Because that's about the only link to SA2 that I can think of in the game, and even then, the existence of a character ≠ the same story events being relevant or even happening at all. Exhibit A: Blaze in 06 and Blaze in the Rush series. Two completely different roles/stories/relationships. Besides, Heroes and Shadow 05 both take place after SA2 and before 06. 06 basically has nothing to do with the previous games at all. If you're talking about story formula, I can give that to you, since it's similar to the adventure games' formula, but the plot is not cohesively linked with prior events like SA2 where they directly referenced Tails saving Station Square in SA1.
