Which do you think is the better Troika RPG?
>>738110172Love VtMB, haven’t managed to properly get into Arcanum but like the general idea and concept of it as a whole.
>>738110172Both are broken and unfinished messes, but VTMB is better
>>738110172Thats uncslop, you should be in a carehome for the geriatric
They both play like absolute shit but at least VTMB is just a shooter with minimal RPG mechanics on the side so it's not that bad.
>>738110172In terms of being a game VTMB is better. In terms of roleplaying mechanics Arcanum is better
>>738110172VTMB. Never really got into Arcanum. I did play and finish it but I thought the game kinda sucked, especially once you get to the other side of the mountain range.
Arcanum. Way more freedom than being rail roaded that you got raped and force to turn into one of the most shittest monster. Vampire is shit tier.
>>738110172>mfw dumb character's journal in arcanum
>>738110172Are we really going back to these crappy ritual threads
>>738110172Arcanum feels like the better rpg but it's held back too much by all the technical stuff, It's literally unplayable without patches and the game just looks incredibly ugly honestly
>>738110172It's not really a question since VTMB is an FPS RPG while Arcanum is just an isometric RPG so by default you're a lot more immersed with VTMB.It's true that Arcanum's spells and crafting systems are amazing, probably the most interesting and diverse in terms of the use of their results. But it's still just tiny vfx seen from far away in the sky.You could never feel for any Arcanum character as you do for Jeanette or V.V. because... you're just not there.
>>738110172They're both buggy and unfinished but I'm gonna go with Arcanum. The setting and writing are simply better.
>>738112120>VTMB is just a shooterYou did not play these games.
>>738110172Arcanum. Vtmb is pretty shit on consequential playthroughs. The first time playing it is the best shit ever however
>>738110172both are quite unique and i play them when im in differentt moods, but i think overall i enjoy playing arcanum more while vtmb has the more relatable soundtrack and overall aesthetic for me personally
>>738110172Fallout 1 is better than both of them
>>738113209I've played through it twice, it's a shooter with RPG mechanics on the side, you can give this game to anyone and they will be able to play it and beat it with ease. Now try to give Arcanum to an average person.
>>738110172CRPGs are always better than action rpgs made for zoomers, so Arcanum automatically wins
>>738110172Arcanum reigns
>>738113413All those isometric rpgs from fallout onwards are made for dumb teens. They could have been made a hundred years ago and they'd still be for edgy 13 year olds
This thread makes me question that other humans are even real.Like wtf are these opinions>buggy/broken/unplayablewhat, because in a 30 hour game you get stuck in gemometry like 2 times and have to quickload? I imagine people who say this play only super-scripted shit like Witcher 3 and God of War remake where every step is a mini-cutscene.>Not replayableboth of these games are literally well known for their imsim nature with lots of choice, both gameplay and dialogue>Arcanum is uglyyou have got to be kidding with this one, what the fuck does this even mean??>Vampire theme is badto be fair this is not your fault, you've just had it ruined by a million parody interpretations or pussified versions of it
>>738113507nigger
>>738113662>gameplay>crpggood one m8
>>738110172As much as I like Arcanum, I think Bloodlines is the better game overall. Arcanum has higher highs, but the terrible combat and balance make a lot of it really unenjoyable.
>>738113736in the very first town and shops you can:>lower prices through charisma>be so beautiful the characters lower their prices without asking>sneak and pick the lock>pickpocket the key to the shop loot>dynamite the door to the shop loot>use magic to unlock the door to the shop loot>do a quest for money and a discount. the quest can be finished with two different items>gain line of sight and teleport inside>verify the contents of shop chest telepathically before investing more into anything>kill the shop keeper then bring his spirit back just to fuck with himso yeah, GAMEPLAYyou must have been playing those turn-cringe crpgs that think dialogue options are the only thing an rpg needs
>>738114035Requires a lot of manual dexterity and skill these actions? Or are you just clicking some dialogue options based on the numbers on your spreadsheet?
>>738114175Does using pick lock or casting a spell on a stationary target require "dexterity and skill" in VTMB retardo-kun?
>>738113662Most people here love these games, especially VTMB, but denying that they're buggy and unfinished is just desperate thirst for attention. Get fucked.
>>738114297Your concession is graciously accepted. Don't even bother to @ me with your cope and seethe.
>>738113392Fallout fizzles out very quickly and the story is crap compared to Arcanum. Arcanum skill system is also more interesting
>>738110172Arcanum had the better story and (imo) setting but bloodlines was the more impressive game, especially at the time. Some of the models still hold up to modern games. Both had ludo music but couldn't be more polar opposite. I've gone out of my way to relisten to Isolated and the strings intro of Arcanum multiple times throughout the years.
>>738110172Vampoors win simply because they were less broken.
>>738110172Arcanum
>>738110172I tried to finish arcanum so many times but I get tired of it after you get to the elves. Also lots of quests need to be solved in a specific order yet the game allows you to accidently break them and softlock you, very frustrating. It also has mechanics that don't do anything like beauty attribute.
>>738110172Arcanum is an infinitely better RPG, bugs and allBloodlines is just much more accessible, not in the modern homogay way, and with its smaller scale its quality content is much denser so a random schmuck on the internet is more likely to have played it than Arcanumas much as the modern normalfag "gamer" population likes to claim they love RPGS they mostly only play the simplest games that can be categorized as an RPGeven if it was fully bugfixed and ran effortlessly on modern hardware with a definitive edition or something they'd still bounce off because its too mechanics and dialogue dense
>>738110172VTMB, but I haven't played Arcanum. I don't really care to either because I dislike steampunk. I prefer supernatural setting like VTMB. Also one of the reasons I like Thief 1 more than 2.
