Was doing a Voices of The Void crossover a good idea?
>>738009743It's literally just one picture in a random e-mail, it's an easter egg more than a crossover. Now for a better subject, here is the newest roadmap from the devs.

>>738010346I see it, but it looks more military than mob, especially with the attack chopper.
>>738010482It's a atmospheric horror job simulator, you scan space and send in recordings of static to your boss, every now and then you have to go out to the satellites and fix them, often in the dark of the night.Meanwhile as you play, strange things begin to happen around the base and the forest it's located in, from cracks in reality to straight up aliens. It's really good and from what I know it's currently free, plans to come to steam someday.
>>738010569Oh well, considering that dredge is another crossover game where you run into a black woman blacksmith right away I dont hold out much hope for these things. Good thing I played through the game before they added the crossover bullshit

>>738010747dredge
>>738010548>>738010583That explains it, I don't go on Twixter.Well then, that's cool. Strange to collab with something that's still in alpha but I guess the devs really like VotV and it's not like it will release any time soon, or potentially ever. I wonder how big this is going to be?>>738010747I heard people saying it might be Dredge. I don't think Dave the Diver fits with Abiotic Factor all that much.
>>738011031Hopefully soonI hope they expand residenceGenuinely some baffling decisions for the contents of the late gameMy interest petered out naturally around reactors but I recently finished the rest with a friend and it really just drops off dramaticallyI don't know if I can even articulate whyThe ending was stupid, certainly. You spend the whole game fighting swarms of enemies and scraping by but the finale is a big scripted boss fight? Dumb decision
Isn't Voices of the Void a furry game?
>>738009743Only if we get Kerfus in the deal.
>>738011238Kinda, but they’re invisible
>>738011031Never, crossovers are more important
>>738011192>I don't know if I can even articulate whyResidence is full of reskinned enemies and it constantly forces you to return to base to craft new things.
>>738009743>futa alien catgirls are now canon in abioticWhat is dr manse's opinions on this
I have no interest in new cooking recipes/weapons or whatever inconsequential gimmicks they can add to the game. New areas might be cool, but I wish they’d not treat this so much as a live service thing, and just make Abiotic Factor 2.>>738011192The ending is definitely rushed, but I think the main issue with the last 1/2 of the game or so is almost entirely because of the teleporter and how you’re expected to traverse. The first bit is so fun because you’re slowly making your way through area and sort of setting up mini bases as you go, eventually settling on a spot to make the “main” base. That’s sort of the climax, and then that works well for a while as you still continue to do the majority of your exploration around that base. It all meshes well. But then as you go further into the facility, you can either a) build a new base, which is pretty annoying to do and doesn’t feel right after so much effort making the previous one or b) start using teleporters, which sort takes away from what the game is good at (exploration and survival) and leans more into what it isn’t so good at, because now it’s just a matter of teleporting to some high level area so you can farm materials or push through the objectives.I wish there was more reason to actually have to set up shop in places. I think portals are a bit of a missed opportunity because you can just leave basically whenever you want. How cool would it be if it felt like an actual expedition and you were stuck there having to survive until you accomplished whatever you needed to do to get out. I feel like that was maybe the original intent, you can sort of see this in the fog world, but eventually was casualized.
>>738009743>>738010301>DrNose wasn't content with ruining his own game with memes and fetish OCs>Now he is ruining another game that I likeDoes he still live in Kazakhstan? That's not too far away from me.
>>738010482When I played it, it was pretty good, at least until I found out about the true nature of the invisible aliens, then the game became garbage tier. I assume this is still true. So don't look up anything about it. And probably don't wait for 1.0, it's a Patreon milking game, and the dev hasn't finished his previous games, either.
>>738012110He’s not a cat person
>>738012181so basically, this is one of these games with content creep in your opinion? Would you say a better idea would have been to have at around the middle game an event that completely re-shapes the lab around you?but hold on, you have a bunch of trains and shit to get you around the place. maybe the sole problem is the introduction of portals
>>738012328Yea I looked it up some more and found out it's early access. Not even going to bother with it to be honest, shame that it managed to attach itself to abiotic factor.
>>738012585>an event that completely re-shapes the lab that's illegal
Reminder.
>>738012181>The first bit is so fun because you’re slowly making your way through area and sort of setting up mini bases as you goI never did that. I lived in data farm for the whole game's duration.
>>738012585On to something there, but maybe it doesn’t even need to be that drastic. Maybe it’s just a matter of blocking back tracking access for a while at some point, so you HAD to set up a new home for a while. Idk. But yes, I think largely just getting rid of teleporting, or at least making it less accessible, would go a long way.
>>738012809well that's the nice thing about games like these is you can do whatever you want. I got tired of hauling shit back all the time and made stashes as the game went on, up to the point where I got the teleporting cup then the point was lost
>>738013229I've always had the mug on my hotbar to escape sticky situations, like certain death due to falling. Next run, I'm picking the extra hotbar slot perk.
>>738012585Getting a personal teleporter before any major mode of rideable transport/ the lack of being able to make anything yourself first like a Segway or a RC Chair hurt the game massively. Some of the best parts of multiplayer is when everyone gets in the car to go on a road trip, or having to venture out on a tram ride at night and you chat on the walkie talkie, knowing when you get back to your base it'll be full of life because everyone's there, it makes the isolating reality of the world ending way more cozy because you have to go through all the hostile parts that aren't your base before you get to go yell at your fellow scientists then serve them stew. Teleporting just takes that away and stops the need to make little nooks of safety along the way, which we still did because it was in the spirit of things.
>>738010301Link to trailer
>>738010082>It's literally just one picture in a random e-mail, it's an easter egg more than a crossover. From the trailer it's gonna be a whole VotV portal world, which is what's indicated in the roadmap to begin with. Curious what entity they're gonna go with, there's a lot to choose from, but it'll probably just be one. Guessing mannequins since it'd be so easy to implement. Alternatively, cat aliens due to popularity.

