Methinks this game wasn't hated just fer wagglin.

Most people just can't into waggling controls. I've seen it way too many times how a mate was playing wii sports bitching about the controls while spazzing out like a nigger getting asked for his id.
>>
The Simon Says swordplay is fine, it was just hindered by waggling. Stick controls in the HD port make it perfectly playable.
>>
>>738112870
No, it absolutely was. Skyward Sword on the Wii was one of the worst gaming experiences I ever had. The Switch port was a good, fun Zelda game. A by-the-book 8.8/10.

boring, uninteresting story
worst visual design of any zelda game
fi is 10x more annoying than any earlier companion.

Looks worse than actual disney shovelware

Reusing areas didn't help.
>>
>>738112870
>Revisit the same 3 areas 3 times
>The sky, the game's actual selling point, is totally uninteresting
>Too much handholding
TotK is what Skyward Sword wishes it was
>>
>>738112870
It has the worst artstyle of any 3D Zelda

This isn't Wind Waker thread.

While the HD release cut down on the handholding, it still makes me wonder why it was there in the first place.

6-7th gen disney shovelware plays bad, but doesn't look bad. That's why it pisses people off so much.

For being the final Zelda cycle game, its great.
>>
is the original or remake better? I haven't played it since I was 12

What?

Dude's burning calories. Slight flick of the wrist is enough.

Yeah, it was shit.

It's too linear, it's too focused on the same core combat gimmick all game long even as they add new things and enemy tweaks or patterns on top, some people don't care for the higher story focus overtaking the game. Repeat bosses, repeat areas, repeat areas but with a stealth gimmick, etc. And the rather gigantic, largely pointless open sky that has less to it than WW's sea. There's some highlights, cool ideas you'd only really get in a Zelda game still, it's not totally shit and the HD version with only a few tweaks is still quite a playable game, but it's basically the increasing problems people had with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess at their apex, and many Zelda fans just were not liking that.
I may not agree with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom as Zelda games on a personal level, but I'm not surprised they're the response alongside A Link Between Worlds to how badly Skyward Sword constrained itself.

These 3 are the reasons why I disliked the game, the sword controls were basically the best implementation of waggling the Wii ever saw and I enjoyed them a lot. Also top 3 Zelda she was very cute.
>>
>>738112870
Every aspect of it was just repetitive.
>dude enemy that swaps between blocking horizontally and vertically
>dude enemy that does that but swaps a little faster
>dude enemy that does that but their sword is electric so if you hit the wrong one you get hurt now
>>
>>738118921
Sounds like any other Zelda game
>Dude enemy that swaps between blocking and dodging
>dude enemy that does that but faster
>dude enemy that hurts you with electric when you touch him
>>

It was the Wii era, you started seeing it take hold in Gamecube but even by 2010 Nintendo was all aboard on the idea of tell, not show, by just forcing the player to sit through long tutorials, constant explaining of mechanics, and characters trying to tell you more than ever what to do. I dunno if it was Aonuma or someone else at Nintendo but somehow they had the idea to appeal to newfound casual markets so hard that they had absolutely zero confidence in players compared to Ocarina of Time just kinda throwing you in to explore the basics with mostly optional hints about.
>>
>>738119048
>OoT
>mostly optional hints
The game forces you tonwatch cutscenes that tell you where the next opjectives are, every single time.
What's "optional" about that?

The opening Kokiri Forest is what I meant. And nah, it's showing you the results of you solving the puzzle because they weren't exactly certain about the 3D space. Since the camera had a high chance of not being aimed at whatever just activated or changed, they do that and it became a staple, compared to LttP being able to have results usually be on-camera for obvious reasons. I don't call that hints, just results.

"LINK YOU HAVE TO GO HERE."
Like I said, every single place you have to go is explicitly told to you, via a cutscene.
Yes, even the start of the game, when you are told to go to the Deku Tree. Then the Castle. Then Death Mountain...I could go on for the entire game.

N64 was the start of tutorial hell. Wii and DS was when it got the worst, due to casualisation, but lets not pretend the n64 was didn't hold your hand like a retard.

I guess you skipped the intro cinematic and dialogues with mods or something.
