Which UI is better and explain the reason for.
how the fuck do you go from 20gb to 100gb for the same game?
>>738001484Easier to install 5 different language versions than to pick the one to download.
>>738001451Bottom, it contains all necessary information without scrolling, and in less obtuse terms like "level 9"
the ole XBOX BLADES UI
None of those. The one thing Microsoft always did better, until 2008, was the UI.
>>738002004Want to listen to music on old consoles? It's right there on the root menu.Want to listen to music on new consoles? Good luck. You'll probably need to download an app.

>>738002865NXE on its own is fine, it's still better than what came after it, but I hate it on the principle that it was made purely to show off your avatar and display ads.

>>738002004Those were hideous, and very much a product of their time, but at least they had some soul. I'm so tired of everything having just the same squares nowadays. is there a way to turn off the background shit when hovering over games on ps5? 3/4 themes were on full display at all times now the only way to see it is sitting on the welcome tab and turning off all the widgets
>>738001451>>738002004both look like corposlop, microsoft is even worse because it's trying to be edgy

>>738002902For a while, copying music to your console was a convenient way to collect all your music CDs to a single play device. Then it became a clumsy after thought. I assume that it isn't even an option any more.
>>738001451I like top better but it was way too slow, so PS4 still felt like an upgrade.Usability over aesthetics is a valid compromise if the usability is REALLY bad in the pretty one.

>>738002902>zoomzoom can’t comprehend a world before spotify. It’s okay, not your fault. But being able to rip CD’s onto your og xbox and having your whole library there was great, especially if you were younger and didn’t have the family computer in your bedroom.

>>738003328(You) and people like (You) are the reason nothing is good. You think shit like what I posted is hideous, so they changed it and it got even worse. (You) are the reason things will continue to get enshittified. I hope some day you self-reflect and change. Otherwise, just go live in a hut and never posit your beliefs on the world. Thank you, bye.

>>738001451PS4 UI > PS5 UI > XMBXMB was good for the time but it's extremely slow, you literally cannot even sort games in any meaningful way so you always have to go through a large list, trophy updates force you to stare at the update screen, system settings tended to be scattered across the System option, party chats were done horribly as was the entire "Friends" section, etc.The PS5 UI lacks any sort of way to categorize stuff into folders outside of the terrible "Library" section and only stuff you have installed, you can't really release the "Other" section in any way without a complete format and is bloats like mad if you install PS4 games at all, the themes are so much more basic than the PS4 UI so it's not as great, and it's a bit awkward to learn due to the home bar becoming the main focal point of the UI a lot of the time. Once you learn it it's great due to things like being able to preview and delete screenshots as you take them without needing to go to the actual Capture section, the ability to only install specific aspects of a game if a game supports that (Meaning no need for all the languages installed), the integration of things like being able to filter user-shared content if it's spoilers, and allowing games to automatically set specific settings or difficulties by default through the UI were all great ideas. The main thing holding this UI back is really just the lack of folders, theming, smaller game icons compared to the PS4, the inability to force 1080p screenshots instead of 4K (Something the PS4 can do), and being able to globally check games for updates (Something seemingly only Xbox has figured out, even Nintendo doesn't do this) at this point otherwise it would be better than the XMB and PS4.The PS4 UI is only better than the PS4 UI because, again, the icons are bigger, the themes are better, you can make folders, and you can take screenshots at 1080p instead of being forced into 4K.
>>738003501Point to where I said that please, I’m just answering that there was a time when it was a perfectly viable option to use a console as a music player.
>>738003328The plain debug menus are just absolutely gorgeous, right?

>>738004463To each their own, I like having physical copies of PS2 games I actually play. I don’t collect plastic to display as I hate the clutter and everything I have I bought out in the world while doing something instead of just ordering online.

>>738003875The lack of folders on the PS5 greatly irritates me as I used them a lot on PS4 to separate PS2 games, digital games and preindtalled apps. On PS5 I’m forced to use the cluttered Library section

>>738010898I never connected my ps4 online, are there really ads in the ui?
>>738001451top because i can get all info easily at a glance, bottom requires me to look at it for longer
>>738013684Only in the "What's new?" section and only in a small block on the right side of it. 90% of that section is just if you or your friends started a new game, got trophies, or someone is streaming. When you boot it up the first time you have a PS+ app but you can just put that in a folder and never look at it again. Outside of that the only time you ever see anything advertised to you is if you literally go into the actual store or in the bottom section of a game that exclusively exists to show you the DLC and make it easier for you to download the DLC you own. There's also technically the first tab of a game's page that developers can use to push any sort of messages they want (Buy our new game, do this survey, review our game, etc) but like 99% of the time it's either unused, thanking you for buying the game, touting how much the game sold, or giving updates on the updates. On the PS5 they did the Switch thing where you can get news from specific developers/games and Playstation itself, but the former can be opted out of and the latter is used the same way as the PS4 and you can opt out of it if I remember right. They also have a "Welcome" screen but you can remove all the ads on first boot and the only ads exist in the Store button (Which you don't need to have there, it's basically only good to show you your wishlist) and your PS+ section (Which, again, can be removed). Past that the only time it shows you anything is if you literally go to the Store, the PS+ button in your home menu, or the same as the PS4 where you scroll down enough on a game you own to see the DLC you own and what's available. With both the PS4 and PS5 they will rarely send you messages from Playstation about sales on the store, but pretty much any ads outside of that mandates you be a paying PS+ subscriber to let you know your wishlist is on sale or there's a refresh of the "Free" games.
