What went wrong?
>>
shitty updates every 3 days
>>
>>738107114
Fate of the Phoenix will fix everything
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAIWhpHTVpI
>>
>>738107346
EU5's soundtracks being kino has saved its ass so hard
>>
>>738107445
I hope Paradox keeps making different cultural versions of EU5's main theme corresponding to their DLCs, it's kino.
>>
Every paradox game is the same
>have to watch 3 hours of youtube tutorials just to get a basic handle on things like the economy and battles
>this doesn't include the million little bugs and edge cases
>once you understand the systems, you figure out that only about 5% of the sliders and buttons actually matter, the rest is completely irrelevant
>beat the game the same way every time
>wait 3 years between major updates for some flavor to be added
>>
Not much actually. Game is amazing compared to the other gsgs Paradox has shitted out over the last decade. I only wish there were more formable countries and flavor.
>>
>>738107114
As someone who played EU2, EU3, and EU4, I can say EU4 is basically perfect (with mods). EU5 is trash. Yes, I say this despite never playing it but I know.

Parasisters, our response??
>>
is it true that the game has no missions/national ideas? what's supposed to make countries unique and give them flavor?
>>
>>738107346
>byz wank
Boring greek jobbers. Game start date should have been 1453.
>>
>>738108135
half of Paradox fans are Byzaboos, it just has to happen
>>
>>738108096
>what's supposed to make countries unique and give them flavor?
Countries basically have permanent passives that unlock certain government types and technologies. So if you play as Venice you get a little tag that lets you use merchant republic as a government type

t. roach
>>
>>738108096
They went back to events driving everything, also the situation system. National bonuses are now in the tech tree
>>
didn't everyone think it was better than EUIV when it came out? I was surprised, I expected people to dislike it like Victoria 3 and Imperator: Rome
>>
>>738108449
With the last few PDX releases you got 1/3rd of the puzzle pieces. With EUV you got all the pieces but they don't quite fit together. It's still an improvement but the game needs work
>>
>>738108449
The game itself is cool, but it suffers from a series of marginal problems that make it shit
For example, too early of a start date that makes the campaigns go off the rails, or the game being dreadfully slow
>>
>>738108031
which mods? i'm happy with eu4 vanilla but always drop before 1600 since i get too strong
>>
>>738107114
Trust the plan OP. Two more years.
>>
>>738108849
This, but unironically.
New releases start with more content than their predecessors at their own start but still need to polish mechanics, fix bugs, add QoL, etc.
Vanilla CK3 was better than vanilla CK2 but still had to catch up with quality and content before eventually surpassing it. Vic3 and EU5 fare similarly.
>>
>>738109141
except vanilla Vic 2 was much better than vanilla Vic 3, which is absolute dogshit commieslop
>>
>>738108449
the addition of pops instead of development is good, the rest was really underbaked and unbalanced when I played on launch and the following months
>control is everything, at 0 control provinces are worthless and provide zero money, but it's fairly easy to raise control and make assloads of cash
>food is a complete non-issue, letting you turn every location into a city and reach 1800s industrialization by 1500
>combat was a mess with levys vs men at arms, one patch men at arms would be useless and the next patch men at arms are space marines that kills 100x their number in levies
>trade was a joke, due to the way cost scaling worked, unless the trade route was hugely profitable you were actually losing money because the trade route added more expenses to your government than you made from trade profit
>>
>>738108096
You get extra techs in the tree depending on religion/culture and tag if they have it. They're all pointless "+0.5% ass scratching efficiency" so you wouldn't even notice them if they weren't purple.
>>
>>738108449
you fell for the shill campaign, people were already shitting on it immediately when they could actually play it
>>
>>738109382
Vic2 is getting too much praise for being such a mediocre game. Sure, Vic3 needed those 2+years but since commerce update it is superior.
And your inner chud is seething just because Vic3 doesn't give your favorite ideology special treatment.
I:R was a failure though, it released at Paradox peak obsession with making every system being just mana spending. It was somewhat fixed, but too little, too late.
>>
>>738110153
>outing yourself as a massive retard
unfortunate
>>
>>738107114
it needs 1 decade of DLCs to get good

eu4 sucked too on day 1
>>
>>738108070
Dude's been playing 6 hours a day since release
>>
>>738107114
Paradox needs to hurry the fuck up and put Age of Wonders 4 in a Humble bundle so I can cream all the DLC they've been blueballing me for too long and it's time to stop
>>
>>738110509
Well, if a junkie told me a particular heroin brand is shit, I'd believe him
>>
>>738110379
This.
But I do fear the "no mission" approach is not the right path, and it might be difficult to course correct.
>>
Nothing, the game is kino even though i'm waiting for the DLC to drop
>>
>>738107114
So what has the most flavour at this point between this, Vicky 3, and CK2? I played EU4 for quite a while but I don't want to feel Stockholm Syndromed into feeling like I need to pay £20 every quarter just to feel like I'm still playing a full game.
>>
>>738107114
needed 2 more years old development
it was basically released as early access
>>
>>738107114
>Europa Universalis
More like modded Victoria 3.
>>
>>738107114
No mission tree. It's just an AI slop free for all. AI needs to be railroaded into their historical niche
>>
>>738107114
I'm not touching this game until they fix the AI
>>
What do you do in these games they look like a board game.
>>
>>738118207
you watch numbers go up and paint maps
>>
>>738107114
Is MEIOU for EU5 out yet?
>>
>>738108070
Who plays a game they hate for a thousand hours? I can't even find the time to play games I love for a thousand hours.

Anyway still playing Vicky 2 because it just works. No DLC jew, no shitty features, no broken updates, really robust core mechanics and systems that allow you to do interesting things.
