Chinese "culture" is profoundly monotone and boring, in addition to the extremly nationalist mindset the chinese people have.stories need conflict, believable, non one sided conflict, stories about perfect people are boring.the chiness are boring in general, no matter what they do, so when they represent themselves it gets even worse.

The Chinese today have lost most of their connection to their rich millennia-old culture. Not only because of the deliberate and widespread cultural self-destruction committed by Mao, but also the decimation of the traditional large Chinese family. Chinese familial gatherings that once used to fill up entire banquet halls would struggle to fill a table of 10 today. Multiple successive generations of single-child families. The dining table is silent. The atomizing of the family unit makes the passing on of tradition and culture far less important or a personal priority, if only because the practice itself is incredibly difficult when there just aren't enough uncles and aunties and cousins and grandmas and grandpas around. And to further add to the societal disconnection, China is infamous for being anti-theist. The church, the temple, the mosque is a place of community. China doesn't even have that. It is ironic that the most successful and powerful icon of communism has completely obliterated the commune at all levels. The average Chinese person may be the most selfish, individualistic person on Earth.They're great at mimicry and can represent other cultures in a good light. They easily recognize the icons and what makes any one particular culture stand out from the rest. But you will notice when they try to represent themselves, you won't see any similarity on the streets of Shanghai.

I'd be genuinely interested in trying Chinese games but most of them from what I've looked and somewhat shallowly played it doesn't feel like they really understand that a game needs to be designed with some kind of coherence in mind. It feels like they just throw shit at a wall and don't even care if it sticks or not. Maybe their gacha is better designed but it's gacha so I've no interest in it. I got Wandering Sword which looks somewhat decent so I have some hopes that it'll also play and feel good as well. But so far from a game design POV their games feel infantile like they are still trying to figure out even the most basic concepts of what the fuck they are doing.
