post halo 3 bungie
Halo 2 is better
>>738165020he wasthat ending is because they were taken out one by one
reminder than Jun is voiced by a jeet
>DUDE there were hundreds of upgraded Spartans that kicked so much ass>NO you can’t see them, uhh they all died right before CE so THERE.>DUDE humans aren’t forerunners, who told you that? A guy who worked for them?>UH no he was crazy, he MEANT to say that forerunners were these ugly grey dudes and this one guy turned himself into a HECKIN VAMPIRE>DUDE, DUDE, the Flood? Get this. They’re not some sort of bioweapon left behind by human forerunners>They’re from BEFORE the forerunners>They’re FORERUNNERS to the FORERUNNERS. Is your mind BLOWN?Fuck prequels, fuck tie-in novels, fuck expanded universes. Everything post CE ate away at the whimsy and wonder of traversing the first Ring in Halo CE. Yes even Halo 2 and 3 were guilty of this to a lesser degree. Its the Star Wars effectCombat Evolved stands on its own as a weird scifi love letter, and everything else only served to diminish its charm
>>738165448It is funny that even when the franchise was at the top of the world it felt like they were never able to recapture the basic cinematic quality of your first intro to the flood
>>738165448Humans being Forerunner was only implied in 2 and 3, dipshit. Jaimie Grisemer has confirmed this multiple times and said Jason Jones only got it in his head during the dev cycle for 2
>>738165448Before Halo 4 dropped I rolled my eyes at each new Spartan reveal. Its like how Palpatine ran the shittiest genocide ever and Order 66 has 150 surviving Jedi Masters, Knights, and Padawans running around before A New HopeReach sucked but the custom games were god tier
>>738165590>Humans being Forerunner was only implied in 2 and 3, dipshitVery true. We cannot forget the asterisks in guilty spark's dialogue, sisters.
>>738165770What fucking dialogue in CE implies that humans were Forerunner?
>>738165838>Last time you asked me, if it were my choice, would I do it? Having had considerable to time to ponder your query, my answer has not changed. There is no choice. We must activate the ring.
>>738165934THAT IS 3 YOU FUCKING RETARD. YOU ARE PROVING MY POINT. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. WE ARE NOT DISCUSSING "IS THERE AN IMPLICATION IN BUNGIE HALO THAT HUMANS ARE FORERUNNER", WE ARE ASKING IF THAT IMPLICATION EXISTED PURELY IN CE AND THE ANSWER IS OBVIOUSLY NOT
>>738165838NTA but doesnt Spark call you a reclaimer in Halo 1? Reclaimer seems like “hey, this incredible shit belongs to you, remember?”He hands him the Index, instead of the Elites (who actually wanted to fire Halo)He treats your arrival like it makes total senseIs genuinely taken aback when you don’t want to fire the rings. “But of course you knew that. I mean, how couldn’t you?”Sure he didnt come out and say it but the implication is there.
>>738166065That line is from The Maw in CE
>>738166129Two betrayals. Another Two Betrayals line as well:>Monitor: More or less. Technically this installation's pulse has a maximum effective radius of twenty five thousand light years, but once the others follow suit, this galaxy will be quite devoid of life, or any least any life with sufficient biomass to sustain the Flood...But you already knew that, I mean, how couldn't you?
>>738166124>>738166129lol humans are just the inheritors of the forerunners, that makes them present forerunners. get it? is not that complicated.
>>738166209>Two betrayals. The fuck? I thought it was one of his monologues he gives while you're fucking up the engine room
>>738165164If he were a team player that wouldnt have happened
>>738165448It's really insane how much they limited their universe while trying to expand it
>>738165838Replay the game. Like half of the motherfucker's dialogue is implying it. The title "Reclaimer" implies it (unless you work at 343). It was clearly always either meant to be at least a possible interpretation or an implication.
>>738166235>present forerunnersWho are we forerunning for? Uplifted cat girls manufactured for domestic ownership?
>>738165448I love how Halo 2 expanded the Covenant internal politics and religion, but it felt so fucking rushed and incomplete for one game. It was a good opportunity to explain why the Covenant doesn't use robots and artificial intelligence in their army because the Prophets know about Mendicant Bias and how artificial beings were the demise of the Forerunner Empire, they don't want to repeat it. Or how we get to see the stunning and beautiful capital of the Covenant, High Charity, but it's just destroyed in a few missions like if it has no importance. And a few more things I would have liked if they expanded Halo 2 into three or four more games.
The brief pre-Halo 2 era was wild. I remember forum posts where people tried to figure out the Covenant leadership since the prophets weren’t a thing yet. Some people thought the gold elites were essentially Covenant “Lords” which was funny.
>>738166682Didn't Fall of Reach come out at the same time? It specifically said "hey we're sending you all on a mission to kidnap a prophet" at the end, no?
>>738165448Respectfully, this is too much autism. The only true Halos are the Bungie ones, even if they played fast and loose with the canon there towards the end.
>>738165590Dude 343 Guilty Spark outright stated humans were forerunner right before his boss fight in Halo 3.https://youtu.be/HmKTXKyf-OY?t=112Even if they weren't totally sure themselves, the line is there.
>>738165020The entire team was dead by that point.
Fuck lore, lore killed Halo. Assigned reading for a video game? Fuck you I’m not doing my homework>Marines: These guys are badass except sometimes not. They are from Aliens and they kick ass and probably take unisex showers with nude Army tomboys>Cortana: Wowie zowie this girl is smoking hot. She’s naked all the time and everyone on the bridge gets a huge boner when she bends over. I love women so much bros>Covenant: Fuck these jerks. They have great AI but they talk like foreigners so I must kill them. Did you ever read the Culture? I hate communism but the ship names were so cash money. “Truth and Reconciliation” fuck yes take my money>Guilty Spark: Its The Culture time again, hes a sassy little drone like Cortana but not sexy (unless you are a freak). Awesome lore but fuck you lore sucks, unless this guy is saying it>Flood: Alien soup? No dumbass they are THE THING but everywhere!! The Thing if the Thing thinged everybody on Earth! Fuck! They can make a spaceship just like that glasses nerd from the movie. Im shitting bricks just thinking about it>Multiplayer: Fuck yeah, what could be better than pwning noobs and rubbing your big manly nuts in their face? I love video games so much bros
>>738165448>WHINE WHINE WHINELol. No wonder the Halo fanbase is so divided, this is all they can do.

