I don't get it. I tried ds1 on a recent sale and couldn't see the appeal. Also the music is garbage and having no way to disable it was a shit design choice. But bravo kojima for adding the option to watch norman reedus take a shit, what a masterpiece

second playthrough of 2there is actually brillance in the mission design sometimeson my first run, west fort knot to the northern observatory for the first time i just took the comfy route up past rainbow valley and the animal sanctuary this time i decided to swing the coast past the mine so i could upgrade a monorail line on the waywhen i got near the inventor island there was a quake and tar gushing out of the sea, this would cause a player to odradek scan there, and notice the path through the water, and also the lost cargo for the inventor so you leave your cargo for the northern observatory on the beach, trudge over to inventor, who you can connect, and he gives you the otter hood, letting you swim back to your cargoand you can even tick off the inventor's aid request while youre at itand theres even materials lying there for you to complete the next monorail lineso you continue on, which leads you to your timefall shelter if you did the aid request for the animal sanctuary previously, a kangaroo to bag, and it lets you get a good view of what's going on at the bandit encampment while you pass through, as the truck is close to you but the guys usually driving the truck are walking about far awayif you just took the comfy road route you would have missed all this

Playing DS1DC on PC now , having a great time. Still getting started pretty much but I look forward to it. I just got access to the "VR Training" thing and that's actually kinda helpful when it comes to learning about how to use the grenades - before i would not throw them until a BT got "alerted" as I didn't want to piss them off but I see now that depending on what kind you're using (shower water or pee, you throw it and they fuck off away from where it lands on them which is a good way to get them out of the way. I don't have shit grenades yet but I hear that is because I've not ben actually eating any cryptobiotes, just picking them up because I've not been low on blood etc. Supposedly shit nades make BTs cluster around wherever it explodes, proving BTs become spiritually Indian, bravo kojimbo. Blood nades actually do real damage but you can basically gank yourself if you're stupid about it), they have different approaches.

STRANDINGON THE EDGE
death stranding 2 was built solely for the gamers who didn't play or even finish the originalwhat a soulless sequel
>>738158586People have said that DS2 was heavily rewritten during production and I believe them. It's such a disjointed mess compared to the first game. DS1 could be confusing but at least the story and gameplay tried to work towards the common themes and ended with an effective message.
you people are disgusting, I'm a porter not a trash collector.
>>738159206kek
>>738154537Combat is still pretty jank so I'm ok with slightly dumber AI, though I do think they give up searching for you too easily.
>>738154537>>738159819At what difficulty did you guys play? These fucks see you from a million miles away (even at night) and have 180 degrees peripheral vision when I played on "to the Wilder." Thank God for the SL-LW Sniper Rifle. I couldn't give two shits about the combat, I didn't want to play DS for "killing" humans. I wanted the paranormal shit and comfy gameplay.
>>738160075TTW. I thought their peripheral vision was pretty shit. While stealth is effective, going rambo works well, but you need to keep moving and break line of sight to get them to come to you. If they're chasing you you can run around a building and shotgun them in the back.
>>738149340>what you said!

>>738160448That webm always gets me, kek.I managed to learn how to "abuse" the AI eventually, but yeah the combat was not what I particularly enjoyed. I am glad however that there are many ways to play the game and that Kojima added enough stuff in his game so people can try pretty much anything and it'll probably work.
>>738160685>ghost hunter suborder>sweet it's a trike race>no, it's just more shooting
Did you guys know there are actual real killing grenades just called "Grenade"? Found some in a MULE postbox in the Armed Survivalist base close to F7 (the snow area). Also it's interesting to note, if you're like me and tried to collect everything in the game, the weapons from the humans have a slight thumbnail/game model variation compared to the Ghost Mech versions. Ghost Mech ones have tar covered all over, even more visible on the Heavy Machine Gun. I thought it was a nice little detail they've added.
>>738161068I've only used grenades once in this game and that is when I botched an order and rage quit by blowing it up.
>get to a base/outpost/hideout>connect the Q-pid for the time or deliver order or raise connection level>proceed to claim all materials, auto-arrange cargo to make sure the XL sizes are at their fullest>dump everything in the Magellan's Private LockerWas I the only one? Shit I must have wasted considerable amounts of time doing that, and then I realized by Chapter 10 that bases started filling up pretty quickly by themselves and I fast travelled to all the ones I could and repeated the same process for no reason. I know I must have wasted around 40-50 hours doing this + making all roads and connecting the monorails wayyy too early, I was fully done by start of Chapter 8. Oh well, shit was fun at least.
chlorobiotes are great for walking through rivers without having to hold the triggers
>>738161546i thought i could get away with doing this for my first attempt at a second run, and not do standard orders at all, just mains subs and aid requestsbut by the time i done half of the level 2 roads my stocks were empty, the preppers were empty and i had no chiral crystals

