vivid and lucid dreaming is exhausting why would you intentionally trigger either? When I have elaborate dreams with seemingly endless twists and turns I wake up feeling like I want to go back to bed. I envy the people who lay in bed, instantly fall asleep, and instantly wake up ready for the next day. My dreaming segments my life in such a way that my continuity day to day is completely fucked and I have to spend significant time working up the motivation to continue anything I was doing the day before.

there's no actual known downside to lucid dreaming, when controlling for the induction methods i.e. naturally accidentally lucid dreaming, people show no difference in alertness the next day.
and enthusiasts do it all the time and live normal lives.

if anything has an effect on sleep quality its the fucked methods people do to induce the dreams rather than the dreaming itself, so if someone could invent a device that induce it without disturbing there'd be no downside.

that being said OP's device is probably snake oil.

yeah because lucid dreaming isn't a real thing
>>
>>737984845
Lucid dreaming is fine, but yeah. Having too vivid an imagination fucking sucks when it comes to dreams like 90% of the time.
Every now and then something completely amazing happens like composing a song from scratch and hearing it play in your dream, and then you remember it for all of ten seconds on waking up and it's gone forever, leaving a fucking hole behind. Or you clearly and flawlessly dream the most dull and mundane moments in life, then wake up with a sigh from not being able to escape even in your own head that night.
I'd love to just turn off and turn on again in the morning, completely refreshed with no bullshit.

>repost
This is how you have lucid dreams consistently

>Keep a dream journal
This is the hardest thing to keep doing. You have to wake up out of sleep and DO NOT MOVE. Try to remember by working backwards what you were just doing in your dreams. You can start writing in your journal after you are convinced you can't remember anymore. If you don't remember anything pay attention to how you are feeling, what you were thinking of when you woke up. If you still can't remember anything write "No dreams remembered" in your journal (yes actually do this).
Always write in the present tense, as if you are experiencing the dream right now.
Go through the dream and underline anything unusual. That is a dream sign.

>Reality checks
Every hour or so in waking life, or every time you encounter something that reminds you of a dream sign, do a reality check. This is both an action that you can easily do to show that you are dreaming, and a mindset of genuinely questioning whether you are dreaming or not. Do both. Obviously when you are awake you know you are awake, but when you are dreaming you have a subtle feeling that things aren't right. Doing this will slowly give you the ability to pick up on that subtle feeling, and eventually that will be enough.
The best reality check is pinching your nostrils shut and trying to breath through them. If you are dreaming you will breath through your hand and closed nostrils. Another decent one is counting your fingers, if you are dreaming your hands will look weird or you will count 11+. But closing your nostrils (or anything similar like being able to breath underwater) is the best one from my experience because it almost never fails. You can do multiple of RCs back to back and should because one could fail. E.g. you can do the nostrils one, then check an clock and see if the numbers are fucked up.

This is enough to eventually get lucid dreams pretty often.

Controlling dreams is a separate skill from having lucid dreams. (1/2)

>>737985739
>Stability
You can stay in dreams for longer by rubbing your hands together, really notice how it feels. You can also rub your hands on any surface within the dream, again pay real attention to how it feels. Engage in any sense and pay attention to how it feels, but touch is easiest to do this with. I would avoid doing this with sight, because I'm pretty sure staring at something too long will wake you up (it's called Rapid Eye Movement sleep, maybe your eyes being too still for too long will cue your body that you are awake).
You also need to not be so excited when you become lucid. Imagine excitement or anxiety as a meter that when it reaches the top, you wake up out of a lucid dream. The difficulty of doing stuff like flying and having sex with your waifu without getting to overly excited is what keeps people from staying in lucid dreams. This doesn't mean limiting enjoyment. Meditation helps with this.

>Control
Dreams have a "magical logic" to them. Controlling what happens in a dream isn't merely thinking of something and it just happens (at least at the beginning, you will do this incorrectly). Your brain operates on a "suspension of disbelief" sort of way. This is true both awake and asleep, but as far as dreams are concerned some things are harder to control than others. Gaining good dream control is shifting your mindset towards "this thing i want to happen is perfectly reasonable and has always been possible" and trying to coax your brain into thinking such a thing is possible using what is already in your dreams. Slowly your dreams will conform to what you think.

