Can slop have soul or are the two mutually exclusive? Pic rel I would consider a slop game but it displays a lot of soul.

Had KH1 been a one off game by Squeenix it would of been looked back on with confusion not love because it wouldn't have all the contrarians constantly claiming its better than KH2

Dangit Ron Paul makes some sense because it relies heavily on plot twists and generally knowing something's up without knowing why. Then those plot twists happen and they suck. I can imagine loving most of the game and then at the end, hating it.

I don't think that really fits into the usual slop definition.
Slop is lazily made thing meant to just feed the masses that's uninteresting. KH quite clearly has, or at least had, passion behind it. I could understand maybe calling KH3 slop, but even there you have Nomura's autism overflowing.

Kingdom Hearts has no more fuel in the tank. I will be amazed in Kingdom Hearts 4 managed to sell even three million units. Because this series has lost a lot of goodwill.

KH2 is the one who does it in a somewhat sloppy way, but they at least had an interesting main story.

If they tried to be self-aware and ironic about it, maybe I'd call at least the story slop.
The fact that they played it straight makes it cringe-kino. It's the same reason TGT works. Anyone who sees a game pitching itself as

and was expecting something different is just an idiot.
As far as gameplay goes it's genuinely a very good ARPG that really emphasizes feeling the MC grow stronger and more competent as the game progresses (to the point where you need to learn to dodge, roll and do basic gap closers).