>>738165873He keeps hinting it with all the giant moon stuff, SSS posts in-game, the Aeronautical Engineer/Phantom Smith/South Fort Knot orders about experimental rockets to try to fly over the chiral clouds and even now day & night cycle. Heck, the company's intro is still that Ludens dude planting a flag on the Moon with the Phantom Pain whale. He said he has DS3 all written up and shit, but might not direct as he's working on PHYSINT and OD as well as the DS movie and anime. I wouldn't be surprised men will conquer the challenges of the Death Stranding if DS3 is ever made.
>>738155956Oh no, Debra Wilson is a good voice actress. It's just, ever since they started modeling characters directly on their voice actors, it's become a bit comical how prolific she is.
>>738139402It's not fun to play. Both games feels like a chore. I'd rather be an irl courier than playing this boring game. You are basically working as a courier, for free.
>>738166420People will post shit like this then go back to playing another open world/multiplayer game where theres just as much walking and probably a horse's arse bobbing up and down on the screen for 100 hours
>>738164834Yeah. Kojima just hasn't quite figured out open world games. He gets closer with every single game but he stilk hasn't gotten there.Although I also suspect the budget of the DS games is a decent bit lower than that of a Horizon or Ghost of... game.
>>738166420Here's your (You), faggot
If there's one complaint I have is how much it copies the first game's story beats, sometimes it doesn't even make sense.>Here's BB again, even though it's not really BB and you don't need it>Higgs is still alive and a bad guy for no reason. BOSS FIGHT>also here's Clif- I mean Neil, go fight him idk lol>obligatory cast of characters with tragic backstories>also, here's Charlie fulfilling Die Hardman's role from the first game but he has Die Hardman's voice
>>738142734I saw a light post up in one of the mountain peaks in between the artist and the mother by the river running through the enemy camp and I have just GOT to get up there and dismantle it. Fuck him. None of you are gonna show off your climbing skills like that without me saying something about it
>>738144528Didn’t play the game award
>>738145639I’ll agree that the game feels very dynamic at times. In the first game, in the last delivery where you go back to the Eastern region, I climbed over the final mountain range instead of going around it. Then I watched Pekora play that delivery and I realized I completely missed a Catcher encounter by going across the mountain instead of around it. There’s also at least one Catcher in the previous mission where you have to go from the edge of the Tar Belt all the way back to Lake Knot
I'm playing DS1 for the first time right now. I feel like getting a truck just made the game way more boring since I can take lots of cargo for multiple recipients at once. Also pic related dialogue was peak cringe. I didn't really mind any previous parts but holy fucking shit the dialogue here was so self centered around this engrish speaking bitch.
>>738146397The skull boss was actually surprisingly easy for me. But the fucking mech squid killed me like five times. So far the rest has been a breeze. Though the Ghost Mechs when you search for Tomorrow took me a couple tries
>>738148981Dollman is literally the least soulful thing about the game.
>>738167335Oh yeah, these characters/section was the worst. Rainy in DS2 is up there, as well.
did they ever reveal whos the father?
Can you even catch the skull boss (Magniceps)? Is there a way to spawn it again?
>>738155956It’s literally Troy Baker / Laura Bailey all over again, but even worse now because she not only voices characters but also facescans them. I didn’t watch whatever show she acted in back in the day and I found her performance in this game average at best, so for me she’s just an average VA who’s in everything for no real reason.
>>738167498Nah it just spawns a dolphin there
>>738160731I disagree on the combat, I love going all Crysis and beating the shit out Survivalists / Brigands with my boost skeleton and my HV staff. But I agree that it’s great how “open” the game is with letting you take on enemies. There’s so many different ways of dealing with them and it’s just trying them all out. Of course, some players are content just using a shock bola gun

>>738161546Honestly, both games sort of train you to value ceramics and metals like they were made of gold. At the start of the game you’re trekking halfway through Australia for a meager 200 ceramics but by the end you’ve got all kinds of materials coming out the ass. In the first game, I ended up using up all my private locker slots after filling them up with nothing but ceramics and metals for repairing the roads
>>738167957i take other players lost cargo from the lockers and throw it at brigands take that you cunts
>>738161873in the first game i made a point of not walking through rivers because it upset lou but with dollman being the new lou in this game i just walked through rivers at all times and told myself it bothered him.

