Is there a game genre that you absolutely can't play?

no
jack of all games, master of none
>>
4 niggas in a row shit
Cant stand turn based combat.
i honestly think you are a brainlet if you think "gameplay" is just going into a menu and watching an animation play out.
Funny because the GotY for a last few years have included bladurs gate and clair obscur, both TBC shit
>>
I hate pvp survival shit. Stuff like DayZ or whatever the hell people play nowdays. To me it think of it as "griefbait". Games made for losers to kill other players and say shit over the mic because its so hecking funny for some reason.

sports games, racing games, fighting games. they are very samey and boring
horror games, they are dimly lit walking simulators with jumpscares, with a high rate of slopification
>>
>>738177359
Turn based combat can be good. See games like Worms Armageddon and Slay the Spire 2
>>
>>738177359
did you try expedition 33? i personally think its the best turn based combat there is, each character has their own combat mechanic, you have QTEs and the parry and dodge system and more, so it isnt just watching an animation
not to mention is a very easy entry for outsiders because every mechanic is heavily explained
>>
Platformers. Boring games for children.
>>
>>738177204
I don't understnad this I've taken a bite out of a lemon and it's sweet/sour and not that bad
>>
>>738177204
fighting. To me, its just a minigame spinoff of platform beat em ups

puzzle games. idk why, i guess i don't see puzzles as a form of entertainment. never really liked the puzzle segments non-puzzle games occasionally have either.

Racing sims.

I don't even like driving real cars. Why would I want to do it with a playstation controller? Go Karts and futuristic racing is fine though.

I swear up and down there's got to be a JRPG out there with actually sophisticated tactical gameplay and isn't just use the good buffs/debuffs -> figure out which attack does the most damage and spam that -> heal as necessary, but I'm not actually aware of one. I just feel like it's got to be one of the most underdeveloped genres relative to its potential in existence but I haven't seen anyone prove me right yet. Granted I'm not exhaustively invested in the genre.
>>738177204
Anyways to answer the question, I don't have the autism that seems to be required for rhythm games or "serious" fighting games.

Worms has terrain deformation and physics interactions. Most four niggas in row games only need menus to function the visuals are purely decorative. same goes for deck builders
Don't lump them together like that
>>
>>738179527
I don't know, but surely there are other things you can do. Pokemon has a unique system based on swapping, prediction, and setup risk-reward, but none of that actually matters in non-pvp because it's made to be overly easy. Octopath Traveler is centralized around breaking then bursting, but that leads to its own kind of mindlessness. There's got to be something that properly encourages thoughtful tactics without being overly repetitive.
>>
>>738177204
MMOs. Survival crafting slop. Racing games. There's a lot of them.
>>
>>738177204
No, although I don’t really like survival pvp games or racing. I won’t play MOBAs or competitive fps games either because I’m shit at them. Crafting and work simulators are boring to me. My favorite games are RPGs like the elder scrolls series and WoW when I still played.
>>
>>738177359
Same. I can't

The Tactics Ogre games, Vandal Hearts and Final Fantasy Tactics. There's actually a reason why you want the game to be turn-based since you aren't just going through menus but determining if moving to a position will let you hit enemies, make you vulnerable to enemy fire/attacks, if there's treasure where you are moving and how you want to position your squad along with the typical turn-based JRPG formula. The slow turn-based nature of it enhances the experience and makes it more involved than what essentially is an artifact of when consoles and computers were limited in what they could do.

You can also say the same of Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve which are halfway between tactical JRPGs and action JRPGs and many other games on the action side of things too.
>>
>>738179269
competitive pokemon has great tactical gameplay. granted the actual games are exactly as you describe. but hopping on for a few matches on showdown is tons of fun and very skill based (in spite of the rng)
>>
>>738177204
Early Access Crafting Survival games make me catatonic.
>>
>>738178826
because mobas are actually fun. i dont play them anymore because they require a significant time investment and you have to sit at a desk to play them while i would rather just sit on my couch, but i look back on my time with mobas fondly, and when i occasionally do have a game with some friends i enjoy it a lot. its just a meme at this point to hate on them, and if you're such a faggot that you cry because your teammates were mean to you or because they made you lose a match you need to get a life. they're fun competitive games with deep gameplay.