>>738166318His team mates kept killing themselves
>>738167247Well saying it was the dusty remains of the forerunner’s predecessors, which ancient Humanity for whatever reason used to help shine the coats of their pet alien dogs is even worse.

>>738165934>Last time YOU asked me, if it were my choice, would I do it?What last time? This is clearly a specific person Spark is recalling a convo with and not some vague race or society. How can Spark be a reliable source if he's deluded enough to think Chief is a specific someone from millennia past?

>>738165448>>UH no he was crazy, he MEANT to say that forerunners were these ugly grey dudes and this one guy turned himself into a HECKIN VAMPIREThis is literally where Halo's soul died. Non-canon dogshit.
>>738165448This is pretty accurateMarty dropped on twitter how the story was meant to go originally, it's a straight up bible parable and the microsoft guys really didn't like that. Everything after Halo 1 was basically microsoft execs trying to chip away at the core christian themes
>>738167440the shit with the space dogs was stupid, true, but those predecessors were not. the best thing about the flood is the fact they're not a bioweapon that someone forgot to program a killswitch in and they're not some animalistic hive race that's only going off instincts to expand and get biomass. they're cool because they're fully malicious and they're going out of their way to make everyone suffer because punishment is their only goal
>>738167623>emile died because he decided to separate from the team and get killed in an elite 1v1He was staying behind to give the Autumn (and Six) the opening they needed to escape Reach. It was a sacrifice through and through, he just didn't get the chance to fully act on it.>carter killed himself for reasons I don't really remember at this timeSame as above. The scarab had Six and Emile pinned. He was fucked as it was and saw kamikazing the scarab as his best option to save them and the mission>jun fucked off with halsey or some shitPretty much, although they split sometime before Halsey made it to Castle Base for SOME reason that has yet to be explained
>>738166963The flood aren't The Thing, they are The Vang from the starhammer novels.Bioweapon that consumes people and retains their memories and everything. It's a straight rip from the novels besides minor adjustments. Jones even literally listed it as one of the books that inspired him.
>>738167623Jorge didn't die he just got teleported with half a covenant carrier and a fully working dropship to fuck knows where

