I think it's more about visuals than actual stats though, especially at the distances you usually view units at in total war games. Empire swordsmen and orc boyz aren't really all that different in terms of game mechanics, but they look and sound *very* different, much more so than "dudes with swords in red and with an italian accent" and "dudes with swords in blue and a german accent".

Rome 2 was irredeemable shit saved years later by the Sophia team and thier DLCs and patches.

Every total war title is enjoyable up until 40 turns in when you start auto resolving every battle with your full stacks
