Even after the trimming it may be long in the tooth, but it's pretty much essential to establishing the legwork of the rest of the game. My problem is that old content is so irrelevant short of completionists and very specific hard-to-get items, these big fields, multi-connected areas and expansive regions largely amount to quest fodder to waste your time in rather than be anything worthwhile now. This game's pacing is awful. Maybe it's better once you get out of ARR, but I played the trial a few years ago for about 50 hours and 90% of the gameplay was "go to this far zone, talk to a guy, go to the Waking Sands, go to another far zone, talk to another guy, go back to the Waking Sands" repeated infinitely. I don't think I had a mount, or if I did it was slow as fuck. I remember the game has a taxi, but it didn't feel that much faster and I had to mute the music.
