How's The Secret World? Can you play it as solo only/single player?I just want more Urban Fantasy kino but barring VTMB and the Shadowrun games there's fuckall. What about VTMB2, can it scratch the itch at least? It's not like one can choose much in this subgenre...Otherwise feel free to recommend, and yeah I already played every Persona, SMT, Shadowhearts etc.
Yes, you can play it solo. There are dungeons you have to do as part of the story so expect some queue times for those. There is still a playerbase albeit very small.I do recommend it, there's really no other game like it.
>>738153441Shin Megami Online , try it
>>738153441What the fuck? It's still alive?
>>738153742Yeah, it's been in maintenance mode since very shortly after the relaunch. Must be very cheap to keep up.
>>738153725I actually played IMAGINE back in the day. Also played a private server of it some time ago but it got shut down or something. Is there an active private server still?
>>738153912Apparrently Project New Moon private server is still online, since 2023
How's VTMB2?
>>738153678>I do recommend it, there's really no other game like it.Explain
>>738153441Try Unavowed if you like graphic adventures.
>>738156015I'm not going to be too articulate but the game is extremely charming despite the janky animations and outdated graphics. It does a really good job with the atmosphere, the game in general is well written, it's full of charming characters and the story was going somewhere great before they had to pull the plug. If you're into the supernatural at all you'll have a great time. Plus the story does reach a climax in Tokyo, you just never get to fight the real big bad.
Game looks like jank kino
>>738156434Thanks.I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077 now and find myself thinking almost every minute how I'd just wish it was instead something like Shadowrun on the same budget and I was fighting some occult shit instead of the same human enemies in different outfits foreverI guess Secret World might scratch the itch, do I need to grind at all?
>>738156765Nah it's not very grindy at all
>>738156821Thanks, already downloaded.Any other similar recs?
>>738155008If you liked VtM:B and wanted more of that, awful. If you wanted a vaguely atmospheric brawler with some plot it's kind of an alright game. Characters and animations are mid, no guns, only recently got melee weapons (still no inventory). It's just kind of boring for me, 6/10
>>738159013Damn, it's really surprising they would fuck so bad>no inventorywhat the FUG
>>738153441I played it on release a very long time ago, I'm still pissed about what happened with this game, dammit I remember hyping like crazy seeing the first trailersI wasn't aware it still was alive
>>738153678groups are only required for like 20% of game content, half of that being dungeonsthe other 10% are events organized by the community and mods so you'll be surprised that this game has a radio station, 2000s era website and active Guildsactually, pleasantly surprised is a good word for how you will likely feel about the combat system, stories and locationsgame is filled to the brim with details, to the point where I actually didn't play when tired to not miss out on the writting, atmosphere and humourblitzing through it is the lowest IQ move possible, don't play for endgame content>>738156434>you just never get to fight the big badwasn't there two (tiny) updates recently? where you clear South Africa and the Nuclear family dungeon with the follow-up being towards Congo for Marquard >>738159013eeeeh the first Maine area has a potent theme like VtM tho it's obviously very HP and SK too
>>738160135is the game still separated in two with the version from before the relaunch and the new version? which one should be played?
>>738160201Legends is the relaunched version with the simplified skill system. The combat there doesn't have much depth but it's still preferable to the old version in my opinion because they cut out the most tedious farm in the game (what passed for endgame content in the old version).Otherwise it's pretty much the same.
>>738159313It's not an "RPG" it's basically a brawler with story and some elements of nu-VtM. It is what it is>>738160135The music is okay and yeah, the hub is atmospheric enough for what it is, but it's barely WoD and Bloodlines at that. The main flaw of this game is it just has no edginess to it, everything is watered down.