>>738168202>MartySad how he's saddled himself to the Trump bandwagon. I still love his music and respect his stance on Halo, but getting kicked out of Bungie must have really mind broken him.
>>738168713I can tell he's not really fit for politicsHe's got a sort of lolcow personality, it just doesn't work and he's too old to read the room. Heart's in the right place but not enough grass touched.
>>738168676bold of you to assume the hangar doors would still be functional in a floating piece of debri 4000 light years from its power source
>>738166754Yes it did. But they don't get physical descriptions, there was nothing to indicate they weren't a higher tier of elite. Engineers make an appearance in the book however, and didn't in-game until ODST.
whatever happened to dustin echoes?
>>738165020not inconveniencing your team is a team play, loser.
>forerunners>humanAre bungieniggers retarded?
>>738165590343 Guilty Spark flat out says humans are Forerunners.>nooo he was rampant!!!Rampancy doesn't officially exist in the Halo games themselves, but if we take it to exist by implication thanks to Bungie's earlier Marathon games and thus use it as described in them, it is not "AI go crazy" it is an emotional process that AIs undergo as a stage in their existence. Not insanity. So there's no reason to suppose that he said that because he was crazy.
>>738168807Bold of you to assume a spartan 2 can't seal the doors on the human dropship literally right next to him.And vacuum isn't particularly dangerous in any case. Even normal people can handle it for minutes if they exhale first. The real danger is holding your breath during decompression rupturing your lungs from the pressure change, and then after that reverse gas exchange from your blood into the vacuum if you don't keep your yap sealed.Spartan 2 wouldn't have a problem in either case. Especially not while wearing a pressure suit already.
>>738169069ok he's trapped in a pelican cockpit which is 3ft wide and 9ft tall as an 1.5ft wide and 8ft tall spartan in deep deep space bumfuck nowherenow what

>>738168604His helmet is literally at his feet in the cutscene
>>738169020to be frank theres no evidence at all that guilty spark was every rampant anyway>literally programmed to preserve the rings and utilise them against the floodhe does not give a fuck if 3 organics and their slut AI want to preserve their own existence and kamikaze an under construction ring. guilty spark can wait 3 days, its chief johnson and arbi who are selfishly risking the future for their own sake. naturally he would take efforts to stop them destroying the installation, its literally in his programming
>>738169192people dont breathe through their feet hope that makes sense
>>738169262He put it back on before hitting the button
>>738169118Pablo from Infinite managed to last six months in a pelican and presumably could've kept going even longer had he not found Chief

>>738170370The guy that was supposed to give them covering fire for their escape got shanked by an eight foot tall dinosaur man

Halo 3's intro was incredibly weak by comparison. And everything beyond that is a fucking joke.
>>738170325>when my people condemned me, i knew i was right>when the enemy tortured me, i stayed strong>when the bloods killed my cousin, i got my revenge>when the supermutants raped my wife, i jerked off with the tears>when aliens stole my cow, i beat my wife>when etc etcwhat the fuck are you on about saying a society/group cant question an individual, thats literally what halo is, two clashing societies, three if you include forerunner, FOUR if you include gravemindmasterchief (and humanity as a whole) is the representation of modern day forerunner>when YOU (forerunners) last asked, blah blah blahanon is right you are most certainly brown and lack cognative ability
>>738170578All those examples, even though they ostensibly are about a group, describe actions committed by specific individuals in that group. Not every enemy tortured you, not every single crip member in the country killed your cousin, not every single alien in the universe stole your cow, etc. Even if Spark is speaking like this, there is still a specific individual or individuals in that group he's talking about having a convo with. This all being a metaphor on top of the unspecific wording makes zero sense.
>>738170545nta but i agree with you, 1 and 2 set the bar high. halo 1 basically sells itself as a franchise with the first level. halo 2 basically proves itself as a prope sequel with its opening level. halo 3 you just stumble around the woods and jungle semi aimlessly fucking around for a half hour without any sort of build up or excitement. i think part of the issue was making level 1 a fucking jungle level. it should have been something on a covenant ship or the forerunner ship he was on BEFORE he landed on earth. the end of level 1 could have been you escaping and having to jump off the ship at the right moment while fighting enemies. it would have felt right because up until that point level 1 is always a tense fight in close quarters on some sort of ship. i want to like halo 3 but i find it totally boring in comparison and the graphics engine they used is part of the problem where it looks like a psuedo pixar movie. halo reach over corrected and it looks like muddy desaturated lifeless bullshit. its ugly in a new way. halo 3 and reach have great armors though and theyre the only good things about those game other than the new weapons and vehicles designs they added to the halo universe.

