Kino games that will never ever get a faithful remakeI loved the heavy weight of all the weapons and the recoil from themEven the bullet hits had weight when hitting the enemy or other objects
>killzone>not letting you play as the helghast>kinolol no
>>738185112>what is multiplayer
>>738184548>team kill npc's for more ammo>npc's get madKek, too bad.
Are we ready to have the conversation that the entire Killzone series is really not very good Like the graphics are some of the best for the time, but the gameplay is incredibly run of the mill, if not downright boring
Multi in this was wicked fun, classes were straightforwardly functional and distinct. For an FPS it was very slow and clunky which imo made it more playable as it wasn't all twitch reflexes. Story was total slop, music was mid but the environments & lighting was cool. Would be nice to do a few rounds of capture the flag again
>>738186001The series is bad but the gameplay is down to your taste I think. I felt a lot of the guns were enjoyable altho the AI could have been better for sure
>>738186001Killzone 2 did a lot for the franchise, and for Playstation in general. People forget that these games were console exclusive, and for a long time "FPS" on console meant:>Halo>Call of DutyThen along comes Killzone 2; it looks incredibly good, and it plays differently to other FPS games. You move slower, the guns are weightier, the setting deliberately darker and bleaker. People who jumped in were often playing the first FPS single player campaign that felt actually inspired, as opposed to trying to be COD or Halo. Then Killzone 3 came out, and people liked it-but the fatigue was setting in. Shadowfall was plagued by the fact that the PS4 was utterly devoid of heavy hitting exclusives for a long time, despite it bringing us the closest we'd ever come to Helghast sympathy as part of the plot.I think the conversation about Killzone not being very good is one that's more about the fact it was never able to reach its potential. I dunno if anyone ITT played Shadowfall, but I remember playing it at launch and it was pretty good-worst complaint I'd have is that 2 or 3 of the levels could be a slog on a 2nd time round. But in the end the devs decided to ditch it to focus on Horizon instead. It's a shame.
Half convinced the series got canned because too many people liked the Helghast.
>>738184548>20 years ago>Game is designed around violence>You cannot complete the game without engaging in violence>Commit violence >It's actually violent with blades chopping limbs off and buckshot turning flesh into shredded meat>Now>Game is designed around violence>It's just an excuse to put gameplay in between selling skins and shitcoinsModern M rated games are for homosexual children and I really fucking hate it a lot more than any other problem in the industry. The medium has gone backwards for 2 generations straight now.
>setting where humanity has lost>main protagonist of the series killed off, new guy is actually liked>bleak as fuck plot>the power of friendship failed, power of incredible violence ultimately saves humanity>beating hordes of feral aliens to death in abandoned cities with a sledgehammer>fighting through a post-apocalyptic bandit prison>body horror every single level>kino protagonist and hero's journeythey would never let us have another game like this
>>738186578That part where you go outside and see all the ships in the sky.... I'll never forget it
>>738186562genuinely all they had to do for a reboot was make another>you're a level 1 gangster>become a level 500 bossExpanding your cool gang and being able to customise how they look was always cool as fuck. I loved being able to choose between cool suit wearing mobsters or vest wearing cholofags
>>738186001It's the Horizon Zero Dawn of the PS2/PS3 era.NOBODY gave a fuck about it but it kept getting millions of dollars thrown at it based on profit alone.
>>738186578my neighbour
>>738186678None of that mattered because every character was an obnoxious retard and the gameplay was shit.
>>738186810I wanted a reboot to take inspiration from SR1 and SR2, not what came after.
We never can't have action game with jumping and wall running with fast paced combat because everything has to be slow soulslop
Killzone always sucked.
>Design a controller with triggers>Mandate that all your exclusives default to shoulder buttons for aiming and shooting >Some don't even let you change itPS3 shooters are all fucking dogshit. Unplayable garbage.
>>738186858It took inspiration from being a college girl in her 20s with a writing degree.
>>738185295>multiplayerOpinion discarded.
>>738186001Soilent infused post
>>738186578Sony alongside every other publisher just seems to have given up on singleplayer shooters since Halo kept sabotaging itself.
>>738186001>incredibly run of the mill,I haven't really played anything that feels like 2 or 3
>>738187362>he didn't play split screen with his homies.
>>738184548>>Kino games that will never ever get a faithful remake>complaining about killzonelollmaoYou are like baby.Try pitching a remake of C&C Generals, count the amount of femtoseconds before security threw you out of the building.
>>738184548I agree the weight to this game is something that no developer would ever want to replicate because its just never going to have a mass appeal unfortunately. I do think they could still further improve the responsiveness of the controls and movement while still retaining that feel since the game obviously would play better at 60fps or greater but its just not going to matter anyways since as you said, we won't get a faithful remake. If I could develop an FPS as the director I'd have something along the lines of KZ2 but with some alien faction to fight instead. Also would have vehicles and a story that doesn't go off the rails into absolute shit. Also no shitty squadmates like Rico ffs kek.
>>7381860012 and 3 were great and I'm tired of zoomtrannys gaslighting me.
>>738187736HLL and Squad have movement where your character feels weighty as fuck and those games are very popular. Killzone as a tactical sim wouldn't work obviously but they could do a sort of middle ground between Battlefield and Squad with more casual gunplay designed for consoles, I think it could draw in both playstation fans and fps dudebros.
>>738184548Online in this game was the most fun I'd ever had.
>>738188125I have thought for awhile how a Battlefield like Killzone could work. It would be a shameless knockoff but I'd be down for Sony ripping it off if it meant we got a good game out of it. Of course retaining some of that weighted combat feel as the OP said. Really the biggest issue here though is the corporate culture currently at Sony that would prevent such a series from ever really being able to exist in a good form and modern Guerilla is probably terrible at this point so they wouldn't even be a good fit either.
