>videogames have become more mainstream
>somehow there are way less arcades now despite the fact
>more budget and bigger teams assigned to videogames
>games are less complete and less optimized now
>devs are able to scan real people and have more ways to manipulate 3D models
>characters starting to look uglier than ever in realistic games
>technology keeps advancing
>less and less unique and new game mechanics are invented
>>
Because humans have stagnated. Unironically how many low budget PSX stlye indie games are out there, or actually releasing? Our eyes love low budget style but modern humans can't make games like that anymore (of course there'll be exceptions.)

I'm bored of all indies looking the same.

Gameplay are refined with play time. Artists don't play game.

Jewllywood happened

>less arcades
It's precisely because of the economics as to how games are mainstream
>games are less complete and less optimized now
Spoken like someone that didn't have to deal when shit was full of flickering, slow down, libraries full of sub-30 games on consoles capable of 60, and so on back in the olden ages, and games being hacked to pieces to be able to fit on storage or hit tighter deadlines
>characters starting to look uglier
Because characters are starting to look more and more like people, which endears the average person more to the game than how smaller audiences like you want beautiful escapism
>less and less unique and new game mechanics
Patently false. Frankly a lot of game mechanics as we always wanted them have only come forth now. Complainers are usually just too poor to try the games that push hardware to the limits, or dig through countless games to find the truly unique ones

>patently false
So there are more and more unique game mechanics now? Can you name 20 new ones from this year and last year?

Yes, but I don't spoonfeed newfags and agitators that don't actually play games. It shouldn't be a chore for you to play games and experience this reality; if you don't enjoy it, then the hobby isn't for you, and it never was.

Because now it's mostly about making money. Also both Aqua and Darkness are better than Megumeme.

arcades died for the same reason movie theatres and restaurants and bars and nightclubs and brick & mortar specialty shops and every other 'third place' is dying. Internet has made it too convenient to sit at home and have everything you want beamed straight to your living room. why go out to play video games when you can sit in your room and play?
I can guarantee there's a Dave & Busters or some barcade near where you live, when was the last time (you) went? never? precisely.

Arcades here are still alive but why the fuck is most of round 1 claw machines
