It was either the end of Remake or beginning of Rebirth where her memories got taken away and she's pretty much reset to being normal Aerith with just a gnawing feeling from the memories that bad shit will happen. Story-wise, it makes sense to give and take the memories since her being in communion with the planet means she should be getting the knowledge of alternate timelines Sephiroth is causing anyways, and removing the memories so that her death isn't prevented makes sure their timeline doesn't get erased.That's not to say it isn't a bad decision to even bother dealing with time travel when you're largely keeping everything the same (it definitely was a dumb and bad decision), but they did bake in story elements to justify the flip-flopping. My only guess for why they did it is to try and make and fans happy, basically by saying the original FF7 is still canon, and the changes in FF7R are their own canon, so every exists beside each other, but they were too fucking dumb to realize how badly the time ghost plot would tank Remake.

>>737938723Yes, because originally there was no Tifa. She has been added after. Originally there was 3 main characters: Cloud, Aerith and Barret. The original model of Aerith was a mix between Aerith and Tifa, then they divided and created two characters just because Sakaguchi wanted the player to feel what happend when you lose a dear one and have to move on with your life. The fact that Aerith "is more old than Cloud", has a motherly attitude etc. Is because she is someway the transposition of Sakaguchi's mother on her character, in some elements. Of course Aerith is a girlfriend with these traits. Is not incest.

It's obvious in remake she has some memories or knowledge about what's going to happen. That's how she knows Cloud is the love of her life the moment they meet and tells him to stay away so he won'tbe depressed for her death.Then in Rebirth they wanted to keep the same beats of the OG game so they make her lose her memories so she goes through her 'he has Zack's mannerisms what does it mean' and 'what is my mission as a cetra do I really want to carry this burden' arcs.Everything develops the same way but in the course of one game, with Aerith gradually distinguishing Cloud from Zack, realizing Cloud is the one she wants, deciding to carry out her mission as a cetra to protect everyone even if she wants to live, blah blah blah.The Aerith in the date in another world has more knowledge again, that's why she has terminal euphoria, acting happy while depressed because she's going to die. She enjoys her time with Cloud but NPCs call her out on her depression.Cloud is trying to make sense between enjoying the date and knowing Aerith is keeping information from him.She tries to make the nature of her feelings ambiguous to protect Cloud again, but he calls her out for it.She gives him the materia and pushes him back to the current world to continue the plot.
