A lot of the problems people have with understanding Deltarune comes from the fact that it expects you to sometimes read between the lines and consider the second-order implications of things that you're told rather than accepting everything at face value, but many people can't read at an adult level anymore and don't understand what the game is even asking of them

As a rock-solid Dess Knight believer, I do have one hang-up with itI strongly feel that it's important that The Knight IS Dess, that Dess is physically present as The Knight, that there's continuity between Dess as she used to be and this thing that she's become.But there's this dialogue, which has been popularly interpreted as alluding to Dess and/or The Knight's origin. "From the bitter water, something grew" make it sound like "something" came FROM Dess but is separate from her. This most directly supports the idea that The Knight is some kind of agent of Dess's will, but is not literally and directly her.It's not impossible to reconcile this with my preferred interpretation (for example, the black glass grows on/around Dess and cocoons her in the darkness until she's transformed) but it is one case of the text leaning away from my reading of it.
