Did we only like it because we were dumb kids?
we like it because it's good and fun
>>738181819Only retards play Fallout and TES
Open world was novel and it did it better than the competittion.
>>738181897Nothing wrong with Fallout 1 & 2.
>>738181819there was no better open world rpg
>>738181819Oblivion was the best open world RPG before Skyrim
No. It's the greatest RPG of all time.
>>738181819I was in my school's gifted group and I thought this game was FUCKING KINO
>>738181819Yes.Thread over.
>>738181819The game gets at most a month and then you get bored with it.
>>738181819we were blinded by how pretty it was to notice the gameplay was still shitty
>>738181819Its because it was a huge world, free form, and not as jank and strange as and old looking as Morrowind
>>738181819You only like it because a new one came out. When it was new everyone hated it.
>>738181819I hated it even as a kideven the crap that was Gothic 3 was better than oblivion
>>738181819Even as a kid I didn't like it as much as Morrowind.
>>738181819140iq kidIts the best TES for reasons that are too artistic for most people to understand
I do remember it being heavily shat upon, for potato faces, the bloom, for the whole radiant AI fiasco, the quest arrows for retards, the absolutely atrocious level scaling an probably more things I already forgot you're making it sound like everyone just jumped on oblivions cock the day it came out
>>738184041That never happened tho
>>738181819Does any other game have "Pros" that encourage you to build retarded for stats that barely matter?
>>738186796Potato faces and bloom were complained about very early on in reviews.I remember being infuriated with the level scaling after the first week or something, and years later when 4chan and reddit were bigger I was confused that more people didn't complain about it.
>>738186796that guy is a retard but there were a lot of major flaws that were pointed out at the time. copy paste dungeons and the levelling system for example
>>738187120But the leveling system is the same as morrowinds, minus infinite training.
>>738186796neverhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-zk0eodQHI
>>738181819Its not an awful game or anything. Just a bit janky and lacking in features.
>>738187120The problem with the leveling isn't the idea of level scaling per say, even a fully optimized build eats shit the moment headless zombies and skeleton champions spawn in, the creature table progression is fucked with enemies that become basically 6x stronger overnight; however if the player holds on and keeps upgrading (And liberally uses enchants) the progression isn't THAT bad outside of that retarded difficulty spike
>>738188020Don't forget becoming rich because bandits wear glass and ebony armour.
>>738188020The problem is that you eventually hit a cap with 100 skill and corresponding attribute. But enemies keep growing stronger if you keep leveling up. And fortifying skill/attribute past 100 doesn't do anything for your damage so without magic you eventually get left behind. You can do the fatigue cheese I guess if you really wanna go all melee, but you'll need magic/enchants to set it up.
>>738189652>you eventually hit a capTime to start another character then
>>738190990I will NEVER move on from my edgy Argonian!
>>738181819Meh, it was a modern of its time 3d "rpg" game you can play in 1st and 3rd person with a character creator and a bunch of different races, there's an entire open world that gives off the illusion that it's more alive than something like ocarina of time or windwaker. For its time it was pretty unique.
Was having every line voiced a mistake or a 200IQ move by Todd?
