People are out there scalping $2.89 a box Pokemon Pop-Tarts for $30, and you're still working a 9-5?!

When we were kids, the sprinkles were Pokemon shaped. Now its just an AI Pikachu on a box.

If there weren't faggots out there willing to cough up that money then there would be no scalping in the first place.

>>738151493if you weren't a retarded wagecuck niggerbrain, you'd understand OP's point is that certain subgroups of people are susceptible to FOMO, you can sell them branded tie in products for stupid scalped prices and make bank.Though really i think it's mostly pokemon adults that are like this when it comes to gaming, almost exclusively them. GBA carts of pokemon emerald sell for hunnid's easily.without the fucking label.
I really don't see the issue with buying multiples of something to enjoy and then flip for a meager profit. The seething here seems really outsized. Like if people are buying up pallets of stock that'd be one thing but you guys act like there is an actual ethical issue around pop tarts with a slightly different boxprofiting off of nerd tulip mania is smart. Seems like a lot of poorfag seethe stemming from their own FOMO. There is no real moral or logical arguement against the common forms of scalping which is a fan buying some for himself and some to sell to make his money back and a slight profit
>>738151503We live in the ruins of a superior civilization.
>"hmmmm this limited edition pop tart is probably gonna sell out I should buy a few dozen for $100 and sell them to make $1000"There is literally nothing wrong with this
>>738151283listings don't determine actual value lmao, no one but other scalpers would buy this shit for that much
You are no longer the target audience.
>>738151972>dude, don't you want digimon to finally overtake pokemonNah, i'm good.
>>738152317It's not illegal but it's against literally every retailer's policies, but only the people stupid enough to outright say that they're scalping ever get caught. >>738154278>Had 2M in crypto Fake money >Switched to 2M in cardboard Still fake money
>>738154278do these people realize someone will actually have to buy these tacky pieces of cardboard off of them?
>>738151401It's not off model, it's just a different design. They use that design for marketing/merchandise purposes for whatever reason.
>>738151401There's been a weird round headed pikachu they use for random marketing for a long while now. I think he first appeared around the time of Gen 5? He was used to the dream world renders, but he's usually used for things like branded merch and collabs (like mcdonalds ones). I have no idea why they have kept an alternate version of his design around for so long now, without committing to it. It almost seems like some higher up at TPC really likes this version of the character but can only use it when they are going over Game Freak's head.
Wish US retailers did what Japanese ones do. They cut the plastic seal when you buy a box, making them impossible to resell.
>>738154504it will sell to someone else living the dream adinfitum, until eventually a streamer buys it to open it all
>>738154504Yes, and they'll pay 10x the retail price.

>>738154687Do sealed products even appreciate that much aside from 1st edition of the very early sets?
>>738154658>>738154687the prices are imaginary so you'll continue buying the packs. you will end up holding the bag like beanie babies or every other artificial investment before that
>>738154278Don’t they still have to pay taxes?
>>738154250It says right there those two sold you moron
>>738154785Pokemon cards are literally an anomaly now, nothing else appreciates quite like them.Sealed product is sold with this assumption that it's going to be a winner of a box with amazing pulls, despite the statistical improbability. For other trading cards, it's often assumed a sealed box is going to be a shit pull, and they are only worth anything if they are simply an old enough set that even the guaranteed worse pulls would still be worth a bit. With Pokemon you can sell a box from earlier in the same year for multiples of what you paid, just cause the audience is that stupid.
>>738154782It only gets better if people want it to and look forward to it. Being a hopeless doomer faggot only contributes to the death spiral.
>>738154429>>738154504He could list all that shit on ebay and it would all sell. Dumping his crypto into something physical was a smart move, something you rarely see with cryptokiddies.
>>738154996That implies the people buying pokemon cards are significantly less intelligent than every other tcg. Checks out!
>>738154593>without committing to it.Seems like they were considering it since people found a model of the round head Pikachu in the Teraleak. Seems like they ultimately decided not to go through with it though since the Gen 10 Pikachu doesn't use the model.