>>738013452The game "gives" you a car by making those car batteries craftable so you can drive around, makes more sense than crafting one from scratch. Never did play multiplayer though so I only used them for a bit
>>738013452I only played with one friend, but that does sound cool, to be playing and actually have people use proximity chat and radios. I know you can customize the settings a lot, could there be a "disable teleporting" setting?
>>738013543Same, I have plug ins to remove them
>>738013498If this will be a proper area like the Core Keeper crossover, instead of being like the Japan or Rome portal worlds DLCs, I'll be really pissed off. I don't want Abiotic Factor's cool setting intersecting with the abomination borne from a horny teenager's mind that it VotV setting.
>>738013671VotV was already referenced in AF a long time ago, all but directly stating they take place in the same universe.
>>738013832>all but directly stating they take place in the same universe.
i think everyone's looking at this wrong>non zero chance that we're allowed to KILL arirals because they are innately hostile
>>738013671There's no way it's an area you can just walk into, the Core Keeper crossover one made sense being in the caves, but this one is 100% going to be some new portal somewhere that teleports you there.
>>738010082I like Abiotic Factor, but I think I'd rather they made a sequel at this point.
>>738011052This. Dredge has also done a bunch of crossover bait (one being dave the diver too, IIRC)
>>738013931VotV has some cool stuff in it, if you're hung up on the alien cat things, they're just one amongst many and are literally invisible in-game.

>>738014048I think it's a really cool idea for a crossover. I haven't played Abiotic but it's been on my radar for a while, if this is good I'll probably get it.
>>738014048Anon, I've played that game for probably close to 100 hours (or maybe just 60, idk). Arirals are my only major issue with it. But they are such a massive issue that I cannot overlook it, and I can't stand the idea of them being unnecessarily shoved into another game I like.