I also forgot Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter. Despite what you may think of the game itself, you can't label it as a braindead JRPG. It's in the same vein as a tactical JRPG, but with a lot more resource and time management added.

perfect blocks nullifying all damage ruins turn based combat. Paper Mario did it best by only lowering the damage you took.

Litterally unplayable. It might be in a playable state now but we all know thats a temporary state of affairs. Give it a year and they'll have thrown so much shit p2w on top of the game the idea of 'balance' doesn't even make it to the design doc anymore.

Any FPS, specially the multi-player focused ones only one I ever had fun after trying was TF2 and mostly because of non serious servers where you could just bullshit around

JRPGs. Most of them are way too long and have dumb stories/characters and boring gameplay. I don't have the patience for them or much tolerance for "anime bullshit."

TF2 isn't the only one but it's probably the best for that. Gmod comes closest, but I've not played it in a while so I'm not sure if it's degenerated.

E33 doesn't have much strategy needed, and you can one shot the game once you get your damage cap removed because the devs thought it'd be hecking sweet if each damage multiplier stacked multiplicatively

Turn based single player games, I almost enjoyed bg3 but I quit halfway through cause it got boring
>>
>>738177204
Jrpgs - had enough of them 30 years ago.

Shit like cod/mw/team fortress/fortnight/battle royale shit.

Platformers- I’m so incredibly done with these.

Pixel shit- I started gaming in the mid 70s. Time to grow tf up. I want better graphics, not same as 50 years ago.

Board games on pc or consoles

Mystery shit.

Pay to play phone shit or pc shit.

Diablo 4- they stopped being fun with 3, and moved into some late millennial/zoomie cash grab mindset I cannot fucking stand.

Turn based strategy- had decades of that before the year 2000. I’m so over it.

Anyway. There are exceptions to the above. Like, I’ll play Moon every once in awhile. Or I’ll open MW2 or whatever and do the solo campaign for the story.

I can't play horror games like amnesia because they're too scary.
>>
>>738177359
mewgenics, nigger
>>
>>738177359
Same. The irony is that all they have is visuals and even most of them don't try at that. Literally static poses, boring camera work, and shitty UI. You have a game like Persona 5 that tries just the tiniest bit to add some flair and people are cumming all over it.
>>
>>738177204
I refuse to even try bullet hells, the real ones at least
>>
>>738177204
JRPGs
"RPGs" that don't have custom characters. I'm not going to play a game that supposed to be about "role playing" if the the only role you can play is "Henry the Czech homosexual".
Puzzle games (nothing wrong with them, I'm just dumb as shit and can't find enjoyment in them)
Any game with a deckbuilding/card mechanic.
>>
>>738179009
Lemons these days are less sour than they used to be. In fact all citrus fruits are kinda fucked these days, it's major problem.
>>
>>738177204
Third person action games. I've never played a souls game for example, every time I try the controls are just painful enough that I quit within an hour.
>movement is jank and lags when you move the mouse
>WASD doesn't respond properly
>UI is less intuitive than stock skyrim's
>try playing on controller instead, now you have to sloooowly move the camera around with a joystick

The longest I've managed to stick with one was sekiro on a controller, just letting the target lock-on do all the camera controlling. In the end I got filtered after the lock-on would fuck up or unlock one too many times while trying to fight anearly game miniboss and getting raped simply because the game decided that apparently I wanted to be standing behind the guy and looking away from him, parrying thin air like a moron, while he turns around and stabs me in the spine.
Then I got nine sols and beat the true ending, because I didn't have to fight the fuck ass controls and have the camera sabotage me every microsecond, and instead could focus on actually parrying enemies and hitting them back.

I wish I could actually play and enjoy Sekiro and Elden Ring and shit but I simply fucking cannot.