>>73815128337 yr old here. I was a huge pokemon fag as kid. I had to have every piece of shit with the pokemon logo on it. I don't care about the people that want to collect anymore.I fucking despise scalpers, and I used to feel bad for the cunts who wanted to enjoy their hobby, but at the end of the day, it's shiny cardboard.Every motherfucker who buys Pokemon cards, whether to actually keep or sell, has been suckered by The Pokemon Company into buying fucking cardboard. I know it's reductive, but go fuck yourselves anyway.

>>738156263yeah just proxy it, who cares. does anyone even play pokemon tcg lol
>>738155501They just need to increase the chances of getting the rare cards, that is all. The problem right now is that they are so rare that scalpers just slurp it all as soon as they leave the factory, so there isn't really any incentive for them to stop their current methods. Fixing it means less sales and less money, they will never do it, shit is fucked.
>>738151401There's 3 pikachu designs, the chunky one you see on it's first card, the anime variant, and this new one, which has a defined neck for some reason.
>>738153797If it was just tulip mania for nerds I wouldnt mind. What I despise about Pokefag scalpers is that they arent just normal scalpers that scalp product and shut the fuck up about it. Theyre the kind to rob stores and shoot little girls to get their fix. They are easily worse than drug addicts.
>>738156481Tulipmania only lasted three years, this has been going on since 2020
>>738156252There are many sites, but it also depends if the card is damaged or not. You can use this one that is simple to use, then check ebay and tcgplayer for confirmation. If you are going to actually sell and want to be on the safe side, just go to a convention and sell it there, there are a lot of scammers on ebay.https://www.pokedata.io/
>>738156252It depends how many you have and what's valuable. If you want to get rid of everything fast make a spreadsheet of every card, or a photo album. Apps like TCGPlayer can be used to just scan and show a going rate for each card. Find out if there's ever a card show in your area and approach the big name vendors.

>>738155864It's really sad how accurate this shit is. Going to target to pick up groceries and seeing some faggot with a snapback walking around the cards or by customer service gives me such an incredible rage.
How did Pokemon obsessed manchildren get their hands on so much money that it became a lucrative meme to scalp them for everything Pokemon related?
>>738153221The thing is, the people buying them are the same people selling them, its a never-ending cycle because money only exchanges fat, greasy hands. Entry-level players of the tcg, non-autistic collectors, and people who aren't faggot "investors" have next to no access to any of the hobby unless they want to put out hundreds of dollars. I haven't been able to get packs of cards for retail prices in months.
They're not even the blue frosting ones from the 90s. They just put Pikachu on a box with no changes.
>>738156839the way these fags look and act, they're the same people that would be addicted to gas station rub-offs, which is to say they don't have the money and are probably both paycheck to paycheck and maxed out on credit cards. To do something like they're doing, you have to be a certain level of impulsive that's only found in retarded poors
>>738156252If they're "cool" or rare cards, look up what they're going for. If yours are in good condition, you have to get them graded before anyone will buy them.My father threw away my massive collection I'd spent every cent of my childhood money on, had almost all of the base set holos incl. Charizard and Mewtwo, plus a bunch of ultra-rares from gen 3/4 sets like several of those gold star ones that go for hundreds apiece now, because he had a manic episode and decided that no trace of my or my brother's childhood should be allowed in their house. Still pissed about it
>>738156839Statistical likelihood. Some millennials inevitably have more money than they know what to do with for one reason or another. It's likely they cared about Pokemon at some point.

