every classic game you love is gonna get de-SOULED eventually. how do you feel about that?

Microsoft is too retarded to realize that Halo dying was inevitable. It played out the exact same way as the old school arena shooters except on consoles. The moment other shooter franchises established themselves, they did things differently and better and took away sections of Halo's audience. Halo could do nothing in response since any deviation from its simple formula alienated its own audience. Even Reach was controversial back then and showed cracks in the facade. 343 made things worse than they needed to be, but the original Bungie team would have failed too if they stayed.
Halo is old and deprecated, nobody gives a shit about it anymore. It needed to be aggressively rebooted after Reach by a competent team, completely ejecting its original userbase. But Microsoft didn't have the talent for that, didn't want to take the risk, and didn't have the foresight to realize the problem anyway.

>It needed to be aggressively rebooted after Reach by a competent team, completely ejecting its original userbase
That's exactly what happened and why Halo died. What they actually needed to do was stay loyal to the fans instead of betraying them to chase trends.

I think you're wrong, sure modern shooters stole the casual audience but Doom 2016 was a success and it didn't have sprint ADS shit. Arena shooters can still work, they just need high budget and competent devs, single player and multiplayer.
It's just easier trying to copy CoD and this is what killed Halo.
Infinite didn't try hard enough, campaign is just 1 level extended into a ubisoft open world game and multiplayer was incomplete
>>
not my problem as long as I can still play the originals
>>
>>738074929
Reach was well regarded and proved there was more to halo than just the master chief it was only hated because the MP was dogshit and it was handled horribly by bungie but things like firefight, custom games and the campaign people liked.

>armor abilities were a good tradeoff for equipment pickups but for some reason they felt the need to shove in sprinting that fucked with the pacing of MP maps but whatever

>the DMR being a precision weapon was once again the flat out the best non power weapon and the assault rifle was even further piece of shit that did nothing thanks to bleed through and bloom changes from halo 3 leading to nobody using it and just spamming precisicon weapons even more than past halos

>bloom cranked up to 11 to the point that people actually complained about it despite it being in every halo game because firefights at ranges outside 2 feet became straight RNG

And instead of doing a balance patch bungie did some wierd split playlist thing where some playlists had the bloom changes while others didn't and the game was still just people spamming DMRs at eachother

>how do you feel about that?
People in the industry don't suffer enough.

Hmm, let me think...
>nobody is forcing me to buy the shitty de-make
Yep, don't care.
>>
>>738073590
Not much at all. Remakes are trash, so I just cut them out. The most attention I give them is deriding the people who buy them, but that's about it.

My only complaint is that it often occludes discussion of the original games, and ironically it's usually not even by remakefags, but instead by doomerslop fans that turn any mention of the old games into "woe is me, why is it forgotten" bullshit instead of actually discussing the old games (which prevents them from being forgotten, so you know the fact that they don't do this is proof that they're empty liars)

So maybe this will suck more for Halo in particular, because discussing old Halo is already fraught with the threads being 99% about "WHERE DID IT GO WRONG BROS????!?!??!" or "Here's how Bungie killed Halo," instead of like, sharing new maps and missions made with the new SDKs. Hosting lobbies or joining servers n' shit. Actually talking about the games. etc. etc.
>>
You just lost your soul boomer, do some self reflection instead of projecting
>>
>>738074929
Didnt Bungie also commit a bunch of former halo resources to Destiny and it's sequel so bungie didn't want to push halo in a similar direction causing overlap and effectively killing halo development?
>>
>>738076175
>>738076383
y'all say shit like this then watrch 4 hours of crowbcat
>>
>>738074929
Arena shooters died because they stopped making them after UT2004.
Now all we have is e-sport games that no one wants to play.
>>
>>738076175
This. For all of 343's many, many faults they're no Blizzard. I can still boot up my 360 and play every single Bungie Halo.
>>738076559
Is this the guy who made that funny Resident Evil 4 video? I watched that and thought it was funny.

