It doesn't make sense to love Botw but hate Totk, you should embrace them both as complementary pairs of games.

They aren't a complimentary pair of games though.
BotW was an amazing, original, game with incredible/fun exploration and TotK was just a lazy copy of thar game with shit lore, bad continuity, and terrible exploration.
>>
>>738148005
TotK wasn't worth waiting 6 years for.
>>
I just got a Switch 2 and I've got the expansion pass so I get the upgrades for BotW and TotK for free, should I replay BotW first or jump into TotK? I've beaten the former a couple of times but I never actually finished the latter.
>>
TotK was the most disappointing game I've played in 35+ years of gaming. It should have stayed a Zonai DLC for BotW. Stretching it into a full game was a mistake.
>>
>>738148005
I don't like games that force me to build shit and its why I loved BOTW
>>
>>738148005
TotK was the only good one
>>
>>738148005
I enjoyed both games, but I enjoyed TOTK because it's 90% the same as BOTW....I could have gotten virtually the same experience just replaying BOTW. So even though I had fun, I still sort of feel like I was cheated out of my money, you know? I would have been happy if I paid $30 for an expansion pack, but as a full price game it was a total rip off.

idk, I beat Botw in 2023 and then I jumped into Totk in 2025
>>
>>738148832
might as well try totk out even if its just a bastardized version of botw, but also know that if you dont end up liking totk it will be kinda hard to go back to botw for a replay right after because you kinda already got your fill of the gameplay style through totk. honestly it just depends how recently you last played botw, since you really cant play the games within a year or two of the last time you played it
>>
>>738148005
no, faget
totk was the first zelda game where you (the plaeyr) are losing if you aren't posting viral social media clips of your wacky creations.
that is unappealing to me, so i think the game sucks!
>>
>>738149615
Totk is superior
>>
>>738148005
if anything totk made me hate botw, it ruined a serviceable prequel with it's retarded plot
>>
>>738148005
Yes it does. I hate the crafting mechanics in TOTK and all the Zonai shit.
>>
>>738150567
yeah giving the player a relatively complex building system with endless ways to solve puzzles with it, just to give 0 puzzles more advanced than those shape in hole toys for 3y/o's and make it so the most efficient way to play the game is to fly over every obstacle and engage with nearly nothing is truly superior than botw's design philosophy
>>
>>738150775
yeah Totk is superior to Botw
>>
they're absolutely not complementary, they suck to play back to back since you're retreading so much territory.
i'd recommend people play one or the other, or both at least a year apart if they must.
>>
BotW set a template for future games.
TotK did not deliver on that concept. Simple as that.
>>
>>738148005
The story implied a bipedal goat man railing the ancient blond chick.
I'll say no thanks to that.
>>
MM took 1 year, why was TOTK shit enough they couldn’t make a simple new map?
>>
Both are shit. Nintendo should be barred from making games.
>>
>>738148005
Zelda franchise died after twilight princess. I won't acknowledge any of your shitty follow-ups
>>
>Return to Hyrule!
>Visit all the cities!
>See all the familiar faces from your last adventure!
>They don't recognise you
>Nothing you did happened
>Botw never even existed
>>
>>738151950
I played TOTK right after finishing BOTW. It was so annoying to have all the people you knew forget about you. You went to a guy's wedding, helping him build his fucking city and he's like who are you again?
>>
I hate both.
>>
>>738148005
as good as botw was TOTK was incredibly generic and iterative, it wanted to both erase botw's story and also be a sequel to it, leading to convoluted nonsensical absence of some characters (kass) that are fondly remembered and other weird interactions with established characters that act like they never met link in botw

not to mention the lack of sheikah stuff, which is "gone" resulting in a botw 1.5 without guardians, which is, quite frankly, souless
>>
>>738148005
totk feels like a paid rom hack, glad I pirated it and made nintendo seethe
>>
>>738152979
congrats man, you have standards
>>
>>738148005
It's like eating vanilla ice cream and then a waiter comes out with another bowl but this one has sprinkles
>food analogy
yeh
