>Change the game so much it’s literally a different game.

Go fuck yourselves Bethesda.
>>
it's a 1:1 remaster, the fucking bugs are the same
>>

I lost my shit when I encountered the exact same quest breaking bug where the orc traps you in a fortress from fucking 2006 when I played the remaster lol

No it isn't.

I never played the original but reading UESP about some quest soft lock bugs I've encountered they're definitely carried over from the original
>>
They did shift the perks from hitting 25, 50, 75 and 100 around or change them outright in some cases
>>
It's improved, giving you +5 to attributes at level up was the best thing it did.
>>
>>738165536
and its not and they arent. orc racial nerfed
>>
>>738166093
Also the virtue leveling system which was an okay change I guess. Maybe that's what OP means because he had efficient leveling wired into his brain and doesn't like the change.
>>
>>738166004
Dialogue is the same down to the failure to edit voice lines properly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBKdS33WMe4
It has a few different bugs, but the game is functionally the same barring some weird QoL choices.
>>
>>738166265
Combat, difficulty, and leveling are all different from vanilla.
>>
>>738165406
There would be no reason to play it over the better version if they hadn't changed anything. And Bethesda didn't develop it.
>>
shame they didn't change it into a good game
>>
>They went out of their way to halve all the enemy HP values
>This probably took a pretty long time as there's a shitload of various NPC types and monsters
>Instead of just fixing the fucking typo they introduced into the damage system back at Oblivion's launch which halved all weapon damages
It baffles me they still have no idea about their dumb little typo they made.

Is this game worth playing in 2026 if i never played the og and only played like 20 hours of skirym?

No, not really. Just play the original.

depends on what you want out of a game like this. if you are into the quests / faction stories then its decent.

I played through it again using my magic and swords like I did when I first played it, but I was curious, did they make marksman not suck ass in the remaster? Like can you get headshots and stuff? Or at least make the bows more effective? I remember they really badly sucked in the original game, and im interested in doing a marksman playthrough if its actually decent now.

Bethesdas last good game was morrowind, well, Starfield but /v/ is not ready for that conversation yet

Bethesda should've hired the external studio to do an actual remake in unreal, fix the bugs and then post-release look at the new unreal engine 5 releases and think about porting it to a new version for perf improvements.

They seem somehow half assing things.

Combat is significantly changed to be slower paced.
Nearly half of the character's voice lines were redone, some of which to the decisive detriment of what they once were. Attribute gains are untied from skill ups. Skills gain at a more normalized rates Major vs Minor.
There are countless other changes, not the least of which is sprinting, and angular momentum, with back pedaling being slower.
Many of these changes are fine, and I appreciate, but don't pretend the games are 1:1 barring visuals. They're not. The actual gameplay is dramatically different.

I am fine with most of this. There are still some significant faults - but personally I find it a much better base to work from compared to Vanilla. So all-in-all, it is personally a net gain. They just need to improve stability.

>>738166439
being fair - there is a HUGE amount of fuck with Oblivion. Attempting to give a shit about any of it is going to leave you in a very strange situation where something obvious falls between the cracks. I didn't even know Obliv damage formula was fuct. It was of course plainly obvious NPCs, especially late game, had way too much health - which only got worse with the late variant forever scaling with the player.
>>
>>738176028
NPC's have a perfect amount of health, it's just that all melee weapons in the game do about halved damage due to a typo introduced while translating Morrowind's damage formula into Oblivion.
It's why goblins can hit you like a wet noodle, then when they're disarmed their fucking hands do more damage.
Also why magic comically exceeds melee damage all the time, if you double melee damage everything basically falls into place and the game works a lot better.
Weapons that do 10 damage in the code, even at max strength and skill, only do 5, which is nonsense.

