Why would you buy a Steam Controller when the definitive PC controller already exists (pic rel)

Definitive for around 10 months, when it starts to drift.

I'm not interested in the Steam Controller either.

>Stick drift king

It's impressive how they consistently make the worst controllers with zero improvements and people still call it "the best". They've been making the same controller since the early 2000s and it still has less features than the 20 year-opd sixaxis. I'm still burned at how terrible their first-party rechargeable batteries were for the 360 controller anyway.
>>
>>737939337
Actually wouldn't be bad for 20 bucks, but they are delusional pricing it for 70

>>
>>737940003
You don't need to buy rechargable batteries if it HAS a battery inside it.

Like steam controller..

Actually that's an excellent point, so a steam controller has more features, more inputs, gyro, pads, better dpad, more under buttons, grip censor AND an internal battery which you'd have to buy for x elite which is ALREADY more expensive. Lmao
>>
>>737939337
Better wireless signal, even less input lag that Xbox wired.

Worst case scenario you have no charge when you start gaming and you either forgot to charge others or used them for something else
>>
>>737940003
Yes I do, but I have to charge them in my 15 year-old contraption that takes all day. My batteries also surely have much less capacity now than when I bought them, since a charge lasts about a week now.

I was considering a steam controller, but looks like there's no point when I already have a ps5 controller.

Had this for a few years and all it took was dropping out of my hand once for it to have USB detection issues, stick drift and shitty bluetooth connection.
It -did- come with the rare dongle to connect to but I cannot find those anymore for a reasonable price.
>>
>>737939337
I don't like asymmetrical sticks and there pretty much no buttons for hot keys
>>
>>737941383
Its tmr sticks actually, and how do they suck? I'll be honest besides potentiometers or switch joysticks, I can't remember a shitty joystick in the past decade, but maybe I'm just fortunate??? Xboxes, PlayStations,8bit do, steam controller 1, steam deck... I guess hall / tmr is better, but I can't even have a frame of reference to see this steam controller as worse it it has tmr, unless it was made out of bubble gum or something

>>737941450
>no buttons for hot keys
Lol. Reminder you can fit an ENTIRE keyboard of bindings on a steam controller layout.
>>
>>737941630
>Lol. Reminder you can fit an ENTIRE keyboard of bindings on a steam controller layout.
Yeah, that's why I'm buying Steam Controller. Emulating is comfy on Steam Deck, you don't have to remember weird combinations to get into emulator's settings or select save state, just bind the buttons to trackpads.
>>
>>737939831
>>737940220
AA rechargeable batteries are the best, you retarded ape.
>>
>>737941838
Since you responded me talking about internal batteries included with it...what exactly is your argument why having to buy your own batteries is better for user experience?? I REALLY want to know.
>>
>>737941017
I wouldn't know, Nintendo hasn't received a dime from me in over 10 years.
>>
>>737939337
When I was controller shopping last year I really wanted something with back buttons because I liked them on the deck. Didn't want to spend more than $100, so I was torn between this and an 8bitdo controller with 2 back buttons for like $15 less. Obviously got the 8bitdo. It feels cheaper than my last Xbox controller but at least it has more features.
>>
>>737939413
Been using mine for around 4 years at this point, never had any drift at all
>>
>>737939337
Sort of off topic, but I have been through like 4 of these in the past 3 years. I either get stick drift, or the buttons stick. And no, I am not a fat ass, and I wash my hands religiously.
Are these controllers just not meant to last?

You have an easily replaceable standard sized battery that you can replace in less than a minute vs a spicy pillow that will bloat out and need an eventual replacement, that you might not even be able to source depending on if your controller has a specifically sized battery or not, and that will require disassembling and reassembling the controller itself
>>
>>737944142
Its also a battery you won't need to replace for years.. with a battery life longer than you can stay awake

Replacements will be on ifixit, and likely sourced after.

And assembly disassembly is easy because those "massive screw holes".

Lol.

So you are so paranoid the battery will go bad you'd rather spend additional money on shitty double A which can also go bad.... and don't own a screw driver.

Lol
>>
>>737943735
Depends. If you're content playing mouse games on mouse and controller games on controller, probably not much.
But if you've ever wanted to play a game that requires aiming while on the couch or otherwise felt frustrated or limited by the amount of buttons for example, you're missing a lot.
>>
I only care about dpad. How's the dpad on it?
>>
>>737945739
I'll also say gyro aim is another realm of experience, especially for shooting.
>>
>>737939831
I only buy wired controllers or ones with replaceable batteries. I don't want my controllers blowing up if I leave them in my closet for too long
>>
>>737939337
People who say this is the best controller have clearly never used a PS controller, and most likely only owns one console. DualShock 4 is so far the best one except the triggers break too easily.

I bought a DualSense last week, and the triggers feels much better. However, it has a similar problem that the Xbox 360 controller have, which is that the controller is too big / bloated compared to the DualShock 4.

I haven't tried a Switch Pro Controller yet, but I've heard some good things about those as well. But Xbox 360 controllers are just terrible. The face buttons feels horrible to press, and the dpad is so fucking stiff and makes stupid loud "clicky" noises.

I might go back to DualShock 4 if the DualSense bloated size keeps hurting my hands. The only problem is that those controllers are on their way out and won't be produced much longer. Not sure how I'll handle future gaming without the DualShock 4.
>>
>>737946041
Just drain the battery if you store it long term???? Also I'm pretty sure those spicy pillow incidents were mainly with early ion batteries, or damage
>>
>>737939337
to thank supplier for years of service by buying a crap product, even if it ruins the industry. many such cases

Gee, I sure do love hitting superfluous buttons when I'm just trying to hold the damn thing. If I'm playing a game that needs more buttons than what's on a standard controller, then I'm not using a controller for it.
>>
>>737939397
best dpad
Got more 1ccs on this than any other controller or stick
>>
>>737943735
Back buttons are nice because clicking in sticks fucking sucks. otherwise nothing. This is why these prices for modern controllers are ridiculous, they offer nothing over these 30 dollar wired pads from almost 20 years ago.

>*clickclickiclickclick*
>it's not a bad controller but I'd rather buy a 2nd 8bitdo controller than this
Ihave both an xbone 1 controller and a 8bitdo pro 2, and I have to say I vastly prefer the xbone if I am using the dpad with any regularity. You actually know when the buttons actuate with the click, while with the do's mushy thing you just cant tell physically, especially if you are doing a horizontal.

>Its also a battery you won't need to replace for years..
NiMH AA batteries also last for years so you dont need to replace them often

Wrong.

Not a buzzword. A stick technology that's drfit-proof.

Wrong again.

Still wrong.

This has not happened ONCE in all of recorded human history.

What if you want to play that game on the couch? Or simply want to jump while moving the camera in a normal game?

Why yes, I will test a spacer underneath the original pad and then a full replacement with individual buttons. If both feel like ass I will go back to the original.
Care to elaborate what makes a 3d printed dpad worse than the original?
