>spend 4-8 hours making a custom mission that does not suck

The devs really need to improve the workshop browser and do some community events to give some incentive, the editor is hard enough to use as it is

tell me the name of your custom mission, I've been fiending for more. I play mostly single player because I'm a lonely piece of shit and I love playing custom missions.

utterly based, thank you for this. I absolutely love the chicane, it's just a shame it's been overshadowed by the brawler a ton ever since it was added.

This game looks like everything I want from arma, war thunder, squad (armour). Why SHOULDN'T I buy it?
>>
>>738170453
genuinely there's no reason no to. with the KAR and BOTE mod you can even control ground and naval units. fully playable in singleplayer and co-op vs AI. the AI isn't bad either. has a better damage model than warthunder in my opinion as well. granted, it doesn't have the insane amount of vehicles that warthunder does, but it's still very good.

modding is unfortunately still very new in the community and a lot of modders are still figuring out where to host stuff unfortunately. Primeva 2082, the biggest mod, being hosted exclusively on a discord server, and I won't get it on that reason alone. every other mod is on github and the game is very easily modded, which is a plus. the custom missions can get really god damn good too, some of them can take up to 5 hours or more and are very replayable. I've even seen someone remake operation absolute resolve as a custom mission. the only thing the game needs now is the ability to make and mod in custom terrain maps.

Anti-ship cruise missiles are so useless you can fire like twenty of them and ALL of them will get intercepted by the uber competent air defense anyway, so I guess that's pretty dumb.

Trooncord is the main community center and where all the mod downloads are, which is pretty gay.

Getting AI to do what you want in the editor is physically painful and there is no real way to coordinate with AI planes in singleplayer.

The next map is like half a year away, and Heartland is pretty cramped (80x80km is tiny in the context of modern warfare) and Ignus is kinda boring.

Aside from resupplying ships or cramming airfields full of AA vehicles, doing logistics in the Ibis or Tarantula is practically pointless.

That's all I got for legitimate critiques I can think of.

fly below 10m radar alt and fire agm-68's at about 6km away, easy sink.

>Trooncord is the main community center and where all the mod downloads are, which is pretty gay.

this is true, thankfully it's only the one really big mod Primeva 2082, but the rest you can find on github.

>Getting AI to do what you want in the editor is physically painful and there is no real way to coordinate with AI planes in singleplayer.

also true. you can command units yourself but I also haven't touched mission editor.

>The next map is like half a year away, and Heartland is pretty cramped (80x80km is tiny in the context of modern warfare) and Ignus is kinda boring.

honestly heartland is best when used in custom missions, sometimes I don't even recognize parts of the map. but yeah I'm really excited for the new map. ignus is way too open but I've seen custom missions make really good use of it.

>Aside from resupplying ships or cramming airfields full of AA vehicles, doing logistics in the Ibis or Tarantula is practically pointless.

really has to be my biggest gripe as well. I wish that nuclear weapons weren't so easily attainable because I can't set up radar stations or AA sites or resupply areas midway through the map without it getting nuked by a darkreach or something. I would recommend the KAR mod for the sole purpose that you can place helicopter pads and resupply stations down with the FOBs. it makes logistics way more important and getting a good forward helipad down can absolutely shift the scales a lot. you don't even need it for the ground vehicles, but the FOBs are amazing. the Chimera heavy lift plane is great too because you can place R9 sites down for air defense in the recent update for it. both of those mods are available on github and not on trooncord.

Game needs a little bit more work.

what missions are you playing where that happens? I know that 23mm and manpad emplacements have a very short detection range though, which is their advantage.

Nuclear Option really goes to show how cool modern warfare would be if modern countries weren't all deindustrialized paper tigers and highly effective air defense / EW / lasers ended the faggy droneslop meta.

>>738171903
what do you need keybinds for? I can suggest my layout if it will help at all.

Multiplayer. And it's not a couple of manpads, it's an entire navy armada in the middle of the ocean or and entire battalion in the middle of a desert. I'm talking radar guided SAMs.

>>738172375
play custom missions. escalation can be fun with a group of people but if that's what's upsetting you, there are some really good custom missions that don't have that problem.
>>
>>738168159
How does this compare to VTOL VR (besides the obvious of not being VR controls)
>>
>>738173162
it's not entirely similar, but it's close. you can also inject VR into nuclear option but it requires some extra scripts and adjustments to make it work at the moment. no VR controls obviously but you get the picture.

>Why SHOULDN'T I buy it?
You shouldn't buy it if you have a mortal allergy to fun,
Wanting to throw your money only at big ass AAA publishers who spend 50% of your money on advertising instead of developing the game would be another reason.

You especially shouldn't buy it if you want aircraft that are just copy of the same flight model, because I'm afraid this game has an extreme variety of aircraft, helicopter, VTOL aircraft, with almost custom gameplay for each, distinguishing between normal chopper, chopper with rear propulsive fans, and tilt wing carrier.
All of them with high level of physic simulation, plus damage system
Even the fully playable alien saucer made as an april's fool.

DO NOT BUY IT if you dislike the idea of playing on large battlefield, fighting everything from infantry position, to heli-carrier with laser weapon.
It may be painful to you to see hundreds of NPC units with surprisingly good AI for flyiers.
You could however buy it if you want to laugh at ground unit always moving & fighting in convoy.

And do listen to this anon >>738170969 telling you the Tarantula being completely useless as a C-130 like airborne cannon (plus 20x Anti-Ground Missiles), air-dropping anti-air unit or vehicle to capture base.
Not even talk about the uselessness of the Ibis carrying 16x AGM and infantry aboard to capture base.

You may also have your brain flowing out if you cannot bear the idea of a healthy modding community creating themed SP and MP map for PvE coop, some are even creating aircraft.

There.
I may have saved you from buying an early-access game that feel more finished than full release.

>Not even talk about the uselessness of the Ibis carrying 16x AGM and infantry aboard to capture base.

those new sponson anti tank missiles that the ibis can carry 8 of has really made the IBIS a formidable missilebus when combined with the 12x agm-48's. utter beast of a helicopter and so fast too.
