Can I just post this games entire soundtrack? The music alone made 13 my favorite FF.
>>

Gameplay wise the game is nothing special, and even boring most of the time, too simple and linear, but must say that the art direction and the ost is peak kino.

I could post a lot but dearly beloved has been on my mind

An ero RPG Maker game shouldn't have an original soundtrack this good.

It wasn’t really ahead of its time and actually had extremely bad reviews. Everyone kept calling it a hallway simulator, I think I saw the word hallway simulator like over a thousand times, which is pretty weird because that word instantly dissappeared a month after release day ;) iykyk

True. They're missing out on pure kino. Paradigm combat was so much fun. Fuck action combat and parry in a FF game.

FFXIII-2 has one of the funniest soundtracks ever because on the one hand there's great stuff like Full Speed Ahead which I think is maybe the best piece of music ever recorded for a video game
https://youtu.be/mTHzYWtdU_Q?si=XmaN2Y75OL_a0v4H
and on the other hand there are some tracks so bad they even took the vocals out of one for the NA release to salvage it
https://youtu.be/VMFj9izFgjE?si=QEURkwSHbtzNjqql
I admire them for trying different things with the music and it makes sense they'd do more experimentation in a spinoff, but instead of ditching what failed and keeping what worked they never really went back and incorporated the good stuff into any of the later games. Maybe it was just the result of someone at SE playing Persona 4 and deciding they should take a crack at a pop soundtrack, but using improvisation to build out some tracks was a really inspired choice that more games should try. Obviously you need live musicians to make it work, but giving some session players a melody to build off of gets you way more music without the composer needing to do extra work and breaks up the monotony of short repeated loops in games.
