It works quite well.

Literal fake news.
Computers recognize it as a mouse and keyboard by default. Early reviews mentioned being able to navigate their computer BIOS with it.You can probably hold the start button to swap to it being a generic controller like on the Steam Deck, but I'm not sure
The fact that it works on phone over 2.4ghz is interesting. I haven't used a third party that worked that way yet.

Can I point out that the only reason other console first controllers work on PC so well or at all is because valve went through the effort of building the translation layer that made them work. Before that it was a wild west of dodgy drivers and bloatware that had the potential to fuck up other USB devices which Microsoft did nothing to address in the decades they had to do it. Yet now this controller is being criticized for not working with other devices as if the onus isn't on companies like microsoft and sony to support the functions of it properly. They're in an unwinnable position. If they add partial windows support they get flooded with support tickets being told their controller doesn't work properly from people who don't know how xinput works, and if they don't support it they have people calling them hostile and anti consumer. How has Microsoft not put gyro in their controllers STILL? What are all controller paddles and back buttons just glorified macros? Why was raw pointer/mouse input an option for consoles DECADES ago? Why would anyone want a steam controller that doesn't do the things that make it worth having?

But they say that's not good enough because YOU don't know Chinese, even if the implant is indistinguishable, and works fine assuming you aren't around heavy magnetic fields or whatever. But people insist you literally can't speak Chinese, as you are literally speaking Chinese.