You still have archery being ass.
>>
>>738166580
Genuinely stick with the og. It's cheaper, you have better access to mods to fix some of the glitchier aspects of the game, and there's the janky charm
>>
>>738176780
Archery being ass is just how Elder Scrolls worked until Skyrim where it then got massively OP due to AI getting downgraded.
>>
>>738176908
It's strong in Morrowind because you can get a bound longbow very early, and use levitation both defensively and to hold melee enemies.
>>
>>738177541
You still need to pincushion them with a gorillion arrows in Morrowind unless you go for the most powerful bows/arrows in the game.
>>
>>738165406
The scaling in Oblivion is fucking dogshit and I'm tired of pretending it's a good game.

Also the remaster is jeeted up and runs like crap.
>>
>>738176205
The error aside, enemies are too squishy in Remaster.
It mostly worked with the granular difficulty slider - but that is still shit. Minus 20-30% health (tops) would have felt fine, even for magick and archery. Magicka now no longer regenerates while casting (like Skyrim), and back pedaling is slower affecting archer and casters alike.

50% is too much. Ranged got affected, and melee is nearly 50% slower also.

There are a lot of moving parts, but 50% health (likely to offset the slower melee, back pedaling, and magicka regen) is too much. All that needed to happen is a reduction at the top end, and axing highest tier endless level scaling. If melee still needed a buff (it sort of does), it only needs bonuses from buffing fatigue (having more fatigue than your base multiplied damage, similar to how being below max nerfed). Now it is only a negative, but only when attacking with negative fatigue.

Obliv NPCs and char stats need a complete overhaul. Luck and Personality for example don't even functionally do anything.
>>
>>738178408
Enemies have literally halved HP on default settings in the remaster. It's retarded.
Some enemies like the levelled ones were way too durable in the original but most of the non-levelled ones were fine.
Granted it was bullshit to reach level 10 and all the wolves are replaced with minotaurs lmao.
>>
They should have remade Morrowind
>>
>Game where melee weapons are absolute shit with horrible scaling
>Nerf them further by making their attack speed way slower
>Game where magic is insanely strong but kinda held beck by slow leveling speed
>Make it scale exponentially faster by tying exp rate with spell costs
>>
Instead of perserving the unique designs they just make everything look generic for no reason.
>>
>>738178937
The remake devs managed to take the same problem with level scaling and spongey enemies and made it worse if you put the difficulty to Expert or Master, where enemies now have MORE health than the original ever gave them. It's nothing but extremes.
>>
It was shit when it came out though? It still being shit is pretty faithful.

>Fatigue normalized, no longer important to manage.
>Fortify Fatigue no longer increases weapon damage.
>Weapon attack speed turned into combo swings that are overall 50% slower.
>Nerfed two-handed range, coupled with abysmal two hit combo attack speed.
>Enemies no longer get pushed back after being hit.
>Enemy melee range increased.
This is how they dumpstered melee and two-handed especially, and the scaling was already terrible.

>Added sprint.
>Can't jump with 0 Fatigue.
>Change Lord sign to add magic resist and armor
>Let spellmaking add multiple instances of attribute and skill related spell effect
>Tied damage blocked to Block skill as a %; 100 Block = immune
>Leveling no longer tied to 10 major skill-ups.
>Attributes get more points leveling the associated skills 1 - 10 times.
>Get 12 virtues to spend instead.
>Major and minor contribute the same amount to level up.
>Changed how skills level; no longer per item sold, but gold gained from selling.
>Magic schools level with magicka spent, not per cast; can level exponentially faster after reaching 50+
>Go from level 1 to 20 in a few hours.
>Removed difficulty slider, adding categories with big jumps instead.
>Later added a difficulty between Nomal and Expert, and split damage dealt/damage taken
>Added HP regen out of combat
>Lowered enemy HP
>Enemy still scales as you level
No pacing to the level progression, mostly because it's no longer a game where you think about your level ups. Difficulty is treated like it is in other games, when 99% of players should stay at mid difficulty - added a few clicks up or down.

>New voice actors who don't blend in at all.
>UI for items somehow worse than vanilla, sorting everything alphabetically.
>Hide item enchantments behind another tab
>Still asks "Are you sure?" every time you sell, buy, make a potion, poison a weapon.
>Terribly optimized performance.
>Art direction gutted with the graphical update.
This is on the top of my head. Still mostly the same.
