Nothing personal.

We have you on visual!

thats ok. a lot of pros are pretty stupid with them too, they use up the energy then forget about them and let them die then lose games to attrition and complain the enemy casters are too OP.

>these things are supposedly big enough that an entire mission took place in one
starcraft scale is weird

A lot of air units scale make no sense but they had to do them like that for gameplay reasons. Think how big battlecruisers or carriers actually are.
>>
zerg OP
>>
>>738036978
When i was kid, enemy ai utilising casters terrified me. Especially against zerg. I was more focused on building pretty bases and rising a defence than expanding and harrassing.
>>
>>738042010
Are Firebats genuinely the most useless Terran unit in the original SC? I was always under the impression they were a core tier 1 unit made to deal with hordes of lings and zealots if the player was going a Barracks-heavy playstyle
>>
>>738046139
They're really good against Zerglings and Zealots, especially when using Stimpacks. Against durable enemies they're not very good. Early game only for them.
>>
>>738046139
All bio was useless until BW added medics. Bats are only good vs lings and vs stuff under Dark Swarm, and VERY rarely for quickly killing workers, the latter usually by landing a hidden barracks on a corner of their base.
>>
>>738046139
all terran bio feels like crap even into broodwar because nothing beats a wall of siege tanks
>>
>>738045775
Defilers, right? Sometimes it's so hard to disengage to a point that you can shoot the Zerg outside of the gas field, and god help you if there's a second Defiler nearby.

>cutscene in the zerg campaign comes along and apparently these things are fucking moon sized space stations

I like to turtle the fuck up, make a big army and walk into the enemy base. Fuck your gay time limits Void
>>
>>738047424
ai is really gay and perfect with psionic storm too
>>
>>738041979
yeah a lot of creative leniency was taken. a science vessel simultaneously an orbital kind of deal and able to be shot down by rifle fire
>>
>>738047514
Yeah and the country-sized Battlecruisers
>>
>>738047706
this is why i liked red alert 2 more, it offered a lot more in the defense department but most of the maps aren't as chokepoint heavy as starcraft
>>
>>738036978
>tfw too stupid as a kid to really use these support units
the lack of automation and requirement that all commands had to be player-managed was what fucked it. even the protoss shield battery has the same problem in the base game.

imagine if the developers at blizzard actually thought things through a bit more, and went the WC3 route with auto-cast abilities on the ones that it made sense for.
maybe even make an alternate version specifically for auto-cast, which is down-scaled in area and damage and duration but also costs much less energy and gets used faster.

> protoss templars auto-casting psi storm can defend themselves so they don't get munched by a single zergling you don't notice
> terran science vessels can actually apply defense matrix to a unit that's taking damage as it's taking it, making short engagements cost less energy over all
> zerg defiler auto-casting plague but it only hits a single target (not currently plagued) and only for a set % of HP
>>
>>738047514
Your webm implies that you weren't happy with that revelation, but I was the exact opposite. Made the Science Vessels seem even cooler to learn that they're these massive fucking space stations instead of these tiny little weather balloon ships
>>
>>738036978
building only golaiths is an optimal strategy because they look cool
>>
>>738050165
autocast psi storm would actually be really bad and rape your own dudes, so that's fine
The defense matrix autocast is lame and gross, removes skill expression
using defiler energy for spells that aren't darkswarm is pointless
>>
Suddenly i felt like replaying wings of liberty and now i may replay the zerg campaign too.
