Yes, the quests themselves are not exactly varied, but the sheer volume of moving pieces in the world give you the option to develop however you like and at your own pace. The gameplay is engaging enough as well, especially if you put playthrough specific restrictions on yourself. The worldbuilding always was very solid throughout the series and you have a lot of immersion going on if you played the previous titles. One simply has to admit that the environments themselves are pretty to look at, they have a lot of character.Ultimately I cant explain the feeling to anyone, but despite massive flaws in all of the TES games, going back to them always feel like going home. And no, it is not just nostalgia. Morrowind for example I only played like a year ago. I only really started appreciating Skyrim after playing MW though.
Skyrim is the best RPG ever with the most emergent gameplay Ive seen in any game. Deal with it.
