I mean its not that good......
It peaks at the manta ray (where I dropped it)
>>738158290it's a good game but a bit overhyped. SJ, IV and V are all better. it was great for its time though.
>>738158290shut up you nigger, it was great
>>738158290Persona 3 is better and harder
>>738158290I feel like it is the "definitive" SMT game, it's the Ocarina of Time of the series. Personally I like Strange Journey the best, but that game is obviously and intentionally a departure from the rest of the series.
It annoys me to no end that everyone who talks about it talks about Maniax. It would be like using P3FES or P3P or the PSP versions of P1 and both versions of P2, P4G, P5R, SMTVV, SJR, etc.
>>738158290Genuinely, I think the entirety of SMT up until maybe Persona 4 and SMT 4 was genuinely trash. But it was that sort of janky trash that was enjoyable, like Deadly Premonition. SMT 1 plays like shit and is a really grindy Japanese Dungeon RPG where instead of exploring mazes you're basically just having an excuse for a battle simulator. The plot is also cheesy and jumps the shark. But also it has a lot of really great ideas baked into it and a shockingly deep philosophical take on the Law and Chaos spectrum that goes way deeper than any D&D alignment discussion has the possibility to (especially nowadays where trannies took over).SMT 3 is where there was a paradigm shift, but it was still sort of tethering itself to the previous paradigm. SMT in that era was going through a transitional phase. Persona 3 is also slightly connected to this mid-shift, but I think manages to push through it way harder until it was solidified with Persona 4.
>>738158290The characters were underdeveloped
imagine fucking chiaki senseless on a sand dune
Please give me a good, easy jrpg to get into the genre. anything on snes, ps1, ps2 idc
>>738160151>Into the genreThe GENRE of JRPG, the genre of Monster RPG? Or do you mean the series?Cause the answers, in order, are Final Fantasy X, Pokémon Fire Red/Leaf Green, and SMT 4.
>>738158865It's really not though. The other games are generally not like it at all. SMT1 is personal, SMT 2 and 4 are like Hollywood sci-fi gimmick movies. 5 is the only one that puts any effort into mimicking 3.
>>738160151smt 3 has an easy mode on the hd remake
>>738158290Correct.It's fucking brilliant. Once in a generation master piece.
IV was better>B-BUT MUH GAMEPLAY>B-BUT MUH WORLD OF STRENGTH >B-BUT MUH ONE MORE GOD REJECTEDcope
>>738158290the last JRPG i got addicted to.i didn't care if it took 40 minutes, i would back in and out of fusion until i had EXACTLY the skills i wanted. my end team was fucking beast.then P3 came out and i would only care about 1 or 2 skills.then P4 came out and i would take whatever it gave me first try.
Back when I was 14 I played this until some 10 hours after Thoris it worth picking it back up from start or should I just look for a save that's after Thor?
Should I play the remaster or emulate on PCSX2?With remaster I could probably use cheat engine for 2x speed without fucking up the sound so I'm very tempted to just go for the remaster
>>738164556The remaster includes a ton of QoL features that make the PS2 version obsolete. Some retard might come in here and scream that the PS2 has SOVL because maybe one cutscene doesn't work as well because of widescreen or something, but genuinely the gameplay is just overall better in the remake. It's a no brainer.
>>738164497Play from the start, Thor isn't that far into the game.
