>Swappable analog gates

I burned through several xbox controllers and other third parties through the years because of the shit ass potentiometers but eventually i bought a chinese guilli kit with hall effect and I had no problem since. 4 years already and it's working perfectly still.

Next gen controller is already being made. It looks a bit like a fishbowl, and you put your entire hand into a type of sonic goop. And, you get 3D access to the UI basically. It doesn’t have real buttons, ahahahah…… it’s using your electric signals being sent through your fingers from your brain. Ive used the prototype before, works very smooth. But some guy died using it before so it’s not ready.

>>
>>738164307
Theres already a 4th gen controller which basically is only a ring you put onto each thumb and each index finger. And they communicate wirelessly, very accurate and comfortable. It uses magnets to determine what keypress you made, can easily program any number of buttons, can also do other things like an invisible keyboard so you can type anywhere, all done using magnetic positioning. Basically like summons a 3D grid in real space, but in code. And just uses your magnets to determine what you’re doing. It’s pretty cool.

>Steam is so consumer friendly!
>>
>>738164594
Developers are working on a new game controller which uses your eyes to control the screen. Basically this was an attempt at skipping the laborious task of getting your “cursor” to the correct place. So it assists you with menu movements and also character positioning. It all feels very natural, you just look at it anyways and it does what you’re saying, almost as if it’s reading your mind somehow. But it’s all done using unconscious eye pattern recognition and retina analyzing. Magnets are frequently used in place of traditional hardware, to allow some added flexibility.
>>
>>738164705
This is literally because steam is providing drivers that android and windows and fringe linux distros refuse to provide

Windows could fix this tommarow, its on them
>>
>>738164610
I don't really know who this controller is for aside from valve cultists. You might as well just buy a $30 8bitdo that works everywhere inside and out of Steam with zero setup.
>>
>>738164035
The new Xbox controller which isn’t in use today is much better. It’s actually a doughnut shaped controlled, and you put your hand inside of it and grab onto a filament and hold. It’s a metal filament which uses the heat from your hands to determine what actions you’re making. It’s much quicker than traditional button presses because you don’t need to move your hands. It’s also laser quick latency because it’s all done instantly using heat algorithms.
>>
>>738164981
My schizo theory is that it's designed to force more people onto the steam ecosystem. You buy this controller, realize it doesn't work on your pirated games or EGS/GOG, then you start buying games exclusively through Steam instead because Valve sucks with hardware refunds.

Why would you buy this controller for emulators when none of those games can use any of the features of this controller? Just use a DS4 like a normal person.
>>
>>738164981
The next gen controller is already happening. It looks almost like if you raised a keyboard off your desk, and put your hands under it. Inside this alcove is actually thousands of infrared sensors which are projecting a 3 dimensional matrix capable of monitoring your every hand gesture in real time and transferring your input into a 2 dimensional space. The advantage here is that it’s totally programmable and efficient as possible. Theres no need for touching any hardware and getting frustrated that you missed your turn by 1 degrees. The infrared laser tracing of your hands gets it right every time. It also allows for tapping your pinky finger to pause the game, for example. It’s no wonder why this control format would out perform traditional hardware. Sold like crazy already. I heard of it last week and bought one, it’s so good on my high score screen.

>>
>>738165553
No
>>
>>738165413
Theres a better way to play old console games. It’s a type of full body suit that you put over your clothes, which tracks your bodies movements. So to turn left on the screen, you have to scream “NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER”. And, to turn right, you scream it faster. To buy an item you have to whisper it quietly you need to whisper “Hitler didn’t do anything I wouldn’t have did too given the situation”. And to level up in the game you need to rape a bitch irl and the suit tracks your body movements to make sure you really raped that bitch.

It basically says "literally anyone, from the sweaty neck beard in Washington state, to the brown poo covered indian, can use this software, for free, distribute for free, share for free, copy for free, edit for free, make the entire os graphics made up of your penis for free, we don't care. OUR ONLY RULE , is don't use it in a SOLD PRODUCT, because we want this to STAY free".

Doing it otherwise opens up Microsoft to taking it, and suing older users for copyright infringement, because they argue we used their code, despite THEM taking it. Its happened before.

Buying it day one and my only question is about when steamOS is getting an official release, bazzite fell off after the developers decided social politics was better than getting consistent updates and now that I'm on cachyOS I'm fine with it, but the second steamOS is officially out for desktops I'll reformat my drive and install it.

It literally said it works on mac too if you just add as non steam game.

>steamOS is getting an official release,
might be a long way away, if ever
even on handhelds not named deck it's still pretty ass, even those in beta support for steamos

then the task of valve supporting a bunch of systems with nvidia gpus or intel cpus? dunno, sounds like a huge task they don't want to deal with

Honestly my assumption was that it would get the release alongside the steam machine since its basically just steamOS without the built in restrictions it needed for the deck, I'm also waiting on it because cachy has a hissy fit over vr and if the frame releases with steamOS on it, that means it'll be integrated much more smoothly if I just get a desktop version of steamOS

if you are paid to push something, you are shilling.
most shills in regards to steam are hired by epic games, but now this controller threatens the dying profits of xbox and sony.
they are being hired to shill "against" steam.
the only brand of them dumb enough to mention a product they DO want you to buy are 8bitdo, who are trying to expand.
Sony and xbox don't want to expand, they want to avoid shrinking.
So long as people don't buy steam, THEIR stuff is still gonna be bought.
Epic.... Tim Sweeny just HATES valve that much and goes out of his way to uphold a onesided feud.

Seems like the use case for it there is because C lacks `defer` like modern alt-langs. And they want to be extra-sure about explicit scope.

Just enable steam start up on boot and forget
Just spend 10 seconds to add non steam games to your steam library

I hope it won't sell out

It's a controller, idk why people are freaking out about stock.
The cube will be interesting though. I hope valve give priority to people who've already paypigged for the "eck and controller

but they just restocked thousands of game consoles in the last week
>>
>>738169998
Because it's Valve they probably have like 5 of these in stock desu
>>
>>738170226
nah, they actually have a semblance of a marketing plan it seems, and are aware of the hype. I'm sure it will sell out day1, but their restocks will probably be much faster.
>>
>>738169998
even if it's not stock, it's probably first come first serve in batches

if you want it soon and not in december best to order asap

Worth just for the ease to repair with just a screwdriver and mailing Valve support for replacement parts
