There's been a lot of news regarding UT/DR fangames lately, we even got a new chapter update on Deltarune Yellow just a few weeks ago, its amazing to see that this community that was mostly known for making skeleton wank fangames is now trying more original ideas, some of them even have production values that surpasses the original Undertale like TS!Underswap or Wildfire, this increaseIs there any fangame you guys are waiting for? any that seem like projects that won't go anywhere (like UT Futility that has died and been resurrected more times than any other game)? Worries about the gameplay or the writing? you think any of them can fumble at the finish line like how UTY did?

If you want an example of a normie fighting Sans, there's this channel called Davobands, he normally does Dark Souls content, so he's not bad at games, but is about as familiar with shmups as your average normie. He took two weeks to beat Sans. Even his heavily edited video of the fight is 90% timelapse of failed attempts. You could also check out any stream of a blind playthrough. Those will have the full unedited footage of every failed attempt.

Once he fixed the physics and I figured out the platforming, I actually had a lot of fun with it.

The end state of this rot was them turning into near mindless mechanical zombies (those being unpainted minis in the light world) I think the dark world also had something wrong with its fountain. Like it was slowly dying, and taking the world with it.The character himself was this loud and proud braggart who would show up to antagonize you throughout the chapter, claiming you were impure tainted savages. Then later on it'd be revealed that he'd been concealing a major case of the metal rot, and was likely trying to hide suspicion by pursuing other suspected plague bearers.

Watching the HL2 documentary again, and man, those guys have a lot of good things to say about game design. I know its a completely different genre, but I think a lot of the fundamentals of design carry over. Especially they're part about extensive playtesting with very early prototypes. The levels would still be using orange and white placeholder textures, and they'd already have people playtesting them, then they'd whip up a prototype to fix the issues playtesters had and test it. I think both DRY and Naranja really could have benefited from playtesting while their individual demos were still in development, rather than after the fact.
