give me ONE reason to not buy the highest memory model gabecube WITH controller bundle
>>
>>738058856
You can get a prebuilt with 5 times the power for a lot cheaper thats a REAL PC and upgradable
>>
>>738058856
Because your $2000 would be better spent on literally anything else.
>>
>>738058916
present it
>>
>>738058916
I don't care, I just want to give money to Gabe, the king of the master race
>>
>>738059220
Naw Im too lazy to spoonfeed you, go out and look
I was able to score an Ultra 265, 5060ti 16gb, with 32gb of ram and a 2tb nvme for about 900 dollars back in December myself
>>
>>738058916
Not with that small form factor, you can't.
>>
Buy that and a giant dick will teleport in to fuck you in the ass.
>>
>>738059445
What do you need the small form factor for that cant be accomplished with a really long hdmi cord?
Or using a Raspberry Pi steam link?
>>
I'm only going to buy the controller and the VR goggles; I'll buy the steam machine when it goes on sale secondhand for $400.
>>
>>738059558
NTA but being able to put this in a suitcase is the main selling point for me. I like to cruise around the country. Though I do have a gaming laptop which has served me for 8 years now. When that expires, I will certainly invest in this machine.
>>
>>738058856

You already have a PC.

>>738058856
I mean, if you don't have a PC or can't get a cheaper pre-built go for it. Especially if you don't have to buy a monitor. Everyone likes to ignore this is not aimed at existing PC gamers.
>>
>>738059558
Why do you care if I'm going to buy the Steam Machine so I don't have to use those gay alternatives you offer?
>>
it should have 12gb of vram because I once used almost 11gb of vram with my 6900 xt so it seems like a bad decision to only have 8gb. I don't even wanna buy one I just feel bad for the people who do

>Highest Gabecube (24gb, 2T hard drive) bundle with two Gabentrollers
That will be 3000 credits plus tip.
>>
>>738060059
that fix is just something that should have been there to begin with, without it you would keep shit like your desktop enviroment eating your vram and not have switch it to system memory when a game was loaded so like kde would be using 2gb of your 8gb of vram.

on handheld pcs like the steam deck it makes 0 difference to performance because vram and system memory is the same speed because vram is just allocated system memory. if a game uses more than 8gb of vram by itself it will still bottleneck and cause slowdowns on the steam machine because itll have to also use system memory

Lmao wintrannies in suicide watch
>>
>>738060398
whats your point with the benchmarks, just because it better allocates vram memory by making background process use system memory instead when a games running doesnt change the fact that you only have 8gb of vram to use. you can use well over 8gb of vram with a modded skyrim install easily with or without the fix, and who is to say 8gb will still be enough in the near future. 12gb of vram along with the better memory allocation would have completely future proofed the device especially with how good ai upscaling is getting
>>
>>738060275
Here faggot
>>738060293
>>
>>738060689
>Using less VRAM is bad sar
The RAM crisis is still going on; graphics cards like the 3060 have made a comeback. This situation is here to stay, and companies are forced to keep optimizing their junk so that it runs on at least 8GB of RAM.
>>
>>738058856
amd
>>
It's technically weaker than a PS5 and the next generation of consoles are coming out within the next two years.
>>
>>738060881
I never said it was bad, and it doesn't make games specifically use less vram it just allocates background processes memory better ala it stops things like your desktop environment using vram. if a game uses more than 8gb of vram a game uses more than 8gb of vram
>>
>>738059945
he's just a little guy...
>>
>>738060926
That's a selling point, AMD Linux drivers are the best drivers in the industry
>>
>>738061027
And with that, they managed to optimize RAM usage in games that were already using more VRAM, gaining performance. Again, this adds to what I already said about the RAM crisis, and also, don't go buying or playing poorly optimized titles.
>>
I'm buying one day one, idc
I want to CHOKE on Gaben
>>
>>738059739
Get another gaming laptop then, still cheaper and more powerful than the gabepube
>>
>>738059445
>>738059945
It has never mattered what physical size your desktop PC is.
>>
>>738059826
I dont
If you want to be a retard and pay over a 1000 dollars for a PS4 Pro tier gaming experience thats on you pal
>>
>>738059558
I have a small desk that is built into a book shelf, so it only has vertical space. My current tower PC is sitting on an end table next to my bed because it doesn't fit on my desk. I can't wait to replace it with a mini PC that is capable of gaming and have it sit under my monitor. So many of you are ignoring the small form factor appeal. Not all of us have space or even want to fill that space with a gaudy gaming PC.
>>
>>738061751
Why not use steam link on a mini pc or buy a functional small form factor gaming pc then?
Or even a gaming laptop?
All will be massively more powerful and cheaper than a Steambox
>>
>>738061556
>for a PS4 Pro tier
The PS4 Pro doesn't even come close to that power. So why are you bothered that I used my money to buy quality and not your piece of junk console that can't even install mods?
>>738062004
All gay shit and shit options
>>
>>738060958
I already have a PC that's more powerful than the current console garbage and the one that's coming.
>>
>>738062072
I wasnt suggesting getting a console nitwit, I was just informing you that the Steambox is less powerful than a 970gtx

