I loved Yoshi's Island as a kid and thought Yoshi's Story was feline AIDS and I traded it for some other game. A lot of it had to do with Yoshi's baby noises. I miss Yoshi's old voice

I think this game just has too much of a "babby" theme to it. I wouldn't call it a difficult game, but I certainly don't think most 3-year-olds could beat this. Yoshi's Island had a pretty tropical island theme going on with some difficulty involved so when you compare the 2 games, Yoshi's Story looks like dumbed down version of Yoshi's Island. The hand-crafted aesthetic of the game is kino though I don't care what anyone says.

I’ve noticed yoshi fans(on /v/ at least) just hate everything that isn’t the original game. They can’t name anything wrong with wooly world, but it’s worse because it just is ok? At least half of you never even played crafted world(because when I’ve made two threads about it nobody could explain why it was bad, just “YI is better!!!) but it’s an abomination to god, and nobody ever even talks about the DS iteration, and I remember my sister liking it. Really loved Yoshi’s Island and have some good memories in middle school of competing against two friends to see who could 100% it first. Needless to say that everyone I knew, including myself, was quite excited for the release of Yoshi’s Story.I remember renting it, coming home and playing it with my cousins. The music was baffling and the game definitely felt…different. We finished the game that same weekend and quickly found the Black and White Yoshi on a separate weekend. After that I never had an interest in playing or talking about that game again. At that time most games I played were all quite fun, especially sequels so that feeling of light disappointment with Yoshi’s Story was hard to notice at first. We did have a good time playing it together when it came out but I found myself replaying Yoshi’s Island more over the years.After some years I picked up the DS game since I thought it was a remake of the SNES one. That music was quite atrocious. Still had a mediocre time with the DS game but it effectively killed any remaining interest I had in the series.

this game and Banjo Kazooie made me realize just how much I changed my taste as I got older. I used to really enjoy exploring in kazooie and finding grunties sisters and getting the dialog with them. I did really well on the board game because i actually remembered a lot of the stuff they told me. now that im older i really dont care enough to look for secrets in a game, i just want to beat it and move on.
