Over time I've become increasingly convinced that Miyazaki's games were only good due to a combination of luck and having the right people in the right places. As he's climbed the corporate ladder and has fewer people to tell him no From's games have gotten less interesting to me. It doesn't help that Scamco seems to be their preferred publisher.
i dont find the souls games that interesting and prefer kingsfield. however i think if they made some kind of game utilizing the covenant system, and everyone is in a faction, it could be an interesting premise online where the factions battle for territory or something until the season resets. they could work it in with their classic darksouls bullshit about cycles their world is trapped in. some of you have probably played older multiplayer games that operate this way where you pick an army you fight for and you do missions to gain points for your faction and there is both PVE and PVP.

>>738186960The souls formula is best when it is tight world design. Open world is too obtuse and leads to too many dead ends. Exploring the lands between in Elden ring feels so hollow and drab. I need TIGHT design. Dark Souls 1 is the goat for this.