Avoid trying to summon objects or people right in front of you, at least in the beginning. Instead, be utterly convinced that said object or person is in another room, or behind something in the dream environment. If the object is small enough, like a phone, you can pull it out of your pocket, again you are convinced that it is it was always there.

>More stability
When you become lucid, immediately start rubbing your hands. Lucid dreams should be stabilized right as you enter them.

>More control
With that phone, you call the person you want on it and ask where they are, or for them to come to you. This is what I mean by using stuff within the dream versus trying to do everything with mind powers.

You can use magical objects, either summoned or found. My favorite are potions because you can get a lot of effects from them also its fun finding out what the brain assigns which flavors to what. Try the summoning technique to get the item that causes the effect you want. It really does help to use a "magic system" over trying to do stuff directly with your mind at least for a lot of things. Try to learn or make up spells and it helps to make the "logic" consistent. Adopt a fictional system if you want. Be consistent and your brain is much likely to allow it to happen. Eventually you will not need to do this.

You may not get what you want the first time. They are skills you have to train. Flying can be difficult, you might have to figure out some tricks, but eventually you will be able to translate yourself across space standing up, or teleport.

Do not fall for the trap of thinking if you haven't experienced something IRL you can't experience it in a dream. Your brain is extremely capable of guessing how things work, you'd be surprised. Even if it isn't 100% accurate, it will likely be better than reality. You will have sex in a dream as a virgin and may be disappointed by the real thing.
>>
>>737985624
Their end goal is to implant stuff they want you to think in your brain to make the transitioning to brain chip cattle easier.
Then they can take full control of your life and do whatever they want with you since birth.

You faggots don't want lucid dreams. They SUCK! You want lucid dreams where you have sex with your waifu, but that's not going to happen. You're going to have lucid dreams where your mom has you clean your room, and you have to go to school later. You don't want this "ability." Last night I was looking at porn on my old family computer, and I kept having to hide the tab when my mom walked in. It was deadly real. And the porn? All shit. Nothing new, because my brain wasn't about to make coom kino up on the spot. It just doesn't fucking work that way.

there's always a risk of crossing some wires when playing around with what you shouldnt.
dreams are either a mishmash of various maintenance and cleaning processes the brain is going through while asleep or the brain trying to make sense of random neuron firings
the reason for not being lucid is most likely to prevent you from accidentally fucking up certain processes by drawing in random info and breaking your mind by making a fucked up mental connection, same with the dream falling apart once you become lucid unless you actively force it to be grounded.

these behaviors dont just exist for no reason, there is a level of natural selection behind them.
yeah, sure, there's no reports of lucid dreams fucking shit up. but how can you be sure that its because its safe, or if its because of survivorship bias where the ones who do mess something up become so incoherent that you'll never know about it.

Not having lucid dreams on at least a weekly basis is a skill issue. Retards are so confused on what it actually is.

KEEP A FUCKING DREAM JOURNAL. You probably have lucid dreams occasionally but don't fucking remember them. You literally have 5-6 dreams every night. Keep up with a dream journal and you will start to remember all of them.

Lucid dream DOES NOT FUCKING EQUAL CONTROL. You are merely aware of the fact that you are dreaming. You can figure out how to control things (unironically look up Law of Attraction shit because it works in dreams), but that is a seperate skill from becoming aware in dreams.
>>737985983
RUB YOUR FUCKING HANDS when you enter a lucid dream. It's that simple. You have to stabilize the dream because 99% of the time when you realize you a dreaming you get too excited and start to wake up. Stabilization is just engaging your senses to the dream so you stay in it for longer.

Practice and get used to recognizing shit that happens in dreams.
First few times you realize you are dreaming you'll probably wake up. That's fine, keep at it.
Traditionally, text and numbers are pretty wonky in dreams and you also 'warp' from location to location without transitionary stages. Get in the habit of checking your watch or try to read things like posters or text. Try and remember how you got to wherever you are (try to remember specific details of the walk/drive).

