>>738162679I think this is the main goal for the buyout. They are trying to become TCG-stop (really Pokemon card-stop) because that is what is keeping them afloat in recent years. Funny is their prices are getting worse and worse for Pokemon cards, and I heard a rumor the Pokemon Company cut them off as a retail chain. This will only make things worse for TCG collecting, especially Pokemon. I don't see anything with this deal going through making a positive change, and could be very bad for both eBay and TCG hobbies in the long run. Probably the used video game sale market will be impacted negatively too.

>>738162925I genuinely think what is happening is a State Actor trying to boil American Society by ruining another pillar of its online retailers. I think State actors have been behind most of the public acquisitions which consolidate major industry and then ruin public market for the masses. Effectively throwing American society into the chaos we're in today. Markets can simply not function if there is a secret state actor involved who effectively has infinite money and can't lose. It would be like playing chess against someone who can just put queens on the board whenever he pleases. Now, the question of "Who is funding this" could be anybody. It could be Israel, could be the Saudis, could be Russia, could be China. The 'Who' doesn't matter because we used to have an SEC that would quickly find and clamp down on this obvious market manipulation, that is, until it was stripped down to nothing. So if EBay disappears prepare for every domino to fall in the gaming industry. Nothing is safe, not Playstation, not Steam, it'll all get consolidated and turned to shit.

>>738163336And GameStop is paying the other 2/3rds. How do they have $36 Billion to spend? There's no way they got that much out of liquidating their retail properties. They didn't have enough, and the vast majority of them were leased anyway. GameInformer was worth almost nothing. Kongregate was worth almost nothing.Anything they had of value was tied up in the retail business, and again, they held real ownership of very little of that.Even when you take the favorable lease agreements many GameStops had because of their long term presence, and how the leasing companies would usually be willing to buy them out of those agreements so they could lease the space to someone else for more money, it still isn't nearly enough. There isn't $36 Billion in value there.

That is why people buy on ebay.As long as other platforms don't implement a serious guarantee program, ebay will always stay on top.Cardmarket did that for example and there's literally no reason to buy TCGs on ebay in Europe.
>>738186508gamestop turning into a qvc-like studio sounds like satire
>>738187487It looks like it's going that direction kek Whatnot is popping off and eBay just launched their ripoff eBay Live. It's going to be nothing but pack opening soi facing purgatory
>>738159553>ruin eBayWay, way, too late for that.
>>738186974eBay does have a policy that makes returns far easier and convenient. Other websites try to balance the power between buyers & sellers, so refunds are available but only in a timely manner and with a solid reason.>Cardmarket did that for example and there's literally no reason to buy TCGs on ebay in Europe.Cardmarket has to be the most efficient and fairly priced marketplace out there, which we had a video games equivalent.
>>738177217The lightness around her breasts has my brain going into overdrive imaginging whats under them.
>>738187790
>>738187773Another problem is sellers canceling the sale because of market fluctuation or private negotiations with other people. On cardmarket the sellers can't do that. I got Cardmarket to force a retard to sell me what I bought if he wanted to keep the account kek. He had to go and buy the cards and then send them to me. As it should be. Don't sell shit you don't want to sell or you don't have.
>>738164468For me it was when they stopped allowing runescape toons
>>738178872It allows you to specify the EU or continental Europe on the UK site, where on earth are you?
>>738159319i actually still use ebay quite a bit mostly as a seller and this sounds like trouble. i dont know how i would be affected but something tells me this will be bad
>>738159319more like egay
Is ebay still around? I have not used it since 15 years ago
>>738159553>they are going to actually ruin ebay holy shitchinks already completely ruined it and ebay themselves finished it off with fucked searches, fees and filtering
>>738189475>Anon tries to put a vidya for sale on eBayDo you want to sell this to Gamestop for $3 cash or $5 credit instead?>NoAre you sure? Members gets a special bonus.>YesThe fee for selling games on eBay is $0.40 per item + 15.8% + transaction fee, also your listing will be buried under all of Gamestop's unless you pay $1 per week for boosted visibility.
im all for ruining ebay. the more the internet goes to shit the more communities at the local level will start to recover because the internet became useless. mainly because letting chinks and other 3rd worlders flood the white internet was a mistake
>>738160724I use it for old computer parts and other obscure stuff that doesn't get sold in retail. When companies liquidate or flush their old inventory, they put on ebay for cheap just to get rid of it. I have a good T480 laptop and have gotten replacement keyboards, chargers, and batteries from ebay with no hassle.
>>738159319Why did Gamestop's stock go down instead of up on this news?
>>738159319What's the point of buying ebay? How does it help Goystop?
>>738190790eBay has a extremely large secondhand vidya market. GameStop would benefit greatly from that if they bought eBay.
>>738160724me, especially when buying books
>>738190790It makes the CEO look busy and keeps him salaried that bit longer.
>>738190790>look at game on gameslop's website: 55$ used>look at game on ebay: 35$ usedCEOs, private equity funds, and shareholders will look at the free market at work here, and decide they must destroy it.
>>738190790they can resell their shit from the stores easier (they take anything as trade ins now)
>>738191321It gets worse when you realize everyone goes by pricecharting when estimating game prices and pricecharting is just an average of ebay sold listings
>>738160724My 13 year old T530 thinkpad exploded something powerwise a few weeks back. It's fucking impossible to find anything 15in and durable enough to survive ten consecutive drops onto cement these days but Ebay existing allowed me to buy a completely mint corporate surplus replacement with top-trim internals for $110 shipped - drop my existing 16gb ram and 4tb ssd in it and i'm back up and running in five days flat. Now I've got my bath-masturbation machine back and am happy as a clam. if ebay doesnt exist that doesnt happen though, who the fuck is buying niche computer parts sight unseen?? The only reason i was able to like-for-like is because ebay has actual people that message you back when you ask them to check what the screen resolution is
>>738191391Couldn't they just have made a deal with eBay to become a privileged seller?Outright buying the company is overkill
reminder that reggie runs gamestop
>>738191890Not anymore. Dude left the company years ago.
>>738173082Superstonk retards are a strange kind. They acknowledge that the financial system is a massive scam with corruption as far as the eye can see, and yet they are still under the delusion that rules can be used against (((them))).
>>738191787But then gameslop wouldn't be perceived as being worth 100 bln and then (((Cohen))) wouldn't get his 35 bln bonus.
>>738192295>his 35 bln bonus.Imagine you invested in your friend's company and the dude told you:>Once my business makes its first million, I'm giving myself a $350k bonus
>>738164468> the moment ebay stopped selling porn it was dead and useless to meI see porn on there right now
>>738159319Dear God, they're going to enshittify ebay to wring it dry and cash out. Nothing will ever replace it btw
