SupCom is the most strategic RTS with how micro, macro, economy, and scale all factor into every moment. Play FAF.

give me some tips, or just talk about some fun shit you've done in game.
I've only played the first game, and I was getting my booty slapped.
I do have FA too though.
>>
>>738213410
Does it seem good? Here's to posting any information available on it. I would hope it has zoom out, tactical icons, and the same icons that SupCom uses (to be wishful and informative; maybe the devs browse /v/).
>>
>>738210319
Play the real version instead of some gay cheat mod. Given the multiple daily threads I'm assuming there's a new vulnerability
>>
>>738214596
How is FAF "cheating"? People are just playing the version with a lobby browser and QOL updates.
>>
>>738210319
It depends on how you few things.
RTS like Starcraft/Warcraft where the resoures are finite are more in depth for a lot of things, especially with how micro intensive it is

On the otherhand, FAF is the only one I've played that didn't evolve into 'muh online faggotry' so it's the superior choice

Warlords Battlecry 3 is the most superior choice, tho. Yes, even more superior than the multiplayer focused The Protectors Mod
>>
>Seton's Clutch

objectively the best RTS game ever made

Actuallly, no. Sins of a Solar Empire was fucking amazing, I will not shit on that game. But SupCom FA is still better by a small margin.
>>
>>738216728
Also, honorable mention to Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2. Those were both great RTS games as well.

Why do you keep shilling this boring garbage? This game had like 20 years to become popular and it never happened
>>
>>738218009
Some 99.9% of games never become popular, but surely there are some worthy of popularity, if not top sales.

What exactly do you not like about it? Micro, macro, economy, and scale are central to RTS.

RTS shouldn't be about various shapes shooting lasers at each other. You should be able to see cool models fighting from max zoom. Also having only mechs makes a game generic and boring.

Wasn't DoW2 a squad hero game even worse than warcraft? Like you didn't have unit production, apart from reinforcing squads, or even a base. Every map was a fucking puzzle to solve with your extremely restricted units against overwhelming forces.

I like BAR
That's all I have to say
>>
>>738220321
I disagree that the types and designs of units in SupCom detract from the enjoyability. People respect futurism more than humanoid compositions. People aren't going to be fighting when one person can make and control swaths of units to battle over large pieces of land. Also, from where or what would you derive power such as various techs, including experimental units like the Monkeylord? SupCom realism and power fantasy, not to mention faction identity, are top notch.

Also, having all of land, sea, and air is really important. Various terrain differences and travel speeds are significant to variety:depth of strategy.
>>
>>738218009
SupCom was plenty popular in the late 2000s. If you're asking why it didn't stay that way, GPG was kill by Squeenix being retarded and demanding a simpler game to compete with Starcraft 2 and SupCom ran like total shit on the hardware of the time while also being shackled to that hardware because it doesn't use multiple cores.

I heard that Supreme Commander FAF has a notable Russian cult following.
Is it true?
>>
>>738210319
It also has the best scaling visually. The maps feel BIG, the units feel GIGANTIC compared to the landscape and trees, and there is a real sense of gravitas.

I personally play BAR but SupCom and FA game feel is still unmatched.

Some maps *are* big. I'm not sure I could deal with Zero-K or BAR map sizes, especially with the number of players BAR sometimes has. Surely 6v6 or so is plenty. I already have enough problem carrying that. I nuked the eco player on Dual Gap once and still lost.

Fuck, I love this map.

>t3 bombers
For the record, I'm talking about team games, but I imagine it applies to 1v1. You can and should have shields up by the time strats are at your base. A lot of players don't, especially strat rushers, but that leaves them open to T2 bombers and drops.

>t3 artillery
You need like 3 to get through a good shield grid, and at that point, you might as well build a Mavor, Scathis, Salvation, or Yolona Oss.

>nuke
SMDs are cheap, anon. I build them around FOBs.
>>
>>738210319
The hotkey system for FAF still sucks and presents you with schizo preset combinations of actions you can bind to a single key. Why not let people assign whatever they want to a single key instead? It's a mystery.
>>738222039
We need all of them
>>738230016
No, you should have an air player who absolutely punishes the fuck out of his opponent for spamming strats instead of more asf. That is unless he sucks and already lost an air engagement
>>
>>738230509
>Why not let people assign whatever they want to a single key instead?
Maybe modding has limitations.

>No, you should have an air player who absolutely punishes the fuck out of his opponent for spamming strats instead of more asf
Strat rushes don't normally have shields or AA. A good air player won't have ASFs for a while after competitive strat times (9.5 minutes).

>>
>>738231176
Also, you're not going to have air coverage for all your teammates, so it's likely a strat could KO a power plant or two.

I actually like how powerful strats are.

Teammates who don't build shields are two steps from annoying though. Moreso people who think a mex or two is some huge loss. Most people don't even bomb the wreckage.

Fuck, bombing the wreckage is fun.

>>738231176
It's a very intriguing fucking limitation then if they can hardcode combos but not let people do it at runtime

On Seton's, best time for a t3 asf is at the latter half of minute 9. Fighters are cheaper than strats. By the time you get your own fighters, the opponent will have more and will shoot down your strat. Can't comment on other maps but generally if both people rush t3 competently, there's no way you would be able to fly your strat for long

Cybran is sooo good. I want to have an engy to make destroyers and Hives, but I can't give up Sera shields, tele SACUs, and T3 subs. I think I'd rather have a Scathis than a Yolo, though. I had an enemy team spam SMDs and counter my assisted Yolo.

How the fuck do people give the finger with their thumb sticking out like that? To get my thumb in that position at all I have to mash it against my index finger, which fucks with the rest of the muscles and keeps my middle finger from being as straight as it can.
If I give someone the middle finger my thumb is curled back over my other fingers. Basically the same shape as a fist, just the middle finger is extended.
>>
I think I see now why most people who play DoW say to just stop at Dark Crusade. Soulstorms campaign feels like a downgrade despite a few changes that would've been better, the problem is there's just as many poor changes that make things really, really, slow. No base permanency after a province fight, so I gotta rebuild everytime a province gets attacked. Noticeably increased requisition costs for everything while production is lower, meaning sometimes just waiting a turn or 2 is a viable alternative. Most major campaign map buffs are tied to faction strongholds but most are fairly boring, or nerfed versions of DC. No more Fury and Starport means no more exponential growth to speed up the campaign as a whole for good or smart play. Strongholds are somehow both easier and harder but not for the right reasons. Sometimes they just break and a hard reset has been the only reliable way to fix it.

You go from a nearly 9/10 to a 7/10 in just one expansion. Iron Lore tried, but maybe they shouldn't have.

AoE, WC3, and SC are a hell of a lot closer to each other than they are to Homeworld, CoH, DoW, or anything TA. It's also more of a zero sum market than you're willing to pretend it is, with one of the latter games getting completely fucked up to try to compete with Starcraft 2 and Dawn of War never having a consistent identity.

There's only 2 things that are consistent with Dawn of War. It's set in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, and that it puts a lot of effort to make the spectacle of fights look brutal and bloody. Otherwise, mechanically, none of them share a single mechanic with each other. It's like Relic kept throwing ideas at the wall to see what would work each time. DoW 1 and 2 had their fans and were still solid. DoW 3 lost the plot so fucking hard it killed the IP for a long time.

>>
>>738220308
If Seton's has a flaw, it's that the mid player's spawn locale is too far forward and thus unavoidably within range of navy from either coast. You see this a lot with casted games too, like 90% of Seton's games are derailed in the midgame when one navy breaks through and just wins mid and the rest of the match is just a 3v4 comsnipe race.