The Internet puts you in touch with so many people that those stories are bound to crop up while, on the other hand, it's not an interesting story to say>my parents did not throw out my stuff and they are sitting there

>>738157551I thought it came around sun and moon.
all i'm getting from these threads is that these "scalpers" are just the real fans who are attracted to a meta layer of the tcg and the people seething are just secondaries bitching about barrier to entry because they vaguely remember owning a booster pack in the 90's.It's a tcg that deliberately operates off of FOMO and artificial scarcity why you think this is an ethical deliema or shouldn't be subject to marker forces when it concerns a luxury good is beyond meMy friend gives me pokemon cards sometimes. He both collects and sells and genuinely likes the hobby and the games. I just like how pretty/creative the cards look and don't care about their value. I like the smell too. That's a big part of it I think
>he's too poor to buy empty cardboard
>>738157283Consequences of people having kids because they think they're just supposed to because everyone does, instead of having kids because they actually, really, truly want kids and are willing to undertake that responsibility. It's hugely harmful for both the parent and the kids they'll end up having, to promote child having and rearing as nothing but sunshine and rainbows and meant for every single person ever, instead of the reality that it's for those who really wanna have kids and are willing to deal with both the upsides and downsides rather than hoping it would only be easy and happy times.

When I worked at Target, these guys would call every single day asking for cards, and I'd always tell them we had 'em, even when we were out. If they bitched, I'd say we must've just sold out. Most of these fags are in a group discord that stalks the vendors around town anyway.

>>738159573*the broker he sold it to turned around and sold it for 16 million
>>738159369Speed seems like a genuinely good dude. Logan Paul is a worthless fucking NIGGER.
>>738159573You got the sales mixed up.Logan publicly bought the card for a few million and then sold it for $16 milion. But the details behind the sales are so fraudulent that Pokemon collectors don’t acknowledge them.Logan isn’t a retard, he’s making a shitload of cash with scams
>>738156518Ok so its worse. Whats the point in mentioning that? People still didnt commit murder in Tulip Mania even when a tulip could cost the price of a house.Pokefags are mentally ill.
>>738159369>bunch of obvious mistakes in his statement >probably to bait replies and spread the idea that you should start speculating on manga NOWits grifting all the way down

>>738154278I think if I could go back in time and change one thing I'd kill Logan Paul. I feel like his existence being erased would help push us towards the good timeline.
>>738151283>free shippingSo after the seller pays for shipping and eBay fees, they're probably getting like 20 cents on each sale.
>>738155916Yes, the Van Gogh museum in the Netherlands. Needless to say I don't think the museum will ever collaborate with Pokemon again.
>>738157897Fair enough sir, fair enough.
>>738154593I hate looking at this, lightbulb Pikachu is easily the worst variant.
>>738160035That's antiseptic
that stabbing that happened at that pokemon center in japan was crazy
>the people who actually PLAY the tcg now enjoying building any meta deck for 50$ because the market is flooded with the cheap low rarity versions of all the cards
The funny thing about the pokemon TCG is that you can buy absolute top tier decks for like $100 at the very most since the vast majority of cards are like less than a dollar. So you can have top tier players with their entire collection being worth like 1k at most while the "investors" dump hundreds of thousands in cards.
>>738159462what a lot of people ITT refuse to admit is that a lot of these scalpers ARE og fans. It's a hobby within a fanbase founded on consumerism and a extrapolation of the very thing the TCG itself is based off of. It's just sour grapes. I know people who started with green/red/blue and treat it like scratch offs yet still have a genuine appreciation for the show. The people complaining about scalpers are the ones themselves scalping. It's literally scalpers all the way down. It's not gonna be a popular thing to say but almost everyone involved in the TCG does this to some extent. A lot of the bitching is from people never involved to begin with finding it interesting from the outside but being priced out (usually by margins of a few dozen USD because they don't understand supply and demand) and getting sour grapes for their consumeristic blue balls and hiding behind moral grandstanding
>>738160447The normies must be healed by killing them with guns and knives REEEEEEEEEEEE AMAGAWD DIE NORMIESSSSS DIE CHAD DIE DIE STACY DIEEEEEEEEEEE DIE
>>738160494you are seriously overestimating the amount of people that play the pokemon tcg. the speculative market is easily 5 or 10 times larger than the legitimate enthusiasts
>>738159432Last I’d heard he was gonna try it with Yugioh, but I guess he gave up when he realized nobody actually buys much product there.
>>738151283>$30 for hours of workMan, people are fucking desparate these days

>>738151283>People are out there scalping $2.89 a box Pokemon Pop-Tarts for $30, I have a soul.