Arcanum makes me sad. In a finished and polished state it would have been the greatest crpg ever made.
>>738110172Story fags, all of you.
>>738113662>buggy/broken/unplayableThey are talking about the combat, whether you use turn-based or real-time the combat is just an unbalanced and janky mess.
>>738110172Bloodlines and it is even close. Arcanum is not very fun.
>started Arcanum on hard>game crashed and somehow rolled back to moderate>already finished black mountain minesI feel like a cheater.
>>738113209Bro, most people never got past the 3 ogres at the bridge of the first town in Arcanum. VTMB can be played like a shooter without any knowledge of game mechanics or builds and you'll be fine.
>>738115618Not really, the writing is mostly kinda meh. But it would have been a great game yeah.
>>738110172I prefer VtMB, but Arcanum has some great mechanics.
>>738113040>so by default you're a lot more immersedthats just a you problem if u cant immerse in isometric rpg
with community patch Arcanum Turn Based combat is pretty much the same as Fallout, VTMB combat is utter shit though
>>738110172Bloodlines is barely an RPG. It's good for what it is but it can't compare to Arcanum
>>738116972It's not fun because of how much there is of it. Most main quest locations are massive mazes with trash mobs in your way, at least in vtmb you can actually sneak and do some social shit to get to the objective except for some endgame areas.
>>738110172Arcanum is the better RPG by far but VTMB is more fun imoBoth great though
>>738110172I just want to know how in the fuck is Arcanum still the only game to do steampunk right?
>>738117304because people think "steampunk" just means top hats and cogs on everything
>>738117304It’s this >>738117891 they always go into weird clock work bullshit and never try to get the other aspects of the periods where steam power was dominant.
I'm actually doing Fallout right now and am getting so filtered by this game's age. The amount of buttons and confirmations you have to do to get simple shit out of your inventory or to buy shit or even just basic looting is mind numbing in the worst of ways. I went in expecting a short and comfy wasteland trip and ended up kiting scorpions like a retard... I'm hoping the second one is better
>>738118440How old are you?
>>738118440>I'm hoping the second one is betterFallout 2 is harder than Fallout 1. It's the better game though
>>738118531Late 20's. I've played games from this era but Fallout 1 in particular is really fucking me over patience wise.
>>738118440>I went in expecting a short and comfy wasteland triplmao those are massive(especially F2) and brutal open world CRPGs with a lot of quests and no hand holding or yellow paint, btw UI is fine most buttons have hotkeys i think theres a community mod which makes inventory management betterhttps://github.com/BGforgeNet/fo2tweaks
>>738118440Video games don't age, you fruitcake.
>>738119415posted wrong link this is correct onehttps://github.com/BGforgeNet/Fallout2_Unofficial_Patch
isometric slop is automatically bad so its vtmb for me
>>738110172Holy fuck.Still using the internet gramps? Good for you.A word of advice. Try talking about games that aren't ten years older than the avg v peruser. As a courtesy l will point you towards the RPG Codex. It is a site all about uncslop games.
>>738112530>Way more freedom than being rail roaded that you got raped and force to turn into one of the most shittest monsterimagine being this fucking dumb
>>738110172I like VTMB, but Arcanum's lore and setting sucked me the fuck in. Plus, putting passion into a low INT playthrough is always an automatic 10/10
>>738113040>VTMB is an FPS RPG while Arcanum is just an isometric RPG so by default you're a lot more immersedAll of these FPS "RPGs" where you are a one man army always break my immersion, RPGs have always been about situations where you have a group of people solving problems, even VTM tabletop is centered around a coterie of at least 3 people, not 1 single guy doing everything.
>>738120124
>>738116375The writing is stronger than any glorified dungeon crawler like BG2
>>738118440Fallout 2 is a lot worse and is filled with old pop culture references that cheapen the setting.
>>738118010>Other periods>steam powerUh...Do you know how literally EVERY method of power generation the human race uses works? You'd best be bemievin' in steam punk, Ms Swan, because you're living in it.
>>738119415I know the second one has a lot more content. I thought the first would have been more of a straightforward quest due to the time limit stuff. The game clearly isn't bad, I'm just sorta getting annoyed with having to constantly swap cursor types and the pixel hunting in towns. I try and check for bookcases or hidden stuff and end up constantly examining the wall or something.
>>738120258Still a great RPG though
>>738118440>>738120892Fallout is particularly bad, don't let it turn you off CRPGs, Baldur's gate 1 and 2 are a lot more playable, even Arcanum is better because you can skip combat with a broken build and real time mode.
>>738120124>low int dialogue>malkavian dialogueModern "developers" would balk at the effort required to do these
>>738120892>pixel hunting in townspretty sure the community patches let you high light intractable objects with hotkey like in more modern games
VTMB is more playable, but Arcanum is the better RPG
>>738110172Arcanum calls out the Jews Vtmb has a shittt sewer level
>>738110172VTMB but it's pretty close
>>738110172I don't think one is inherently better than the other, however Arcanum has higher highs (and to be fair much lower lows) so I prefer it over VTMB.
>>738120589solar, wind, hydro, tidalnone of these need steam you retard