>>738166963>Fuck lore, lore killed Halonew lore isn't that bad. It's just 343 can't tell a story to save their lives. That, and they are soulless, greedy and hacks. I feel like they get handed an easy alleyoop of a story and just miss. Like you hear the premise and you're like "cool. Sounds interesting!". 5 and 6 sounded sick, but they executed it so poorly. >Assigned reading for a video game?As someone who's read a good amount of Halo books, most of the books are self contained and don't really need to be read to understand the story. The only one really important to the mainline games is the newest one 'Edge of Dawn'. It's pretty good. I was gonna say "it should've been DLC for Infinite", but I really don't want to look at or play that buggy mess ever again.
>>738165448actually halo is just the plot of the old marathon games dumbed down for retards.
>>738171734thats just how reach looks, dawg
>>738173417What's the book about? All I know is that her name is revealed in it. Why is it important?
>>738174365Chief takes out a lot of Banished leaders, he saves Browning(then he dies later), it explains what the Harbinger did to him, Chief briefly meets up with another spartan(iv) and a bigger UNSC group on the ring and Jega is revealed to still be alive. Jega makes it away with an infected engineer That's just a brief summary of what I remember. Not super important now that I think about it, but more important than the other books as this book happens directly after Infinite and follows John.
>>738175756Sounds like a bunch of side quests, dlc fits. Anyway, heard the next game will take place after that book, so I thought there would be more to it.
>>738165020sigma mentality, you wouldn't understand

>>738168565are you telling me he's just MIA?
>>738176675>>738176821The only reason we could wipe them out in 3 was because Hivemind sent all remaining flood to the ark to help prevent it from firing, if it wasn't for that then blowing up the ark wouldn't have eradicated them.
>>738165020Is Noble Six the strongest human to ever live or do notable Spartan IIs still greatly outclass him? Like if he was a Spartan II wouldn't he be a demigod even among other IIs based off his feats as a III?

>>738177559Works on my machine. Seen other anons complaining about this though, something's off
>>738177092>>738177623It doesn't really make sense in the first place. You're telling me the literal galaxy-brained Gravemind didn't think to keep ONE infection form on ice in case this whole Ark thing went tits up?

