Why didnt Konami hire these guys instead of the french guys?

THIS is what a real castlevania looks like

Not enough indie game clout, Migami Games would've been great, too.

Chronicles of the Wolf was great and their new Super Castlevania IV inspired Classicvania looks good so far.

The best I got was abusing perfect guards to work around some of its more stylish but obscenely long animations. Also launcher attacks I think you could use that and aerial in general to make it a lot more versatile.
Still not viable, but I think I was able to beat trevor with it. Either trevor or isaac.

There are genuinely people out there who only know Super IV, Rondo and Symphony. No other Castlevania games exist to them.
I've heard so many people who think Rondo is the last classicvania, then Symphony came out and the rest is history.
Bloodlines doesn't exist to them, they don't know it came out after Rondo because they never played it.
Dracula X doesn't exist to them, they think it's just an icky "port" of Rondo because they never played it.
The Adventure ReBirth doesn't exist to them, they don't know it was the very last game in the franchise (until like two years ago) because they never played it.
And they think Symphony is the best metroidvania because it has the best graphics and music on a surface level; you don't even need to fucking play the game to reach that assessment.
They can't comment on any of the gameplay features or improvements from the handheld games, because again, they never played them. They just go by the icky handheld graphics because that's all they know about those games.
>>
>>738124707
Interesting, I'll try those out sometime. Beating Isaac with the power of metal sounds kino.
>>
>>738124750
Exactly, they're not that into the franchise yet claim to be the authority on its quality and they have nostalgia for something they probably weren't around for. I've only been a vania fan for 20 years and I love all forms of the franchise, even though I kinda suck at classicvanias, I still beat them. They really don't appreciate the franchise.
>>
>>738124767
Yeah its sick. Its gradually coming back to me. You jump, slam into a combo, and then perfect guard his attack when he recovers to instantly stow the guitar.

Stardew Valley and Vampire Survivors are the most normalfag games possible and they have ugly pixel art compared to Castlevania.
>>
>>738124252
There's enemies and sometimes player characters taken from a game with a completely different art style that clashes horribly. Playing a Castlevania game often involves going "they copied that from a different game" and just accepting the bad art for a bit.

IGA said he's willing to work with Konami again, so possibly Artplay. IGA was more hands off with the new Bloodstained game and let Iida (RIP) work on it mostly.
>>
>>738130363
>IGA said he's willing to work with Konami again, so possibly Artplay
Every former dev for every company said they would like to work with their old publisher again, and none of them were brought back except for Kamiya to make Okami 2. Konami gives zero shit unless they're guaranteed to make money.
>>
>>738130512
Yeah,I know that. Still, bringing him back for an Symphony of the Night or Sorrow follow up would print money, that is, if they give him a budget bigger than a potato and two shoestrings.
>>
>>738130363
Might be fun.
>>
>>738130601
>Still, bringing him back for an Symphony of the Night or Sorrow follow up
I wish, DoS is a wet fart to end the timeline on.
>>
>>738130689
There's the novel sequel by the Fate/strange Fake author and Grimoire of Souls. I actually finished GoS, it was really fun, but obviously gutted with promised content not making it in the end.
>>
>>738130867
Man, I wish Grimoire of Souls was completed.
>>
>>738130689
DoS feels so bad only because Aria was a great ending to the timeline, it was just so good they had to make another one so of course the story was going to be weak as shit. There's really no way to do another ending as good as AoS.
>>
>>738131925
Agreed, AoS was the perfect ending to the timeline, I just love everything about that game. Also, I wouldn't mind an AU sequel to Julius Mode where you have to fight Dracula/Soma as a new Belmont or child of Alucard.
>>
>>738131925
DoS feels like a glorified epilogue or filler between AoS and a trilogy closer that might never happen.
>>
>>738125289
That drawing of Hector was made by Ayami Kojima for the PS2 Curse of Darkness game, it's not from the fan game shown here.
>>
>>738132180
It's unlikely, but I hope they bring IGA back for a third Sorrow game. Portrait of Ruin was initially planned to be one, but Iida suggested a new project.
>>
I want the 1999 game.
>>
>>738132887
Same, we all do. But will it live up to 23 years of hype?
>>
>>738131925
>There's really no way to do another ending as good as AoS.
I think a 3rd Sorrow game that resolves the time travel/Galamoth plot thread from Judgement would be perfect to end on.
Galamoth makes sense as one last antagonist for the series, and it makes sense that he would go after Soma's powers at some point.
Since the franchise follows the Belmont family lineage, some element of time travel makes sense to bring things full circle.
Ultimately culminating with Soma Vs. Galamoth would also work as a Kid Dracula callback at the same time.
>>
>>738130363
I was sad to learn the new Bloodstained won't have Yamane music. Though, the previous game's OST was kinda disappointing given her repertoire, so maybe it's time.
>>
>>738123716
He was probably thinking "this game is good enough for me to make money off it" so he made a royalty-free version, and he was right. I played them back-to-back about 20 hours apiece. LC2 did wind up leaving the more lasting impression on me, though.

>>738127270
The stage musical uses Olrox's Netflix design, but that's it.
>>
>>738131925
A lot of it seemed like they just had to do something to justify Soma and pals going on another adventure. Apparently some people have super powers and an exact copy of Dracula's castle and want to kill Soma. It was nice to see those characters again, but the whole thing didn't come together as well as Aria.
>>
The Belmont's Curse twitter just posted that there's wall meat in the game, as an instantaneous consumable like the classic style. I'm guessing there's no item inventory. Will be interesting to see how much it takes from each of the classic and Metroid-ish formats.
>>
>>738124348
Man, I'd kill for another Inti Curse of the Moon. They aren't the hardest games in the world, no modern Classicvania is honestly, but damn if they aren't fun all the same. Doing a no upgrade, Zangetsu only playthough is incredibly satisfying either way.
>>

>>738134379

>>738134621
Same, I loved those games, hopefully we get more along with M2 remakes, if the new Belmont is indeed Sonia, a Legends remake seems likely.
>>
>>738128917
nta but those are indie games so people are fine with it because they expect indies to look "old" and "cheap" but the second you get a big name publisher putting out 2D games, the normalfags lose it. That God of War 2D sidescroller got announced and a lot of them were angry as fuck about it.
People are more accepting of games looking a certain way if they think it only looks that way because of limitations. Persona is another good example of this, no one cared about PQ 1 and 2 having the chibi artstyle because it was a 3DS game but Persona 5 Tactica got announced and kept the same relative artstyle and everyone hated how it looked because that perceived limitation was no longer there.
