Enemy ai is betterYes, really. when you are in a position the ai cannot reach you, they will run away in morrowind. in skyrim and oblivion they will stand there waiting for you to get down while you pelt them with arrows.4. progression is more meaningfulbeing proficient in a weapon skill in morrowind makes enemies take less shots to kill and require you to manage your stamina less overtime. the first part is technically true in skyrim and oblivion but in both, all enemies scale with your level even bandits and rats so being at level 100 one handed feels barely different than one handed 50the areas where morrowind's combat fails is that directional attacks only change the values of damage you do so there's very little reason to intentionally go out of your way to not do the attack your weapon was meant for (poking with spears, chopping with axes, etc.)
