You can download the old client there. I played like 2 hours today and I saw Two whole people. Chatted a bit and apparently there's still a very small group of people playing and raiding every week or so. It was on the Daemon server (not sure if it matters).

No pet class no but pistols do get little drones I guess. Mage is fun although technically every class is a mage lore-wise. The three pure magic weapons though are elementalism (classic fireballs and stuff) blood magic (focused on DoTs and healing) and Chaos which is melee magic, feels a bit like a monk, focused on tanking and burst damage.

I think elementalism + chaos is amongst the top DPS combos.
