Do you miss QTEs?
>>
>>738085361
Yeah, story games feel boring as hell without them. They're basically movies.
Developers cowarded out because of unironically faggots with skill issue.
>>
>>738085431
They did start to get extremely overused by AAA trash toward the end of its popularity. I can understand people getting tired of it when they have to button mash through sections of a comfy walking simulator.
>>
I miss when David Cage made one actually good (non-ironic) game in Detroit: Become Human
But then the retard just had to get cancelled when he finally did something worth a shit
>>
>>738085361
no. they have always been a retarded mechanic that makes cutscenes very annoying instead of enjoyable.

Today I experience one of the worst one I ever seen in Yakuza 2

>last boss
>dude is basically a brick wall that can't be stunned at all
>one hit and you can't do special moves on him wahtsoever anymore.
>have to spend half an hour (literally) hitting him with light punches and dodges
>finally get him to his last bit of health
>cutscene plays out with a quick time event with a single button press and if you miss you die instantly.

I legit reloaded my save and will now use a guide to get every single piece of advantage to beat the boss in an easier maner.
It also sucks that most guides now are related to kiwami 2 instead of the original.
>>
I miss cringekino like Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain

QTE ludo
>>
>>738085361
nah
>>
>>738086905
It's funny one of the few acceptable instances is basically QTE: The Game. I guess it works better if you put sole focus on it.
>>
>>738085361
The whole plot went completely off the rails once they brought in the literal avatar of the Internet as the main bad guy.
>>
>>738085361
I hated them because their gimmick was overused they needed to have a finevtimed balance to stay welcoming to me otherwise I had no problems
>>
>>738085361
No I hated them from the very beginning and I'm glad they're gone. Same with the piss filter and the bald space marines. And turret segments. And 2 weapon slots.
>>
>X is the shoot button
>A is the jump button
>during the QTE, press X to jump from the exploding platform
>>
Pragmata should've had some QTE with slider like Dead by Daylight has it instead of that mini-game
>>
My favourite thing about Cage's games is how unbelievably spacious the apartments that the MCs live in are. Lucas is a basic IT grunt but can somehow afford a 100 square meter apartment in the middle of New York. Madison in Heavy Rain is a B-tier journalist yet she also lives in a ginormous mansion.
>>

>X is the go forward button
>A is the go up button
>B is the go down button
>QTE gun is consistent with it
Even when it gives you a button prompt you can ignore it and find a different route. I wish Frontiers didn't get rid of that when they brought them back.
>>
>>738085361
I would rather have QTEs than most of what passes for cinematic gameplay nowadays like walk and talk sections.
>>
>>738085735
>>738085431
Its the overuse thats the problem. Re4 was way too much for instance even if most of them are well applied, the sheer quantity just fuckin overwhelms you. Like dodging the bolder at the beginning in village SHOULD NOT be a qte, but everything with the big lake whale should be. Hard line to walk.
>>
>>738086772
I feel you deeply
I wish his fight was as kino as the first time
>>
>>738085361
a good tip if you're missing QTEs is just to press the buttons that appear on screen.
>>
>>738089056
That won't work its not a touch screen
>>
>>738085361
Indigo had fucking insane and odd as fuck qtes it was them just making shit up before they started having controller standards

Only the good ones or the ones that have unique fail states.
>>
>put down controller/take hands off keyboard and don't do QTE
>Watch Tyler beat the shit out of Carla with roundhouse kicks

I love how right before that they struggle doing 10 pushups despite being police officers.

I agree with everything except bald. I liked that aesthetic.
>>
>>738088178
It's probably the minimum space possible in the engine. His games always have wide-area fighting so everything is balanced visually around that. Just like Max Payne's interiors are made for 16ft giants.

For some games, yes
>>
No.
>>
Yes. I miss them.
If you're gonna do CINEMATIC shit at least let me press a button.
>>
>>738085361
I only like the fake version where you can hit all the QTE buttons at the same time and always succeed like Resident Evil 4
>>
i wish more games had qte finishers like no more heroes, those were fucking sick