>>738163374The Horizon Zero holograms made me seethe with rage every time. At least the Cyberpunk space ship looked cool but these fucking robots just pissed me off. Every time I came across one I would go up to the structure and either change the hologram or just dismantle the structure itself
>>738163604>>738163847Nice pics anon.
>>738168309my memory of Horizon was that i loved the combat and the world but the voice acting and writing was the worst ive ever heard in an open world game

>>738166523My favorite is the “moviegame” argument. I have like 200 hours on DS2 and I can’t even remember the last cutscene I watched but it was probably like twenty seconds long and played at least 50 hours ago
>>738168225If you go into water while he's talking it interrupts him and he goes *glug*glug*glug*

>>738167335Don’t rely on the truck too quickly. One of the main complaints I heard about DS1 (and even more so DS2) was how the truck trivializes everything. What I did is make a rule - NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES drive the truck off roads. Stick to the road and walk the rest of the way on foot. There’s only like a handful of orders where you MUST use the truck, for everything else just walk
>>738168357Thanks. If I encounter more Porterbros I will make more pics and share them.
there should be a mod where you can throw dollman into the sky and just walk away
>>738168675Just keep throwing him into rocks.
>>738168190based. i used to love doing that in the first game.
>>738168671The biggest sin for me is that trucks and trikes not only trivialize the game but how fucking noisy they areIt conpletely undermines the meditative experince
>>738168671It is true that truck completely replaced the tri-cruiser for me in DS2, and I did notice that I was using it considerably for a good portion of the early chapters, but once you get the PCC Lv2 with the zip-lines and the Coffin Board I just switched strategy completely. And when I got the Stabilizer Lv3, I completely dumped the Coffin Board except for some Express orders. Shit, now I just use the truck and let it auto-drive and go get a drink or something when I'm doing some easy Standard Orders that don't require much work. I was pleased by how much variety I've managed to go through in DS2. I don't recall much of my DS1 playthrough, but I think in both games once you get to the snow mountain areas it just feels like a completely new game every time. Building the perfect zip-line network is addicting as hell.
I like Mexico. The Eastern Region in the first game was comfy too but it made me feel really sad for some reason, especially when I went back to finish off all the standard deliveries I missed at the end. Mexico feels more alive for some reason. I wonder if it’s just the games themselves having completely different tones or if it’s the slimes and the spiders making the world feel more alive
>>738168872Building zipline networks is really fun. I dunno what it is about them. I think it’s just the idea of tediously trekking through hard to maneuver environments and watching your efficient solution come together one PCC at a time. Then you actually ride the zipline and it’s the most boring thing ever. Death Stranding really is “Maybe the real treasure was the friends we made along the way” the game
Tomorrow is cute but she’s so fucking photo-dysgenic. Fragile and Rainy look great in every photo I take, but with Tomorrow I feel like I have to autistically time the shot to get a half-decent picture out of her.
>>738169030>Then you actually ride the zipline and it’s the most boring thing ever. Not only that, but FUCKING DOLLMAN just screams half the time you get on one, stupid doll. I still like him though.
>>738168671I basically only used the truck to get all port knot area places to 5* to see what they can give me for it and I'm gonna do the same with junk guy to get fast suit to lvl5.>>738168791I didn't mind the trikes because at max speed I felt you needed to be very careful to not knock on the rocks. Had the sense that driving well still required skill even if it was very forgiving on the delivered material since it couldn't fall off. Truck is simply baby mode.
>>738169156Don't forget to take pictures of your cute daughter every day anons.
>>738169030>>738169168YYYEEEEAAAHHHHH!!
I wish cargo canons could shoot a little higherWould be great to have canons for going up and jump ramps for down as zipline alternatives
In the first game, I distinctly remember being genuinely scared by the flying BTs. They just look fucking scary - these otherworldly asymmetrical blobs of… something floating silently in groups in the distance. I didn’t even try killing them until way later, thankfully they’re hardly ever in the way. Even after realizing how actually harmless they are, I still find them kind of unsettling. But in DS2 they’re somehow not scary at all. When I saw in DS2 I wasn’t hit with the usual unease, I just went “Hey, it’s you guys again, long time no see!” I guess in general, BTs are less scary in this game than the first. But it feels like it’s especially the case for flying BTs
>>738169156>>738169219unrelated but is there a time limit with the photos? like if you take too long does the crew get annoyed with you or do they just keep cycling through poses and giggling infinitely until you take the photo?
>>738169529I remember going down the dead end path near the photographer and finding them there, they were just surreal and interesting at first, and twice in the first game you can get swarmed by themalso during a gigas boss fight In DS2 theyre only ever out in the open
>>738169584I can testify that its its a long enough time frame for ejaculation
The last mission with the adventurer teaches us that you can use the big jellyfish to transport human cargo But does it work for normal cargo or do you get penalized like the magellan does?

>>738165873Hoping we do. I really don't want a Death Stranding 3 if it is just going to be on Earth again, retreading old ground for the 3rd time because that is what Kojima does if he doesn't actually move onto something new. How about some low grav delivering? How about some microgravity with six degrees of movement delivering? How about some really crazy technological structures that weren't affected by the Death Stranding like Earth was?

>>738174986are there any close ups of what he looks like?
