It's also a visually ugly game. And I don't see how it makes up for any of it mechanically. And where it might be more free-form than Harvest Moon, it also appears to be less milestone driven which I wouldn't see as a point in its favour. What is the appeal of Stardew? It has always just seemed like a game that only ever got huge because it was natively on PC and retards thought emulation was too scary or complicated. And they didn't have the games on real hardware.
