This game is interesting in that it shows just how small the game is between A PS2 Production and a PS5-level production, had the industry's practices not changed. To accomodate needs for AAA production we found ways to simplify and easily repeat content in games, rather than build it out in a progressive order. Games used to be more forward-moving and full of cutscenes that are all done to the same level of quality. Nowadays games have sparse high tier cutscenes and a handful of simplified "Conversation System" dialogues, where most animations and lip-sync are automated. Taking a PS2 game and just turning it into a PS5 game, without changing the voice acting or story, or any levels, is an interesting exercise, because it ends up feeling like the most expansive game you've played in a while on a modern system. And yet, it's just a PS2 game. We have regressed.

*Difference, not game

Delta was a butchered piece of shit DEmake, that completely ruined the gameplay, art-design, and especially PERFORMANCE.

gaming would be in a much better place if we stalled out around 7th gen or even 6th gen graphics, and pursued advancements in gameplay, physics and scope instead of graphics. the obsession with graphics as the be-all-end-all has been so detrimental. modern rockstar games are the peak of this. just massive amounts of resources poured into making games look good, forgetting that games should first and foremost be, you know, fun.
>>
>>737934118
Calm down faggot. Your shitty gameplay finally works like it should have done years ago. The original plays like absolute dogshit and you know it. Kojima actually fucking sucks at making fun gameplay. Look at death stranding as an example. He can’t even make good gameplay when the engine and gameplay was already done better in Horizon before he started Death stranding. Even when he gets an example of how it should be done he gets it wrong.

There also was no art design in the original, they tried making it look real with a piss filter over it. Well now it looks more real and you can turn the piss filter on if you want to. Performance is YOUR problem upgrade your fucking hardware faggot.
>>
People kept demanding longer games because VALUEEEEE so budgets gets stretched thin for AAA games, you get a couple of very expensive moments and then lots of filler to pad the runtime

I would've been 12 or 13 when PS3 dropped, and I actually remember the realization the first time they hit the stores that like "This way games look and feel is just going away."
I had spent a year playing PS2 games en masse and constnatly telling myself "How do games get better than this?" I was playing Jak 2 while I was dreaming about graphics development and realized "Holy shit, this is already as good as cartoons." and I think that was the first time I felt that way. But I recognized that only Naughty Dog were accomplishing this, and thought it had something to do with PS2 hardware being too hard to work easily on for most devs. So I assumed with PS3 that meant more could start doing it. Turns out it's got nothing to do with that, and it's all about who you hire, and how you organize.
With 20 more years of hindsight, it does feel extremely regrettable that we didn't stop. But the problem is capitalism. Just look at the AI race. There needs to be the assumption that there's always something "Next", that investors are building up, to build up wealth.
I've been thinking about the world situation a lot lately and the threat of china and communists, but I still believe we're just between a rock and hard place as gamers. If communism won in the previous century, there would've never been video games. I've tried to tell this to Discord commies until I quit their servers too. But it's a shame Capitalism didn't have an end-mechanism, because games would truly be better if they didn't have endless sequels, innovation was always incentivized, and graphics didn't grow so far as to require staff going from 100 people to 1000 people. Go over 400 is where Bungie went from Halo Reach to Destiny, and that's clearly when a good company stops making good games.
Generationality is also an issue. Millenials growing up shaped by video games, has led to millenials entering game dev with incestuous inspiration like Mario games or cringe Ace Attorney wannabe games.

Yuh, tell me you are an autistic boomer without telling me you're an autistic boomer.
I've played MGS3 religiously on PS2, PS3 and the 3DS port, and it took me 10 minutes to get used to Triangle being the new roll button, and X being the new action button, and the more modernized Third Person shooter aim.
Good to know we're discussing with literal retards.

>advancements in gameplay, physics and scope
I always keep hearing this but never see any actual ideas for improvement. Simple games with pretty graphics were always the best, modern vidya just has too big of a boner for turning everything into a tutorial and the "real" game never really starts. A lot of 7th gen and some 6th gen games also had that problem but it did get worse.
>>
>>737935726
Yeah. Once you remove the fancy graphics most games since 7th gen have actually only been simpler, and even devs admit this from time to time.
There's a retrospective on the Ratchet & Clank games GDC talk, by one of the OGs and a millenial latecomer. In that they reflect on the first PS3 title
>"We hoped that fans were okay with losing Multiplayer and getting a slightly simplified game compared to Ratchet 2 and 3"
I just finished it, and honestly, everything about it is worse. When you jump with the helicopter it feels more janky. When you shoot it has less impact. When you jump it feels weightless, and enemies seem stiff, but all the animations are more blobby and the 3D graphics are better.
VFX mask a lot of ways in which literal PS1 games have better control and gameplay than modern titles do.

Have you considered donating your body to science because if someone vivisected your skull they might just uncover something unbelievable or propose theories on functional compensation?

I am puzzled at how nobody felt any shame, not to mention the famously Japanese sense of shame that necessitates one's disembowelment to wash it away when they were reskinning someone else's work from 21 years ago and made the opening credits
>Original Direction: Hideo Kojima (not present)
>Original Animation: Someone else
>Original Art Design: not us lmao
>Original Mecha Design: Yoji Shinkawa (with kojima)
>Original Game design: people other than us

more interactive and destructable environments would be one thing when it comes to physics. even today it's very lacking.
more variety of indoor and outdoor locations and seamless transitions between them. remember when all people wanted in GTA was to be able to go in buildings? we could have that if GTA didn't become just a massive graphical demonstration. even games like Pokemon have basically removed the ability to enter buildings with few exceptions.
rpgs with deeper and more impactful choices. even extensive dialogue options basically don't exist in games anymore.
more dynamic npcs.
better AI.

those are just a handful of things that have been pretty much been ignored in the pursuit of graphics. and none of them would really increase the complexity of games or necessitate any extra tutorials, just the depth. games today are wide as an ocean, but deep as a puddle.

Was playing far cry am amazed how boring the story is and just skip it. Cutscenes are pointless in video games I want to play a game not watch a film.

The 3DS version was my very first MGS experience and the qualities of the game's story and mechanics shined through even at 12fps with the frame-pacing of a stuttering live-stream. I found that even with Circle Pad Pro, the game controls better by steering the aim with the ABXY buttons than an extra circle-pad. And the game is extremely cool. It backported the MGS4 engine into MGS3, so a lot of legacy movement feels as it should but you could also crouch-walk, and TPS-aim, and the graphics look really cool. I bet emulating the 3DS version on PC is the best MGS3 experience you can get.

It's Konami after they self-assassinated with Pachinko and gachaslop and killed KojiPro in 2015. Nothing they do is genuine, even if they've seemingly "returned". Just look at Silent Hill: Nigger.

Delta mogs
>most of substance bonus content restored or reworked
>3ds controls but with more buttons and no touchpad fuckery
>hd version's 60fps bugs fixed
>modern graphics without piss filter like in pachinko
It's the ultimate version.
Same shallow reddit plot and walking sim gameplay though. Bravo konami.

Blame open world slop for this.
And gamers too, for the push for always more content, grander maps, more busywor ,etc.
>>
They didn't take any risks with this so it's just the original game with a modern filter over it.

They knew they would just get ridiculed if they tried expanding it.