>>738014403>game about anomalies referencing another game about anomaliesit's not that hard to figure outAF takes inspiration from a lot of places and it doesn't try to hide any of them
>>738014360If you think a new game by these devs would be shitty, why would them lumping more shit onto this "bad" game make it better? Either you like the work they're doing or you shouldn't think they are capable of making this game better.Anyways, yes, I WOULD like a completely new game with brand new areas and brand new plot more than I'd like a fucking half-baked pet system, thank you for noticing.
>>738014560Because most of the time when a game like this stops being updated and they move on to a "new game", it goes down like Subnautica did.
>>738014230agreed, the only real hope in my mind is >>738013954AF's devs not bending over backwards for nose's special snowflake OCs and actually allowing us to retaliate when the stupid space cats give us shit is the only real hope for the update.
>>738014479But it's an unfinished game that started in 2022. There are other games out there that are actually finished and fit perfectly within the abiotic setting. One of the strenghts is that pretty much anything works, including a mario 64/platformer setting. Just including something very similar wouldn't be one of my first choices
>>738010747anon the hook is 1-1 with the one from Dredge
>>738014560it's just tortanic /v/posters clutching their chuddy pearlsnot even worth engaging with these fucks they have never engaged with any of the content they complain about they just scream here and then move onto the new thing
>>738014560>I don't want good games, I want to BUY more games!Good for you, anon. Meanwhile the devs will keep improving AF because they care about making their good game better.
>>738014560As much as I love AF, the game still has a ton of room for improvement. A lot of what they're planning for the next year is fixing up a bunch of areas that needed to either be expanded upon, or completely remade. 1.1 and 1.2 were both updates that primarily focused on improving existing systems, namely cooking and guns. 1.3 will be focusing on improving the half-baked pet system. 1.4 is a major update but is also fixing up fishing. Every update is taking an existing mechanic that isn't really in a good place and fixing it up. Personally I'd rather they do it this way, get the game to a point where all the systems you implemented are actually where they should be, instead of just moving onto the next game before the last one is done. I consider Subnautica a very good game, but holy fuck do I wish they had done a second pass like this, the game deserved so much more polish than it got. I actually just wrote that before seeing the other reply lol, but it's the best example for sure.
>>738010482>>738010840Just so we're clear, this response is the non-retarded one. It's a free game that's pretty good played blind. Doesn't stay fresh forever, but recommendable.
>>738014742>AF's devs not bending over backwards for nose's special snowflake OCsYou have to keep in mind that it is almost definitely the AF devs that went to Nose and initiated the collab.
>>738014750They're also indie devs. They're not exactly gonna be doing crossovers with big titles. All of their crossovers (Core Keeper, Balatro, VotV) are with other indies. I think the devs just like VotV and wanted to do a crossover with it. Like mentioned earlier, the game was already referenced in a terminal entry.
>>738014956You know what, fair.
>>738013981I don't really mind them working on one game for a long time, too many games are straight up abandoned, the game has a lot of flaws that could be fixed and they can also use whatever they add to gauge interest in having that in the sequel. It's not like Stellaris where the developers really should make a sequel instead of adding more things.
>>738014956>cooking and gunsI remember playing through casually and thinking guns are completely uselessIn the late game enemies have shields and are so ridiculously tanky that it would take an entire inventory slot worth of ammo to kill one. And you'd have to spend 30 minutes speedrunning an older area just to get that ammo back since there is no reliable source to stockpile them. And your gun wears down so you have to spend a few hours grinding out repair kits since the advanced ones are extremely tedious to stockpile as wellThere's no reason not to make a few rechargeable laser guns instead since replenishing all of them are piss easy in comparison
>>738010086The only half-life root voices of the soied has is stealing the sound effects. >>738010482It's shit. Instead of adding signals and building on the supposed premise of the game, all the devs have been doing is adding endless tedium and streamer events.
>>738012181The game would be shit if you had to tediously drag your inventory back to base the entire time, having to toss out materials you gathered for a reason because another respawning enemy dropped something you also need. Post-Labs AF's issues are not caused by letting you skip the tarkov bullshit with a "return home" teleporter.
>>738016775they did add an ammo crafting bench, but the material cost for gunpowder is still quite high
>>738016775>have to run back to base to recharge or rely on the shitty pistol that takes 5 minutes of cranking to reloadLasers are shit.
>>738016775To be honest, they're still not great. If you ever do another playthrough, I really recommend the mod 'Half Factor' which makes the durability much higher, while adding mag size and damage to a lot of guns. It also increases the amount of ammo enemies drop by a lot, so you can actually use guns as your primary weapon. Having played with it on Apocalyptic, I'd say the amount of ammo you get is maybe a little high, but given how all the other sources of ammo are either very sparse (Grayson, ammo bench) or so late in the game (Praetorium crates) I think it's fine. The damage is much more reasonable, some got a really big boost, like the shotgun going from 18 to 30, but despite that, it just makes them feel in line with melee damage, instead of useless. When you can one-shot almost any enemy in the game with the carbon pickaxe, I don't think the SMG no longer requiring a full mag to kill something is unreasonable.
Are we going to get Ariral and Kerfus sex at long last?
>>738018069Janet sucks Abe off in an unskippable 4 minute cutscene
>>738016775Having level 10 in crafting is enough to make most guns never lose their durability IIRCMain problem with guns is just that they can't compete with player-crafted weapons. The magbow deals more damage than the Wessex rifle, the rebar bolts are easier to source (carbon and rebar), it reloads pretty fast and you can sometimes recover the bolts. The sniper rifle on the other hand can't even be used before Hydroplants, it reloads slowly, the enemies that drop ammo for it are rare, you need 4 different materials to make more ammo for it, and the only real upside is that the projectile flies in a straight line instead of an arc.The only guns I found to remain generally competitive are shotguns, and only if you take the upgraded shotguns or the antique shotgun.
>>738018346Magbow sucks.>2 round mag>weak>rare materials needed, have to grind the infinity train for silver to convert into graphite>reinforced rebar bolts break just as easily and fast as the fucking marker with a screwdriver shaft that the starter crossbow uses>scope makes it shit to use because the bolt drops too far long below the point the zoom would be useful for
>>738020130>>weaka 340 damage silent sneak attack is weak?
>>738020130>weakA headshot with the hypercross magbow is enough to instantly kill a large number of enemies and it's considered a silent weapon so you don't actually alert enemies if you miss with it, only if whoever you hit survives. It's not really a main weapon, it's mostly for striking first and maybe avoiding the subsequent combat.
>>738010082I wish they would have different voices by job>defense analyst sounds like Barney>trans-kinematic researcher sounds like Heavy Weapon Guy>epimedical bionomicist sounds like Medic>female characters also get their own distinct voices if they can find any women with enough of a sense of humor to record them
>>738020130>not having the train set up for an easy farming runok, so here's what you do>bring like 4 ramps, a handful of bridges, and tech scrap>run the wire up over the roof of the train with the tech scrap, using ramps and bridges to get to the end of the train>set up some batteries, a crafting table, a repair/salvage station, some chests and a charging station if you use the vacuum (recommended)Then you can easily work your way back-to-front, hoovering up everything and breaking down the pocket watches for even more silver