You could literally get something like this for cheaper
https://www.newegg.com/stormcraft-sirius-gaming-desktop-pc-geforce-rtx-5060-intel-core-i5-14400f-16gb-ddr4-1tb-ssd-si1440fbb-560n2/p/N82E16883420040?Item=N82E16883420040

The steambox would only be worth it if it was in the same price range as comparable mini pcs, which are about 500 dollars
>>
>>738062297
>no sff
No thanks, faggot. I already have a more decent desktop (RTX 5080) and I want the Steam Machine without resorting to the gay options you're suggesting.
> which are about 500 dollars
That's the price they're charging now for a barebone with a crappy integrated graphics card, no less than a 1050TI.
KYS nigger
>>
>>738062486
I dont really get why your being such a angsty little bitch about this, its literally a topic asking about alternatives to buying an overpriced and underpowered minipc

I mean if you just have to slurp Gabes sweaty asshole then go for it, wont hurt my feelings in the slightest
>>
>>738062704
You're whining like a whore and telling people to buy shitty pre-built PCs, you're disgusting like a faggot tranny
>>
>>738062792
>shitty pre-built PCs
What do you think the gabecube is moron?
At least good prebuilts are built with off the shelf parts, gabes little shitty box is made with proprietary laptop parts
>>

aka it doesn't exist

I want one because I don't really play games anymore and the ones i do play are pretty lightweight or emulated. tempted to sell my massive pc so i can have something tiny on my desk purely for aesthetics but if its insanely overpriced then i dont see a point and would rather just wait. id get a laptop but docked laptops look ugly and im really trying to get away from the gamer aesthetic.
>>
>>738062979
thanks I only said that so I could get spoon fed
>>
>>738062918
>muh upgradeability
the point of the cube is form factor and hardware and software integration
your prebuilt does not and will not have that
>>
>>738063002
There are probably better deals if you look though
That was just the first thing that popped up for me
>>
>>738062918
>What do you think the gabecube is moron?
Something better made than the pre-built garbage they sell you with crappy power supplies and garbage hard drives that you promote.
>>738062979
Lol sponsored link
>>
>>738062981
I want one so I can set an AI to shitpost 24/7 and make the asses of those pajeets who can't spend $1000 without screaming like homos
>>
>>738063016
>the point of the cube is form factor and hardware and software integration
Oh I get it and it would be nice
But definitely not at a 1000 dollars or more, no way
If it was 700 or under like its supposed to be maybe. If it was 500 it would be an instant buy
But we all know thats not going to happen now
>>
>>738063115
You can do that with a 50 dollar pi dipshit
>>
>>738063176
But I want to spend 1000 so you'll cry like a whore.
>>
>>738063226
And make the asses of those pajeets right ESL faggot?
>>
>>738063139
>But we all know thats not going to happen now
pic related is the gabecube minus the gpu and controller but with 2x the ram, more storage, better cpu and with amazon taking a cut
if chinks can sell this at a profit then so can valve by selling the cube at $700
>>
>>738063280
Keep crying, an ESL can afford a Steam machine while you cry like a gay pajeet
>>
>>738063287
Those things last less than a year; I see hundreds of those crappy mini PCs being repaired in piles at repair shops.
>>
>>738063287
Yeah but it aint going to be 700
>>
valve should have stuck with premium hardware. just aim for a $1500 price from day one.

the only selling point now is console simplicity with your steam library - offset by a shit price and shit performance
>>
>>738063520
>premium hardware
and target a much smaller market of people who are less likely to buy it because they'd want something more custom?
if you really want a "premium" gabecube just wait for oems to start shipping prebuilts with steamos preinstalled, this is about cutting costs and exposing new markets to the steam ecosystem first and foremost
>>
>>738063681
why do you think richer people would prefer customisation and tuning over simplicity?
>>
>>738059401
>900usd
>december
By now 32gigs of ram alone will set you back that
>>
>>738063743
why do you think it's worth sacrificing affordability to turn your hardware more niche? the cube's offering will come from hardware and software integration, not from performance
you can already have most of the gabecube experience as a richfag by paying someone to assemble a 9070xt/9800x3d build and putting cachyos handheld edition on it
>>
>>738058856
>a reason
Get the fuck out of your mom's basement first.
>>
>>738058856
Just wait and see if they didn't fuck it up somehow
Never be early on this stuff
>>
>>738058856
i dont care about you retard waste your money