Did he make a Halo vid?
>>
>>738073590
wheres the halo 1 remake?
you know, the only good game in the franchise?
>>
>>738075216
343 was the opposite of competent, and they tried to hold onto the original gameplay while also half-heartedly chase trends. And then of course there is the total failure in the quality of writing.

>>738076248
Reach multiplayer was plagued with problems and very mixed. Armor abilities would have been far better received if they were exclusively map pickups instead of always available on spawn, and of course no armor lock. The inclusion of sprint and jetpack everywhere meant maps had to always accomodate those abilities and suffered. The maps in general were also extremely lazy, either poorly received originals like powerhouse and swordbase or a billion soulless forgeworld knockoffs that all felt the same. The dmr was such a problem because it was hitscan while 3's br was projectile and required to lead shots. Bloom was added to the game to combat the hitscan that never needed to exist, and it was handled terribly. Also other issues like no dual wielding, the ranked playlists all sucked compare to 3, and armor customization was a years' long xp grind.
>>
>>738076559
Why do AAA gaming companies make games for Crowbcat?
>>
>>738076867
it's already been remastered and the remake is coming if you're not joking.
>>
>>738073590
This is truly fucking awful jesus christ. These Halo games really do not need fucking remakes. They need simple ports that boost resolution and framerate at most. They are perfectly fine outside of that. So just make them playable on modern tv's and PC. It still saddens me Halo has declined this much. This is beyond pathetic. Halo should be as popular today as any big Nintendo franchise or Sony movie game. Or possibly even bigger. Microsoft has completely buried John Halo the way WWE buried Cena's legacy by having him tap out in his final match.
>>
>>738078286
they were ported to PC years ago, what are you on about?
>>
>>738075216
Firefight was "chasing trends", there's nothing wrong with playing into trends as long as it's something that actually suits the design principals of the game you're making

The problem was that the CoD shit Halo 4 added undermines Halo's core design principals.

5's movement mechanics, however, didn't, and only got shit because Halo fans still have an inferiority complex around other shooters ever since CoD 4 overtook Halo as the top FPS

>>738076976
Reach's MP maps were just bad maps. 5 has sprint and it has some of the best and most dense maps in the series.

>dual wielding
Ruined the weapon balance in 2 and 3
>>
>>738073590
ODST wasn't radical enough. The only way halo can survive now is if it is brave enough to fully commit to more spinoffs like it is with halo wars. Imagine if we got the ODST-like helldiver's game they said was cancelled.
>>
>>738073590
I don't subscribe to the "MVH SOVL" underage mindset so I don't feel anything
>>
I miss first person shooter that put an equal amount of care into both the single player and multiplayer sides. The last one I can remember is Titanfall 2.
>>
>>738078432
Ported and nobody plays them. MCC has like 5k players split between the 4 bungie games and h4, although the majority of those players are definitely on either 3 or reach. Shitfinite has like 2k players.
>>
>>738078432
>>738079505
>take forever to fucking port the Halo games in a proper condition
>they still port over the inferior MCC that was plagued with issues on launch and forever killed any goodwill people may have had for 343

People begged for like 15-18 years for a port of Halo 3. It took them way too long. And by the time they finally did its just this shitty MCC collection. The brand itself is toxic because of who controls it. People know this. Yet Microsoft will never change this so the IP is dead.

>>738073590
By booting up the original, are you dumb?

>hold onto the original gameplay
Ahem.
>>
>>738078520
>5's movement mechanics, however, didn't, and only got shit because Halo fans still have an inferiority complex
Yeah sure, that's the reason. Can't be because we wanted to play a Halo game, which was an itch 5 fundamentally failed to scratch without extensive custom games tweaking.
>>
>>738074929
>Microsoft is too retarded to realize that Halo dying was inevitable
Just two more weeks.
>>
>>738082964
Also,
>5 has sprint and it has some of the best and most dense maps in the series
5's maps are Swiss cheese where every room has twelve entry points. Terrible for modes where you have to keep the objective away from the other team.
>>
>>738073590
i just wont play them