It's not as cool as it sounds for most people, myself included. Generally your level of control is good but not fantastic and it's hard to keep yourself from waking up while still remaining in control. It's quite nice as a novelty but unless you are really willing to put in work (I wasn't) it's not as much of a miracle as it sounds.
>>
>>737986473
You kinda just roll with it like it's normal, otherwise you'll get distracted from what you wanna do. You don't wanna shake the illusion too much. You gotta think that it simply makes sense you can do certain shit like double-jumping or floating.
>>
>>737984436
I've lucid-dreamed thousands of time. Just look at your hand every hour. If your hand appears deformed, if you have more or less fingers than normal, then you're dreaming.

Lucid dreaming is fun when you're a teenager but it's not that good honestly. Mostly because it doesn't last long. You can basically do 1 thing and that's it. Also, running is incredibly hard for some reason.
>>
>>737986692
it attracts an interesting audience because, lucid dreaming is genuinely real, but it has crossover with the same group of people that believe dreams have spiritual purpose or whatever

Lucid dreams RUIN sleep! You go through these inane adventures inside your own fucking mind instead of genuinely resting. I know that because you have to wake up from them in the middle of the night in order to remember that they took place at all. Lucid dreams are a medical curse that people who have never had them idealize as a shortcut to piping their waifus at night. No, it's more like putting in an extra shift at work without pay, because THAT'S what you're going to be dreaming about.

Bullshitter. Dreams last upwards to an hour in the latter half of your sleep. And you can chain dreams whenever you microwake up in the middle of the night and fall back to sleep (again easier later in the night because the time between REM cycles is shorter). 1. Goyfeed disrupts your sleep quality. Insulin resistance, sugar and low quality carbs will fuck with your sleep.
2. Daily intense exercise helps you sleep better.

I don’t think lucid dreaming is real. At least I don’t think it’s what people tel you it is. I become aware I’m dreaming pretty much much every night, but it’s more of a background awareness, a brief flash of acknowledgement that I’m in a dream, but my consciousness still let’s the dream play out naturally. I never really seem to take “control” as people claim, nor does my dream self really desire to, and personally I don’t think that’s really a thing.

Lucid dreamers are as big of larpers as men who claim ways to have made their dick bigger. It's very bizarre and sad. If you ever see a forum of them, they talk to each other very seriously. Long insane posts with essays detailing their methods with daily schedules and oddly specific measurements. There is no joke or prank. No "haha you fell for this." Trying to directly change things with your mind is a bad idea. It's inherently hard to do because you are trying to superimpose what you imagine over what you are directly sensing. Awareness that you are dreaming. That's it. Some people experience quite a huge shift in perception. Like they could look at something and look closer and closer and the detail never stops.
Controlling your dreams is a separate thing you have to learn.

Wow you anons describe my dreams. It's common for me to not want to wake up because I want to keep my dream going because it was really cool.
Idk if it's bc I'm an aspie or that im just super imaginative and creative.
I have motivation and energy issues, which I do surmize isn't helped by my unreality being more appealing than reality, but I am grateful for it.

You guys are right in saying it can be troublesome, I get it, the fleeting nature is the worst aspect, isn't also awesome to have such insane dreams? The most crazy I still remember, and I feel they leave a profound impact. I try to take the good out of it.

It's fucked up sometimes I think to myself "hey this reminds me of X" and then a half second later I remember that X never actually happened it was just something I did or somewhere I went in a dream. Getting feelings of deja vu from seeing images of real places I've never been to or seen before because they remind me of somewhere I went in a dream is also trippy.

