I’ve been playing Stranger of Paradise, and it got me curious about FF1 and… Dissidia. I had no idea just how much of a clusterfuck Square Enix has turned FF1’s lore into.

I consider SoP and Dissidia to be like a new continuity that just has some of the same characters. It's interesting seeing Captain Bikke on his pirate ship or whatever, but none of the Square Enix work really changes the original NES FF1.

The thing is, SoP felt the need to address Dissidia’s lore mainly because Dissidia portrayed the original FF1 protagonist, the Warrior of Light, as another “Stranger” brought directly from the world of the Dissidia games.

>every game has to be canon in the giga timeline of youtuber lore

That’s not my responsibility, that’s on the Square Enix developers.

Thanks to Dissidia and Stranger of Paradise, FF1, FF2, and FF5 are now forever connected.

The storyline about Garland being a nice guy pushed to the brink and Lufenian bullshit is very Dissidia already. The WoL in the DLC is also based off of Dissidia, but the game often seemed like a Dissidia spin-off without him.
