Most winfags who try linux get filtered in less than a year. "Windows bad YOTLD" is the current youtuber groupthink trend
>>738151130>ragebait or incapable of understanding statistics>call itPaid advertiser, actually.
>>738151885follow the trend line

Dusted off my NVMe and installed Cachy today. Kinda forgot what a snappy desktop felt like. >>738151265Might be counting Bazzite?
>>738150748For those who don't think about Linux outside of the occasional shitpost thread and are therefore unaware of the context: Linux usage on Steam has been trending upwards for a long time, but the Linux usage reported in the March 2026 survey was abnormally high, so the drop from March to April likely brings it closer to the "real" number. But it's still the second-highest ever recorded, and more than 1% higher than it was in January.
>>738150748Linux...lost...
>>738152434>Might be counting Bazzite?Bazzite has a separate entry from Fedora. The list does seem slightly messed up.
>>738151265>who the fuck is installing fedoraIt's the new ubuntu, and from my personal experience one of the distros you could safely recommend to someone and that person wouldn't have a miserable experience unlike with ubungu or arch.
Installed CachyOS the other day and finally got linuwu-sense working reliably. That allows my laptop to run at full power as if it were using Acer's Predator Sense on Windows.Look at these fucking Shadow of the Tomb Raider benchmarks. Both are maxed out settings, DLSS turned off in Windows, as evenly matched as possible. As a former Fedora user, I am loving this distro even more. I haven't really experienced a big learning curve yet and ChatGPT is brilliant with troubleshooting.
>still over 10% of English-language users
>>738155107Noticed that ambient occlusion was mismatched, so I changed that in Windows and got them actually matched this time. 14549 frames rendered. CachyOS is still 30.6% higher than Windows 11.
>>738150748Why does Windows keep winning? It's not fair.
>>738155219The previous month looked (and still looks) like bullshit, but the latest data is pretty much in line with the post-Windows 10 support trend. Of course it won't increase linearly forever, but I think Linux English-only is staying in the double digits.
>>738156447it's really notlinux's growth is incredible considering it's all people installing shit on their computersthere's a wall on linux adoption now that comes from OEMs not having a distro to ship with hardware for all the retarded normiessteamOS will be that, once it's out windows will start bleeding hard

Is the main issue people are having moving to Linux still not knowing what to configure after something has been installed/how to configure it correctly?
>>738157823no, look up what margin of error means
I'm not a PCfag but you've to be the biggest retard to use LEE NUX for gaming purposes. These morons are literally on /v/ shilling for a non gaming OS, that's pathetic. You're better off telling people to become consolefags instead of being a brainrotten cretin.
>>738158284>i don't even use computers and never used linux and i think my opinion mattersit really doesn't, should've just said nothing
>>738158105Cope harder. A 0.81% move is very noticeable in those stats, it's like weighing 1000 people and suddenly seeing the average weight drop by several pounds. the survey is reliable enough to trust big changes like this.
>>738158284They are valve shills, they started to heavily shill linux when the deck released.
>>738158360are you retarded? have you ever seen poll results and how they deviate?
>>738158428>answers with another question and ad hominemsI accept your concession
>>738158284>non gaming OSname a gaming OS
>>738158514Horizon OS
>>738158493you expect to not be insulted after admitting that you think survey results are tantamount to a fucking hard census? The margin of error is a statistic expressing the amount of random sampling error in the results of a survey. The larger the margin of error, the less confidence one should have that a poll result would reflect the result of a simultaneous census of the entire population. The margin of error will be positive whenever a population is incompletely sampled and the outcome measure has positive variance, which is to say, whenever the measure varies.
>>738158352So you're just an idiot or pretending to be retarded for teh lulz? You're just another nu-male s o y drinking bitch from the early 10's being hipster about using a shitty OS for gaming. Again, hi dust off your PS3 and homebrew it with the thing faggot.>>738158421>DeckWhy would any PCfag even buy a shitty tablet? IDGI desu.>>738158514Anything Windows because that's what devs support or buy a fucking console.
>>738158360The previous month was an outlier, so the drop more likely reflects the data just becoming less fucked. Basically just look at the graph you're refusing to look at. It's still double what it was about a year ago.
>>738158685>So you're just an idiot or pretending to be retarded for teh lulz?are you? you're actively advocating for using devices and operating systems made for morons>using a shitty OS for gaminglmao
>>738158627Every survey has some margin of error. That doesn't mean "durr ignore all changes". If the change was tiny, like 0.05%, then yes it could easily be sampling luck, but 0.81% is big enough to be meaningful.
I'm tired of pretending Linux is an actual alternative to Windows
>>738158779>using unoptimized modern AAA games Yeah dude, you really showed me. How about you send these samples via email to these developers if you're going to pretend to be intelligent. It cost nothing to try fagtron.
>>738158779>the reason linux often gets slightly better results than windows is because it can't render half the effects on the screenlel
>>738158785no, it means that you should stop being mentally ill and craft schizonarratives out of polling margins of erroragain, you don't fucking know what a margin of error is, look at any political poll and you'll see each one trading multiple percentage points
>>738158916>>738159017>it doesn't count because i don't like the result
>>738159093Learn what a margin of error actually is. Political polls usually survey 1000 randos and have 3% error. Steam surveys hundreds of thousands of people every single month, their error bar is tiny.
>>738158796How is it not?I say this as someone who uses windows but really for the vast majority of PC users Linux would be fineThe only really issue is that everything ships with windows and few see a reason to move over.
You don't even see Mac OS hipsters on /v/ but since.being contrarian has been /v/ culture for well over 15 years if not 20+ by now, Linus was the safe hipster option since Apple is too gay for /v/ which is already too gay compared to early 00's videogame forums. >>738159174Keep trying to sell your shit or /v/ McDonald enjoying Obeast.
>>738159404Photoshop doesn't work there>b-but No
>>738150748How does Marvel Rivals play on Linux compared to Windows?
>>738158785You're not wrong (and no I'm not the other guy) but this is the same survey in which Linux went −1.15% from January to February in what was very clearly not people leaving Linux but rather billions of Chinese people suddenly logging on and all using Windows 10 (which is why Windows 11 also went down, and no, it wasn't people switching back to Windows 10 all at once and then going back to Windows 11 again a month later). And no, I don't know why Linux went +3.30% from February to March which we can see was far more than the expected post-Chinese-New-Year return to normal. March is also an outlier in the English-only graph as seen in >>738155219. Did that many people actually switch to Linux in March and then switch back in April? Why would that happen in March 2026 of all months? It's not as if Steam Deck had just released; in fact I'm pretty sure it's been completely out of stock for a while.I think it's more likely that the March results were bugged. There have been visibly incorrect survey results before, and sometimes Valve has corrected them. I think it was the December survey when things were adding up to more than 100%, for example, and then the results were adjusted a few days after they were initially released. The drop in reported Linux usage from March to April is from a crazy outlier back down to approximately where the overall trend says it should be, or at least a lot closer to it.You're not wrong that big changes usually mean something, but unless you have a reason that thousands upon thousands of people would switch to Linux and then switch back in March/April 2026 in particular, I don't know what the story here even is supposed to be. Linux has been trending upwards for a long time and nobody is schizo enough to believe that SUDDENLY everyone got tricked into using Linux and then went back to Windows (and if you take the graph at face value then it still shows a lot of those people not switching back).
>>738159404You don't play videogames. Go back NOW >>>/g/
>>738159312>Steam surveys hundreds of thousands of people every single month, their error bar is tiny.are you fucking retarded? if it was as reliable as a fucking census then you wouldn't have english oscillating between 35 and 39%what a fucking midwit you are