One of the most vivid dreams I ever had was one where I met a bunch of people I immediately recognized (or thought were) my ancestors, they'd all arrived as a crowd and were congratulating me for figuring something out in a way where they wouldn't say what it was, but I inherently understood that's why they were making contact (much in the same way I somehow inherently know they were my ancestors.) At least one of them looked like my grandfather who's no longer alive. Deeper into the dream they all took me aside to show me something and began dancing around a campfire with the rest of our surroundings growing dark. I remember being made to watch it and thinking it was the faggiest thing I'd ever seen. I didn't have to approach the figure of my grandfather to tell him that, he just sort of looked at me with this expression of incredible disappointment and then they all began to blink out of existence. I still sometimes wonder if those figures were real and actually wanted me to join in on whatever dance they were doing, the thought of them potentially being demons impersonating them only hits me now when I'm awake enough to be skeptical, when I was actually asleep I immediately recognized and felt a bond with them. Sometimes I wonder if I doomed myself by telling all of them how gay their dance was and how it didn't impress me, like self-disowning my own lineage. The damage is already done if that's the case, I guess. I've kind of stopped viewing my actual living family positively ever since I had that dream and have come up with viable reasons to become distant from them, I think they've noticed but at this point their reaction to that feels as inconsequential as whatever happened in this dream, be it real or fictive.

I was only ever able to achieve ironic lucid dreaming. Like while I was in my dream I would be like "might as well use this downtime to practice conjuring shit" and I would make little toys and knickknacks appear in my hand, but while doing this I still wasn't conscious and had no control over my thoughts or actions. I was an observer watching my dream self practice lucid dreaming

That's what you dilate it. Your brain can process information much faster than your sensory receptors can report to it. The conscious waking world limits how much data you can physically process. If we can speed up that data delivery to the brain, you can experience a month-long period, and you'll perceive it as a long time having passed when in reality only a small amount of time has passed.

That's what I told myself the first couple of times it happened

i had a really fucked up dream the other day
at first, i was enjoying myself and playing around in a game world where i had the ability to fly/glide
i completed a quest but then realized that there was a second way to complete the quest, so i reloaded my save and did the other version of the quest instead just to see what it was about
i gave the npc what she asked for (it was to apparently start a shop or something but her version of the quest involved giant insects (?)). it was like honey and some other bug themed shit
well, when i gave her the items, i was forced into a cutscene where the insects literally took over the building and parasitized the npc i just helped (and a few more bystanders) with larvae and goo and shit, it was so fucked up
and then the "game" turned into a stealth mission where i had to sneak out of the insect infested building
the worst part of it was that it wasn't a "nightmare" type of dream so i was stuck in it until my rem cycle was over
anyway, i really don't think a product like the one in the op is a good fit for me
thanks for reading my dream diary, /v/

I had a pretty interesting dream last night, I had some kind of hivemind parasites, they were kind of shaped like these with a sort of smooth tentacle and I could just pull one out of my veins. At first I was just enjoying the powers and feeding them to fish to join them into the hivemind, but then I felt compelled to put them into people and it was sort of a stealth mission at a beach party. Eventually I realized that the parasites were actually bad and fucking up my insides but I had already infected several people.

Something like that isn't bad. "Positive/negative" vaguely reminds me LSD Dream Emulator's static/dynamic downer/upper chart. Maybe you could do something like that where you end up in different places depending on what you interact with.
Really, I think things like this fall apart when people make a "story" that is up its own ass, or add tasteless freak monsters that chase you, things like that.

There are downsides to lucid dreaming. Your brain is not supposed to keep what you dreamt in your conscious mind. The moment you wake up, you might feel more tired because of this. I have been lucid dreaming since i was a child. It has helped me with indentifying underlying insecurities but i do feel tired.

a lucid dreaming thread on /v/? allow me to share my experiences with lucid dreaming.
>practiced lucid dreaming for months to the point i nearly got one every 5 days
>had lucid dreams so vivid and real it became indistinguishable from reality.
>after a series of unfortunate events have not had a single lucid dream in almost half a year no matter how hard i've tried

i don't know if its psychological or environmental, but i've not been able to get a lucid dream from here on out save for a few instances that were entirely accidental.
but the ones i got post-incident were surreal and felt more like i was being railroaded against my will by some invisible force rather than actually having control.
i have a whole year's worth of dreams written in my dream journal, and since the incident i've only had 2 lucid dreams and 3 semi-lucid dreams in the span of 150 days.
is there an explanation for this? i'm a little desperate to get back into lucid dreaming because i still want to experiment some more with it.

Scientifically, the most surefire way to test reality is to read something twice. The brain will make up something when you read dream text, then forget what it made up and the words will be different on a 2nd reading.