>>738160201You can't play the original unless you already have it.only SWL for you, cakeboy
>>738160201afaik they closed registrations for the OG one, though people who still have TSW accounts may log in therethe one running is secret world legends which has ... missing content, but if you never knew what's missing it won't bother yougame has 1 year worth of shit to do easilyI enjoy mixing the punisher and wizard skill sets so I could zoom around kite / aoe mobs>>738160295I open up the website when I wanna get some 2000s vitality in my bloodstream
>>738160306Fairly certain no one can really play the original anymore unless on private server, all digital version became the relaunched version
>>738160393Nah I'm pretty sure the original is still online and you can even still pay for a premium sub if you're so inclinedYou just can't get it if you didn't already have it
>>738160474Can you switch characters between both? (not that I could remember my old account)Which one has the most players? It's weird how both games are coexisting. usually when there's a relaunch the original version close down
>>738160569I don't think so. I had to create a new character when Legends launched so if there was a transfer service it at least wasn't automated
>>738160295I ... disagree, emphatically. The Lumie story is edgy enough to stand out tho there is no gore>get drugged and kidnapped in the intro>have spine chip grafted>do that one quest in the Kingsmouth police that requires you to kill yourself>your handler panics when the chip no longer workslater on she gets astro-fucked by upper management for taking your side and begins to nosebleed defending you, but still does itas for other edge, I distinctly remember in Transylvania they talk about ingame MISA (real life religious nutjob organizations about drugging, abducting and forcing orgies) with one girl wanting to kill herself from the abusethere's also the cannibalism and missing orphans
>>738160689You're talking past each other. That guy is talking about VtMB2 and you're talking about The Secret World
I played this a lot on launch and don't really remember it much, haven't touched legends. Whats the most interesting faction? I remember the templar being kind of...faggots and a feeling that they were most likely to "lose".
>>738160815Indeed, Elder.
>>738160689>>738160815Yeah I was talking specifically about an anon wondering how Bloodlines 2 was and as I was telling him, it's basically a brawler and not really edgy enough to belong in WoD or VtM. I had thought you meant the music of Bloodlines 2 as well so that's what I was mainly referring to. Sorry for the confusion though
>>738158032extremely loosely connected to what you said but Vampyr>>738161159no worries, I too apologize for sleep-posting
>>738162118>VampyrThanks, already played it on release. Was quite atmospheric at least and great OST but the plot got retarded towards the end for me.Also hoping The Sinking City 2 is good. It's hard to get a lovecraftian game with actual combat and RPG mechanics that's not just a walking simI liked the first at least.
>>738153441i remember liking this game for the puzzles and not giving a shit at all about the raids
Best MMO I have played, surprised its still going
>>738163518What did you enjoy the most about it?
damn, patching the resource database is taking ages
>>738163952Was an actual decent mystery story with weird unexplained mysteries that you slowly unlocked. Community was great as well
I played a little bit of TSW around 2012/2013ish maybe? I think I cleared most of the first big area but I fizzled out doing dailies to progress past the school quests. I did do the first dungeon a few times. I came back a few years later and messed around I think, enough to have remembered how active the game was beforehand and how dead it was even then. Then I decided to give it another shot, got through the first major area on SWL and made it to Egypt before fizzling out again. I was a retard who never got involved with the community much during my first initial go. Like some other MMOs in that late 2000s/early 2010s sweet spot, I wish I had been able to give them more attention while having a few more years of maturity under my belt at the same time.It does have a nice atmosphere, cool to run around a dreary foggy coastal town and sometimes see other people going down the street in the distance, doing whatever.
why is a magic bee giving me magic powers
>>738165978It all becomes clearer as the story unfolds
>>738160393You can play the OJ, I literally did today. Couldn't sub though, they didn't accept my card.
if Guild Wars 1 can get a golden age decades later TSW can get a bronze age in 2026.
Literally impossible
>>738165354I guess I'm reinstalling.Only now in my mid 30s do I regret not being a big screenshot guy over all the MMOs I've played.
>>738166793Templar has the best cosmetics by far so it's easy. Deck outfits for Illuminati are basically all trash. Dragon's are okay.
>>738166852Illuminati seems most fitting for meTemplar doesn't seem like they would like me making deals or abusing lovecraftian entities, demons etc.Dragon seems lolrandom and nonsense esoteric mysticism
>>738166793I did one with the Dragon and got surprised with the prostitute blowjob near the beginning.
>>738166189surprised that nickname wasn't already in use
>>738167148>abusing lovecraftian entitiesThe final boss of the first dungeon is mini-Cthulhu.
>>738167806Had it since launch day- was backing up old HDD with old screenshots as i was browsing /v
>>738166848Still a pretty game.
>>738153441Lovecraftian kino
>>738153441only thing i remember about this game are fogs and that one mission going into a missing dead guy's nightmare or something
