Giving her less effective hacking prowess (like larger hacking grids, the inability to equip special nodes/Hacking Modes, and/or more restrictive hacking pathways) but also giving her ways to do direct damage that Diana can't (who has to rely on Hugh to shoot enemies after forcing them OPEN) via Dead Filament synthesis. She can draw in Dead Filament, store it, then craft it into offensive/defensive forms (think Vergil's different Summoned Swords techniques) as well as enhancing Hugh's weapons so he can deal damage enemies even while they're not OPEN.

>>738042039While I get where you're coming from, I firmly believe that not being able to save Eight was crucial for the story to work. The contrast between Eight's stunted development and Seven obtaining a (figurative) soul through Hugh is one of the most important bits in the story. If we somehow saved Eight at the end then it would seriously undermine Seven's journey to become Diana.That being said, I think Eight could get some salvation in a sequel piece of content, be it DLC or a second game. This could be achieved by printing another Eight unit with completely stock memory. It is kind of a copout since it wouldn't be the same pragmata as before but I think the villainous one needs to stay dead.

The latter point is important because it was something Diana went into the fight with Eight hoping to do but wasn't able to achieve, meaning reviving Eight in the state or close to the state of their fight would be seen as a second chance.
