This should be a hint of what you're getting into; feels like Square eternally regrets not making FFVII a franchise of its own striking while the iron was hot back in 97/98 and had tried their damndest with "Ivalice Alliance" games and "Fabula Nova Crystalis" games. You can certainly play the game on its own but they buried a lot of details in other media.

15 is better than 1615- road trip movie- has more RPG mechanics than 16 at least- cute girls- bros- feels more like a Final Fantasy at least, more lighthearted and whimsical themes16- dark-themed Games of Thrones movie- Zero RPG mechanics, this is purely an action game- Playing with no armor is equivalent to a normal mode difficulty, with armor is easy difficulty- Zero cute girls except Jill- Not very Final Fantasy like- Combat is heavily focused around pressing abilities on cooldown, but the dodge mechanic is fun- Trash enemies are passive and useless, only enemies with healthbars are good.

>>737952059This game has a litany of accurate complaints. Combat is a lot of just holding one button watching the enemy's health tick down. There are a few other combat options, but a lot of them basically amount to a different damage value. The story feels like half of it was ripped out of the game. There's a move and anime covering events that should have been in the game. That still doesn't fix that the game seems to run out of shit to do and rush to a conclusion as fast as possible. I was particularly annoyed because there were a bunch of trailers for shit that just isn't in the game. Probably the best suggestion for making it more playable is unlocking the character switch abilities so the game isn't all Noctis all the time.

The game just fast forwards itself to the ending. In the day one version the last dungeon had nothing to explore. You just rush straight to fight Ardyn and watch the ending. The Royal/PC edition is just frankenstein patches for that mess, and it still shows.