>>738151283$20 for poptarts? wtf?
>>738159432Logan is a literal tool in every sense of the word. He has no real interests of his own. He just promotes what his handlers tell him to. Whatever his jewish overlords recently invested in is what they'll have him shill. This week it's graded shonen manga.
Someone should start jugging scalpers.
>>738160480>>738160491The even fewer people who play the online version can get the code cards for literal pennies (like seriously 1 cent each) because so many pokemon packs are being cracked.
>>738160579I know how old Catch 22 is, I was commenting on modern book covers of old classics.
>>738160698ra05 already did that in my area. everyone was sold out before the set dropped in OTS and within a week at retail stores
>>738160954Hey buddy I think you got the wrong door
Retail arbitrage is pure cancer. I used to occasionally get crazy good deals at stores but now you got people constantly scouring the stores scanning shit and looking for anything to resell.
>>738152172no, the bostom cake poptarts tastes good

>>738151283Ok but is anyone actually buying at that price?
when covid ended they revamped ebay to send you a tax form if you made more than 500.00 so idk why people are still using it like this as a side hustle scalping stupid shit like this. i heard it was so bad that a lot of people stopped using it because in some cases if someone was even using the site casually, they wouldnt have old reciepts for shit they bought years ago to prove how little money they made even if it was someone just doing a digital garage sale.
>>738161567Image in the OP are the sold page on ebay
The average citizen can barely support themselves because the people in charge refused to properly educate their population, allowed advertisements and media to mold them into consumer cattle, and created an economy where most people are broke as shit due to the first 2 points, creating an entire economic system dedicated to scraping money away from the slightly richer (but just as stupid).99% of scalpers wouldn't be doing it if they had better wages. You should blame your government for allowing things to get like this.
The fuck is up with the pokemon hysteria? Like cards I can understand but any random ass shit branded with pokemon?
>>738160698>YGO getting scalped to the shadow real>No low rarity variant for all the relevant cardsThe worst of the two wolrds. Thanks jewart

>that PSA10 card i bought 4 years ago has 10x in priceUh why are pokemon cards the new NFTs now?
>>738161685This is the unfortunate reality of the situation. People are doing this because they're desperate and no longer see a normal job as a path to a decent life so instead we get this deranged shit. Same reason you get people dumping loans into meme stocks and crypto currencies. Combine this with the average IQ dropping and things just compound and get worse.
>>738161749>Can't use asia english cards because uhh.... you can't and stop asking.
>>738160035Okay he's out and another moves in.Problem delayed by maybe a few months.
If you scalp, then I'll just defer to bootlegs or pirating. Like with Chrono Trigger for the Super Nintendo, you can kiss my ass if you want me to spend 500 dollars on a cartridge that square doesn't even sell anymore.
The tcg market won't crash until counterfeits are good enough that nobody can tell the difference between real and fake.
>>738162464I can download that to my phone in less than 2 seconds while sitting on the toilet at Walmart. >>738162464I bought one for $3000, and resold for a huge markup at $60,000. Mine was a mint condition first edition chrono trigger game that came with a first edition chrono cross.
>>738151283pokemon go was a mistake. introducing the franchise to onion normalfags and wahmen was the worse thing ever for the franchise. it all went downhill after that. now you get to see shit like this

>>738151283My salary averages out to about 56$/hr. I would have to sell 3700 of those a year to maintain my current income. I'll stick to my day job.
>>738156263>I used to feel bad for the cunts who wanted to enjoy their hobbyThe common variants of every card are dirt cheap. If you're genuinely playing the TCG just as a game, you can easily make any deck you want.
I helped my mom with her hoarding some this weekend. Some of the old weird pokemon junk stuff I had was in one of them.
>>738157662its earlier than that
>>738156839These people are comparable to disney adults. They likely are very irresponsible with the money they have or are willing to go into debt to acquire their cards.I can also see plenty of them being cryptotards who have money left over from scamming even bigger retards with NFTs or memecoins.