>>738169742I like these implications.I want a real halo 4 where it turns out John and Jorge got yeeted to the same place.
>>738165590Blatanly wrong.
>>738165020Some guy did a video easay on the deaths of the team its suppose to represent what they all can do. Like how the sniper girl dies from a a headshot the leader goes down with the ship and shit
>>738169225People just call it rampant because AI standards and he's going rogue in his own ways to the average player''s perception. Reality is that Guilty Spark only broke the rules to resist more Ring destruction and followed his orders to the letter; as much of a shit as he could be, yeah, he was totally in his faculties the entire time.
That was awesome. I liked it a lot more than 3.
>>738177704It doesn't matter either way. The flood aren't unbeatable. The forerunners made the mistake of underestimating it, mischaracterizing the threat and letting it spiral out of control. The Covenant then repeated this exact mistake. Nobody assumes the flood is intelligent, and by the time it starts exhibiting intelligence it's too late to stop it.Wiping out the Gravemind, its army and its ships means any leftovers around the galaxy are effectively stranded on whatever planetoids they're on, without the hosts, equipment or intelligence to expand beyond. Any encounter can just be systematically glassed from orbit like they did to the outbreak on Earth because now every sentient in the galaxy knows what the flood is and what it's capable of
>>738165448yeah cool, but does the suit jack him off or what?
>>738176675The lore notes in Halo 3 describe it best. The forerunners ruled a whole galaxy of effectively demilitarized client races who were effectively defenseless. When the flood happened, they treated it like a pandemic and tried to quarantine it while saving lives, only for the flood to repeatedly find ways around their quarantine and into new worlds and then ravage those worlds because they were defenseless. Hesitation let it spread basically unchallenged because the forerunners didn't realize the flood was intelligently finding ways to spread and not just acting like an epidemic. Then they shifted strategies, drew a line across the Galaxy and basically abandoned every world on the wrong side of that line to the flood, intending to contain it with a space blockade. By now the flood had so many hosts and so many resources that it reverse engineered their technology and mass produced ships of its own. It was only when the flood showed up to the blockade with an Armada and fought with organized military tactics that the forerunners realized this was a war for survival and not just an epidemic, but by that point the flood had snowballed out of control and was actually winning battles. The remainder of the war was just the forerunners desperately buying time while they built their mass autism array, with the final race coming so close that the flood were literally overrunning the Rings when they fired.
>>738184983Doesn't make sense. You contradict yourself in explaining this and don't even realize it.
>>738184983>realize the flood doesn't have that many actual military ships and just recreational vehicles that are basically dingies >oh that's good>realize they have 700,000 dingies and they're sending them all to you at once>oh that's bad
The interesting to me about Halo is that while the game and the background lore constantly draws attentions to the Forerunners failings that allowed the Flood to spiral out of control and topple the galaxy, not a single character or bit of narration ever questions the Rings themselves. The idea of wiping out all sentient life to "protect them" from being food for a parasite is just completely unexamined and automatically assumed justified by necessity.I always thought that was odd. Even if it IS the correct choice, surely at least one person in the setting would disagree. Who's to say the Flood wouldn't have used their galactic intelligence to create a utopian civilization.
>>738186962like some kind of scenario where there are no unique cultures and where all life forms own nothing and are happy? interesting... well luckily this is just a science fiction game we're talking about here. halo was better when the flood were in it. miss fighting them. the games lose a certain appeal without a truly unique 3rd faction to fight. the covenant remnants or the banished dont really do it for me. the forerunner robots you fight in halo 4 are almost cool, but it being a 343 game it didnt land for me. i think bungie would have executed it better unfortunately.
>>738189760now that im thinking about it i think part of the reason it came off lame was half of the forerunner enemies you fight are gay robot dogs, and the forerunner drones look lame compared to the sentinels which is crazy to say but true. they didnt have good enough designs and it seemed low quality. bungie wouldnt have let it out like that.
>>738165590I honestly enjoyed the “Humanity: FUCK YEAH” part of Halo even if it made little to no sense.
>>738165020thats like all online players
>>738165590forerunners being human or not the problem is that when they got canon appearances they looked fucking retarded. i always imagined they would either have some kind of incomprehensible form, or they would look really dignified and impressive looking. its like when one of those youtube streamers has a really cool voice and when you see their face when they reveal it they look like the chud meme.

>>738165448>DUDE, DUDE, the Flood? Get this. They’re not some sort of bioweapon left behind by human forerunners>They’re from BEFORE the forerunners>They’re FORERUNNERS to the FORERUNNERS. Is your mind BLOWN?Where have I heard this plot point before?

>>738192234i give halo 1 and halo 2 each something like a 9/10 or 9.5/10 and give halo 3 something like a 7/10 or a 6.5, but im at least partially glad we got halo 3 because of some of the cool new weapons and vehicles it gave us plus the multiplayer armor. basically i like everything new from a visual design standpoint in halo 3, it made the universe better or cooler from that perspective. like the maulers or spikers etc or the spartan laser. but the levels and the story are boring to me and ive only played it like twice through versus the other games at least 10 times or more.
>>738167623To be fair Spartan IIIs were made to die.
>>738165020Actually he was in a cave.
>>738192971Wait wrong one.

>>738192971>>738193052I know these are jokes but I still hate them, they remind me of the TV show.
>>738193361The first one is a joke but the bottom one is real.
