ITT: Name that short lived multiplayer game (or game mode) that you greatly enjoyed but fell into obscurity. For me, it was Crysis 2 Multiplayer, just dumb fun with great movement.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CWwPPe1mfk
>>738122598Crysis 2 multiplayer was that horrid Modern Warfare trash. Should have stuck with the Battlefield multiplayer instead.
>>738122598Didn't play. Enjoyed regardless
>>738122598Nuclear dawn.
>>738122598Multiplayer was a clusterfuck but I enjoyed it.
I miss battlebit
Not necessarily short lived, but fuck GameSpy shutdown. These games were never truly alive since, like Sniper Elite or SWAT4
>>738124103Wasn't it also used as an online component for the first Borderlands? That was probably the last game I played that had it to my recollection.
>>738124192The publishers/developers who cared patched the games to work without GameSpy master server.Similar to what happened with some GFWL games later.
>>738122598i will be forever mad at crysis 2 with their cod multiplayer instead of fleshing out ground wars.nuking the enemy base was based as fuck
>>738122598I still play ME3 multiplayer with friends because there's no good co-op games
The first Red Dead Redemption. Super fun cowboy death matches. The guns felt great to use. Really satisfying headshots and outplay abilities
>>738124342Surprised EA didn't shut down the MP servers for ME3 yet, remember playing it to death back when it released and I didn't even bother touching the story mode at all.
By the time I tried multiplayer that game must have been 10 years old and there were maybe 5 people online
>>738122598Assassins Creed multiplayer
I loved the Darkness multiplayer on 360. It had normal deathmatch ctf etc and the had twists on then so you could become the little demons and jump across the rooms walk on ceilings walls etc. Did condemned 2 have multiplayer aswell? Cant remember.
tribes ascend had a fun game mode, i think it was called rabbitfree for all capture the flageveryone was chasing the same flag and you got points for holding itgetting the flag and running for your life was funhaven't been able to find anything like it since
Gigantic
the PS360 era had many 'failed' multiplayer games and tacked on MP modes that had fun ideas before everything consolidated into MW>warhawk>MAG>socom 4>ME3>BIOSHOCK 2>titanfall (played it on 360)and many more
>>738123527What am I looking at? Or are you referring to Crysis 2?
>>738122598MGO2
>>738124909I remember stomping on some tryhard e-sports faggots with a buddy, good times.
>>738122598>15 years ago
>>738125174>What am I looking at? You're looking at Kino&Ludo2
>comes out of open beta after 3 years of "development">servers shit the bed and stay that way for weeks because SD is that incompetent >two months later SD ceases development maybe it was for the best
>>738122598AC Brotherhood had amazing multiplayer
>>738122598
>>738122598Ill name 5 that i enjoyed growing up>Splinter Cell Double Agent>Rainbow Six Vegas>Call of Duty 3>GRAW2>FEARI think one that is definitely entering my list of best multiplayers ever is… Nu-Marathon so im trying to enjoy it as much as i can right now. Btw fuck you guys for trying to kill it.
This shit was genuinely a great time, and was taken from us too soon.
Far Cry 5 multiplayer was really good.
>>738122598Blacklight: RetributionThe built in wallhack was a cool feature
Shogun 2Future cop lapdThose were my jam.
Tactical Intervention. Specifically the highway level where the CTs have to chase down the Ts and eliminate a VIP before he gets to a helicopter. Driving, leaning out of the window to shoot, civilian vehicles, taking hostages, it was PEAK cops and robbers fantasy.https://youtu.be/ETPn3b00EBM?t=301
>>738125401that game sucked and /v/ used to hate it. im sick of this revisionism by nu-/v/
>>738126114Damn I regret I missed it's heyday. Came across it some years after shutdown.Same with picrel
>>738122598Transformers War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.
>>738131930You were still swimming in your dad's testicles back then.
>Batman AO multiplayerFucking loved playing as Bane and smashing Joker thugs
>>738126114God I'd forgotten all about this one. I used to play it and Nosgoth and nothing else.
Metal Gear Online 2 was incredible, until they killed it for seemingly no reason. It was so good, it's playable on PC nowadays.
>>738132737Forgot picrel.
>>738130497I still have it installed for the sake of preservation. I'll never be able to access the files since they're encrypted but I just can't bring myself to delete it.
>>738122598>lead and gold>Battlefield 1943 (the small "DLC" sized game, not 1942)
>>738122598>Fat Princess>Naruto to Boruto:Shiobi Strikers Shinobi strikers in particular was/is amazing. It's still around last I checked but will probably die sometime soon even though it's the best and only online Naruto game ever and sold like hotcakes. It's a MOBA game and seems simplistic at first but the combat is actually quite deep and it just feels really great to do good at it. You can choose from dozens of different moves and personalize your fighting style in many ways so it's just dope
>>738125521YES. I remember loving the hell out of this and I can't believe UbiSlop hasn't made some freeware battle royale version of it. Honestly Assassin's Creed actually works as a BR
I miss when every game had online. Uncharted 2/3? and Bioshock 2 had some fun online as well
>>738127897To be fair, Tom clancy games always had a strong multiplayer fanbase. They werent short lived.
>>738122598>Iron Grip: The Oppression>Shattered Horizon>Frozen Synapse
>>738132263BRINK was fucking SHIT
>>738122598Dead Space 2
