I STAND ALONE
OW THE EDGE
>>737934208
Recently mastered all the PS2 games on Retroachievements and for me it goesSands > Warrior >>>>>>>>>>> ThronesI dunno what they were thinking with the last one.
>>737935636i can hear this webm
I need to replay Sands of Time. I remember having so much fun with it.
>>737935724just do it the game is only 4-5 hours long
we need more edgelord kino games like warrior within. I feel like the people want edgy games again its what we crave deep down, we've had ENOUGH gay nigger games
>>737935603>Sands > Warrior >>>>>>>>>>> Thrones>for meit's just the objective truth
>>737935603Ubisoft believed that WW was too edgy and were trying to balance the tone back to SoT. That combined with your typical 3rd game curse that often plagued games from that era.
Never played PoP, even though I'm a millennial (then again so many good games existed back then). Is it a mostly console franchise, at least the good games? PC gamer here.
>>737934208Crazy thing to say but canadians long long ago used to make good games
>>737936045I pleyed WW on PC. Gameplay is comparable to Tomb Raider. Lots of platforming with a bit more involved combat.
>>737936045>millennial pc gamer>never heard of emulationsomething doesn't compute here, why are you lying
>>737934208They made a spiritual sequel to WW with a game called Prototype
>>737936163Ok yeah I checked it more, turns out that the series is pc available even back from Sands of Time. Good to know. For some reason I thought it was console-exclusive.>>737936202I'd prefer to buy the game than emulate it is all I'm saying. Obviously if it came down to unavailability, I'd the latter.
>>737935987Why do people keep parroting this? Two Thrones is much much much edgier than WW, only the prologue of WW is edgy, TT has you cruising on EDGE from start to finish, genuinely feel like sometimes people played the prologue of WW where the prince calls shadhi a bitch and put down the controller
There's a unlockable interview with WW creative director. And you listen to him speaking about influences for this edgy redesign etc, but a camera man just switches between that guy's tattoos & appearance to Prince and it's obvious he made a "literally me" self insert out if him. Meanwhile the director says how they went with matured approach. Looked like they were making fun out of him.
>>737936527yuri's voice is too silly for edge
Here is Two Thrones
>>737936682And here is what you do 95% of the time in WW, which of the two is edgy
>>737936682>I told you! I AM ZANGETSU!
>>737936527That's how the team that made the two games describe them. >"We had a narrative arc for the trilogy when we started working on Warrior Within," adds Kevin Guillemette, lead game designer on Warrior Within (and currently on the team remaking The Sands of Time). "For us, Sands of Time was: You're a teenager, you're coming of age. Warrior Within is: You're becoming an adult. You're affected by your past experiences, and all the events that you lived through, and this brings a darker tone. It breaks the playful mood that you had as a teenager." >The Two Thrones' biggest addition to the series was the Dark Prince, a corrupted split personality created by the Prince's interactions with the Sands. Taking over the Prince's body at certain points, the Dark Prince used a "Daggertail" chain-whip to attack or strangle foes, and to swing from certain points. Essentially a second protagonist, the Dark Prince was also emblematic of The Two Thrones' central theme: bringing together the previous two iterations of the Prince and reconciling them with a story that was tonally between The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. >"We tried to tone it down a bit without losing the gameplay improvements, and some of the maturity as well - to reach a balance between the two experiences [of Sands of Time and Warrior Within]," says Florence Baccard, who worked as a marketing coordinator on Two Thrones. "We had the mature side with the Dark Prince, the alter-ego of the Prince. He's always nagging him, trying to lure him to the dark side." WW makes a quite a first impression.
>>737934208>Prince of PersiaBut what had he done to protect the Strait of Hormuz? Is he Ow the Edge enough to perform Rules-Of-Nature tier acrobatics on flying rockets?
>>737936527The only bad thing about TT is the chariot races and the dark prince constantly losing health. The prince reconnecting with his people and learning to care about them is cool.
>>737935603The PS2 version of Forbidden Sands is also a legitmately good classic sidescroller and i'd argue that is better than the "next gen" version.
Anyone else replayed the games fairly recently and not enjoying them that much anymore?Sands especially is super barebones. I still love everything about the games except for the gameplay. That's also the only reason why I was kinda interested in the cancelled remake. I wanted to see how they would modernize the gameplay and make the climbing, combat and level design more complex.
Wish she survived bros
>>737937323I think the entire dark prince concept, look, and execution was retarded and bad. The game would have been infinitely better without that stupid shit.
>>737938127What's wrong with the dark prince, he is really iconic
>>737937768she had to die, it was the only way to set the prince back to fucking the princess whom he failed to save in first place.
Sand Wraith was edgekino, I wish we had more playtime in that form
>>737934229OF THE CRATER
>>737936517 >I'd prefer to buy the game than emulate it is all I'm sayingWhy do you want to give Ubisoft money for a bunch of games that came out 25 years ago like the original devs are gonna see a penny of it?Just emulate for the best experience and then mail the CEO a cheque if you feel that guilty for some reason
>>737935603Whole SoT trilogy is kino in my eyes.Don't know why you're dunking on Thrones I thought it combined the best elements of the first 2 games.
>You bitch!
>>737939047>>737939047>Why do you want to give Ubisoft money for a bunch of games that came out 25 years ago like the original devs are gonna see a penny of it?This but also the steam versions are really bad, they got no controller supports, you gotta remap your own inputs, emulation provides all these things on top of being much better, don't get suckered in
>>737934208Memes aside, I like the unrepentant, earnest edge of WW. What you see is what you get for good or ill instead of bullshit winking at the camera.
>>737934208i remember playing this when i was young and not having ANY idea of what was going on in the story, but i still thought it was cool and fun
>>737935603cheevoslave
>>737940131It's an easy to understand story, it's about a guy who loves Parkour and fighting and everything else is window dressing around this hobby of his>WWi need to go back in time to do Parkour in an island in the past but also the future>Two ThronesI need to do Parkour in Babylon
>>737937593>I was kinda interested in the cancelled remakeLMAO yeah NO.
>>737936350Why didn't Alex save her, maybe she would've turned out to be a great girlfriend and he wouldn't go full schizo incel in a shitty comic (redundant)
>>737940607He was radicalised by /pol/ after he found out about hypergamy
>>737935603>dunno what they were thinking with the last one.Read story about its development. Game was in development in Casablanca for over a year and then they decided to scrap entire concept of open world because they ran into dev issues and such, version that released was made in 7 months by Casablanca and Montreal studios.
BLACK-HEARTED EVIL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsavCrTybN0For me its this
>>737935603I liked thrones when I was a kid don't really know what was wrong with it, only thing I remember is it looked like shit, much worse then the other games.
>>737944748Came here for this
>>737945616
>>737934208LIKE EVERY TREESTANDS ON ITS OWN
>>737939202Two Thrones was disliked for not having any innovations and just being the same as previous games.I know it's ironic in the modern age of slop but yea back then gamers wanted new games to have something new.
>>737946537I wish that were me
>>737946869you wish you were the floor?
>>737946929That too is acceptable
>>737940163The cheevos on RA are just a neat little plugin to browse secrets and alternate ways of doing things. I just played OoT and I never knew you could get the Hylian Shield for free from the graveyard, or that you could use a bottle to play tennis with Phantom Gannon.