Knowing you're in a dream isn't the hard part, though. It's not walking up when you realise it.
>>

>>
>>737985214
You need to refine your technique. I was lucid dreaming fine in my drinking days and even now I'm getting plenty of sleep and I still do it.

I've tried plenty of things and two worked really fucking well for me.
1, dream journal. Pen and journal next to the bed. Write the instant you wake up, every time. It's a pain in the ass. You gotta stick with it.
2, spamming reality checks. The one that is flawless for me is pinching my nose shut and trying to breath through my nose. Early on, any time I would think to do it I would do a reality check. Take a step back, really focus on a question in my mind. "Am I dreaming?" Then pinch my nose shut and try to breathe through my nose. Of course I cant when awake, but when I do it in my sleep I can breathe through it just fine. I did it purely through brute force. I did it so often when I was awake that I started doing it in my dreams. Worked a treat.

But now I don't really dream normally. If you have trouble holding on to lucid dreams and start waking up, you just SPIN in place. Like a little kid. Arms out and spin as hard as you can. For some reason it's a hard reset. It removes everything around you in dreamland and it keeps you asleep. Also it feels FUCKING INCREDIBLE. It's pure bliss and swirling colors. I love it so much that now that is just 90% of my dreams I remember now. Spinning in place and swirling colors. Screw lucid dreaming, I'm blissfully spinning dreaming.
>>
>>737995189
Better than me. All my dreams are extremely boring and mundane most of the time.
>>
>>737995857
>Your brain is not supposed to keep what you dreamt in your conscious mind
we literally do not know this and have no idea why sleeps/dreams work the way they do.
we have theories and different ideas to try and explain why it happens, we have data of WHAT happens when it happens, but we dont really know why.
a psychologist would know this.
>>
The last dream I had involved me trekking to a house in the wilderness and finding a guy I dislike inside. He talked nonsense for a while as I got increasingly infuriated by the sight of him. I then picked up a trash can and bashed him over the head with it. Afterwards I explored the house and kept catching glimpses of him disappearing behind corners, even though I thought he was dead.

Another schmuck here. I am too. I've always been a night person. I was running bank hours at work for 9 years and I never got use to it. Not from lack of trying either. I was miserable and did so many things to try to just not feel like shit in the morning. Then I got fired. Now I am working night shift and I feel fucking great. Have been for the last 3 years. That may not be an opportunity you have but if you can, take it. I'm crawling into bed at 6am, back out at 2 or 3 pm and ready to roll. Still takes some time to wake up but I don't feel like shit all day. If there is someone you can swap shifts with for a while or something, do it. See how it treats you. I have no doubt doctors and sleep specialists will UM ACTUALLY at me but I dunno. My late 30s have me feeling better than I ever did in my late 20s. I'm just your average Joe but I really do think I'm just one of the few wired different. After all, someone needed to keep the fire stoked at night so the rest of the tribe survived. Sounds like a scam. Using substances to induce lucid dreaming is better. Small dose of DXM combined with medium dose of DPH will push you into sleep without making you robotrip. Do it while you're refreshed and woke up relatively early and your body will basically reject sleep while at the same time being forced back into it. I also had one of the kind experience of series of lucid dreams when I ingested some etizolam and the dreamscape was super colorful at first, fractal-like with the drops of water hitting the water leaving colorful outlines of the waves left behind, stacking in 3d. I know it sounds like psychedelics but it was a dream, it shifted to different scenario and I found it to be extremely controllable while at the same time no matter my excitement I didn't wake up. The dreamscapes didn't change locations much, I was still within the instance that my mind made up but I freely modified the characters and their appearance.

I can do it myself. But when I was at my best I got 4 LDs a month tops. At some point I grown tired of always checking clock, doing the reality checks constantly. I went for the chemical way of doing stuff and learned how to trip using psilocybin analogues while controlling the trip to give raise to imagined scenarios. Mentally dissociate while tripping and all kinds of things can happen in your imagination further strengthened by the substance. The thing that took me longest was building structures that would allow me to recall most of my memories half an hour after peak leaving me with 3h of fun.
